This is a vintage film showing the production of MF tractors, combines and industrial equipment from the late 70's, begin 80's in USA Canada and France.
I grew up on a large dairy farm near Belleville, Ontario, Canada. My Dad loved Massey-Ferguson tractors and equipment, we owned the MF65 back in the 60's, then the MF180, the MF1080, MF1105, MF3165, the MF300 Combine and later the MF540 Combine, along with various other machinery like Massey-Ferguson ploughs, hay rakes, and forage equipment such as Gheil forage harvesters; we also had a MF50 which we had a set of half tracks for use in the winter (when we still had alot of snow), and a table saw mounted on the 3-point hitch. Sadly the Combine manufacturing plant shown here, located in Brampton, was closed many, many years ago.
This video is great! I grew up with a 1975 MF 285 and a 1987 MF 250 (plus some others) on my grandpop's beef cattle & fruit farm. We put many hours on our MF's. They were great machines. Around 1997, we sold our MF 285 to purchase a newer tractor. Around 2002, the MF 250 (Pop's favorite tractor) burned in a barn fire. I wanted to rebuild the 250, but Pop said no. Around 2008, I purchased my own MF 285 w/ 246 loader. Pop passed in 2010. I'll own a MF 250 also one day. Miss & love you Pop. ;*- )
I’ve always liked the 60s and 70s Massey Ferguson’s. I taught myself on a 1965 Massey Ferguson 50C backhoe. This video is back when employees actually cared about theirs work and how their part of the job was done
Worked on a farm here is Utah in 1989 when I was 13. MFs were the tractors of choice for this particular farm. This video certainly brings back the memories!
The Massey Ferguson 30B gave me some good memories as a kid. Not on a farm, but a golf course. My dad would take me in and we would mess around with the backhoe.
I remember as a kid our family driving by the Massey Ferguson plant on Southfield Rd in Detroit. Of course, I was the country farm kid amazed by it all.
This video gives me an all positive good feeling. The management, the line workers, the engineers all working in harmony building high quality machinery. I see on some videos that the MF760 combine is still working TODAY combining wheat and rice.
This is cool. I wondered where in the US my 2675 was made, looks like Detroit . Massey was truly the cream of the crop back then. I have some Massey stuff from that era and absolutely love it
Never really realized how MF tractors had quite a lot to do with my youth until I watched this video and started to reminisce about "the good 'ol days" farming with my Pop. Man... MF heritage is good stuff. Here's to the past... and to all of our future! ;-)
I own a 1959 M-F 50 gasoline, & a 2018 M-F 1526 diesel. The 1959 M-F 50 is still a working tractor along side with the newer 2018 M-F 1526. Massey-Ferguson Tractors= Mighty-Fine Tractors.
I've had a Massey 180 tractor for 30+ years still runs like a top but getting worn , wish I could have it totally redone , I bought it used so it was used pretty good before I got it . Would like to of had new , I love those Perkins motors !!!!! :-)
What an awful combine. Ran 860 for a custom harvester, they arrived in May brand new, we're constantly broke down all the way to Canada and by September we're traded off, we're pretty much junk by then. Did a great job as far as clean and saving grain but we're far to lightly built and not reliable
My father also like the Massey Ferguson. My dad had done 30 years experience of Massey Ferguson and also has a experience of manufacturing company tafe in channei.
Charlie Tanner have a MF 50 R! The first one with for wheel drive! Equipped with Swiss Schindler Axle by our Austrian MF Dealer. About 6000 hours on it still in good condition and working.
they dont have open house factory 🏭 tours like that no more that wouldve been a extra special 😊😊 treat back in 1940s 1950s 2 see 4 yourself the old school technology back what was brand new tractors and equipment they would be the way 2 spend the day at a tractor 🚜 😊 factory 🏭 😊 U dont see that more either its a shame most of the tractor factory arent close by 😮😮 OMG 2 26 2O24
The good old days before the mess Victor created with the debt put on Massey combines. Good historical piece though - the 760 was the best cylinder machine made in it's day.
Here in europe FERMEC(French) took over the construction side of MF and made great machines, and they themselves were then subsequently bought over by TEREX who just did a paint job(yellow to white)on them, but still great machines. I have a MF565 Multipower tractor which is super reliable - had it for years too. It's a shame about corporate canabalisation of companies!
From an era when staff n management seem to known each other n wages for staff in proportion to their supervisors/management etc , a time before the political correctness had taken hold as both men n women had work together on the production line,.n the designer n other's were seen smoking.
Great vid 👍if know MF history in Australia it very interesting. H.V. McKay brought Taylor out then MF brought them out, they produced combine. In early 70’s they tested Australian version 542 with Taylor design interns n told Pa that new combine will have them 3342. Well Pa brought combine before release it didn’t come with Taylor design but MH design from America let say Pa wasn’t happy but he modified to get best out of it. I like combine but glad pa didn’t buy 760 or 860 as they were big combines but poorly manufactured and parts were hard get in 80’s after disappear. Pa swore he never MF but maybe buy Gleaner or International. Those MF tractors are big lumps of shits and recall on them were high with problems That CEO knew problems and MF running out of money with out dated design tractors.
massey lost there way they were state of art in early 60,s/70,s but then what happened ? cant farm any more but still own many of massey,s including a 202 workbull that my dad bought new in 2/12/62 for 4850.00 still have orignal bill of sale 1100 with little less than 2000 hr,s can,t were them out wish i was younger ha ha
Esos tractores fueron lo mejor el 285 fue el mejor tractor hojala y se construyeran de nuevo muy prácticos y no tan defectuosos no te exigían tanto mantenimiento solo lo más basico
@1:24 - I saw that dozer and said “Hanomag”. Ran one just like it that was re-badged as a Terex. They called it a D600 and all their literature compared it to a D6 Cat. Some sleight of hand was involved though cause it had a 140 horse motor and D7 undercarriage. Whatevs. Tracks were like new cause the owner couldn’t keep it out of the shop. Sold it for 5000 dollars. Good riddance. 💣💸
Massey Ferguson Management team in the UK were a disaster of a bunch when it came to machine warranty, so much so I congratulated them for being the best salesmen for John Deere by buying 2 new JD 3350s tractors in the late 80s The UK market for MF fell to bits because of this. poor customer care even today in 2022 would not have one on this farm.
