We used Massey Ferguson hay equipment when I was growing up! I used all New Holland on my place without an issue! All of the Massey Ferguson dealers disappeared from my area! Neighbor had a Hesston haybine! Seemed to work okay!

Spot on machine. Using the same engines as the tractors should make parts and service cost effective and readily available. 👍

@@tctoytractors9325 As for balers, Krone makes the best large baler, while Hesston makes the better small baler. Hesston swathers, though, are quite nice.

A crazy idea came to mind when Jason mentioned straight windrows: Feasibility of the swather mowing left to right, right to left going down the field to create a serpentine pattern so the large round balers could be driven straight and not have to steer back and forth to get an even bale? Maybe next years model?!? LOL

It sure would be neat if they would. Unfortunately the market is expensive and dominated by CLAAS and John Deere. New Holland and Krone take up the rest. It would be hard to break back into the market today. AGCO sells a self propelled chopper in Europe called the Fendt Katana and it looks very impressive. The Katana has been on the market 10 years but had not been brought to the US market.

I'm not saying it's not a great machine. I'm sure it's a hay cutting fool. I'm just wondering how expensive machinery has to get before it's unaffordable. So what is the list price with a 16' header?

I am a little upset that they did away with the conventional sickle head on their machines. Us big dryland guys or guys that do both can't really use a rotary because of fire hazard.

We're having to switch to a draper, just put a 30 foot 5300 on one of our wr9740s for dry land. So far I love it! I don't ever want to put my 18 foot sickle head back on. Averaging around 24 acres an hour and in hay that is making 1.5 ton to the acre it is drying down in 4 days.

I wonder how many 500 lbs. calves you'd have to sell to pay for it? Or how many acres of farmland to sell to buy it. And remember ALL it does is mow hay. Just one step in the process.

When you have a bunch of hay this is the way to go. They have been selling swathers since 1955 so there is a good market for them.
