A settlement is reportedly in the works for a massive antitrust lawsuit against the NCAA. Negotiations in House vs. NCAA could result in a revenue sharing model for the Power Four conference. According to reports from ESPN and Yahoo! Sports, each school in the Power Four would distribute 15-20 million dollars to their student athletes as part of the revenue sharing model for television deals. This situation would dramatically change the college sports landscape as we know it.

Athletes will eventually collectively bargain like the NBA or NFL for a substantial share of these lucrative billion dollar media contracts. That will definitely decimate the revenue gap.

The latest portal ranking came out yesterday. After our massive weekend haul Miami jumped 20 spots to #10. L'ville is at #9 and FSU is at #5. Interesting. 🤔

I don’t know how they could logistically provide back pay. First, it would bankrupt whoever is responsible for paying because of the number of past athletes. Second, how would you determine the amount owed going back decades when a pay rate was never agreed to back then (other than compensation in the form of a scholarship)? Unless the idea is they settle on a one-time payment, and distribute equally amongst the claimants. In which case, everyone will get like $100. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I think it’s good going forward as part of the new form of compensation, and would help level things some.

If the argument is that G5 aren’t included because they don’t generate revenue, would that mean that athletes in sports that don’t generate revenue would also not be included? Perhaps G5 should receive pro-rated compensation for games they play against P4?

The notion going around is that once these cases are en route to be settled Government will then agree to codify protections with narrow or broad antitrust exemptions.

I don't think it's even distributed for power 4. The conference themselves would be the ones paying athletes. Think we are confusing 2 different payments

That let’s say 20 million is not just for football players it’s for all athletic departments and it want level the playing field for the reason is the school has to be able to pay that much so if the acc is at what 35 million in tv revenue then the budget is not that big because that is not including Nil so in saying that the sec and big 10 are making so much more in tv revenue so they will be able to pay the fee and still have so much more money putting the acc and big 12 don’t make that the big 10 and sec will make that just in the playoff money so if a school can’t pay it then they don’t have the ability just to pay whatever they will fall out that is the way it has been presented that is why the group of 5 teams aren’t involved in it they don’t have the revenue so it’s not a even playing field other than the schools have a limit of $20 million
