Two projectors: One for 16x9 content, one for 2.35:1 content. Makes perfect sense!

That's how you do a proper home theater. Every time I see a room with a screen like 120" or less I shake my head and think: what a wasted opportunity. Most people spent a fortune on subs and speakers and totally neglect the video. I'm finishing building my new house and inside it I'm building a dedicated home theater room with dimensions close to this. I'm aiming at a screen size of 265" and using a Htpc with MadVR to tone map HDR to 14 Foot Lamberts. I'm expecting it to be ready around next year. Seeing rooms like that give me even more incentive to pursue my crazy huge screen. It's good to know I'm not the only one crazy enough to go really big. Congratulations Steve for this wonderful room. Thanks Youthman for these tours.

Yeh if some in the UK says they are going to a "theatre" (as it's spelled over here) you can usually assume that they're going to watch some kind of live performance, whereas if they're going to a "cinema" they're going to watch a film as some people still call them over here.

Wow, 224" screen! I actually have a big enough room to do a screen that size but I don't have a big enough wallet to buy the projector with enough lumen so I better stick to my current plan of about 181" 2.39:1. I like the new JVC projectors, I'm considering the NZ7.
@stevefrederick4019
@stevefrederick4019 2 года назад
Well you can find really good commercial projectors used that light up large screens well. Not as good of contrast as the JVCs of the world, but they work well. The NZ7/8/9 look like they will be fantastic projectors. Not enough lumens for my screen, but fantastic none the less :)
@mfkhometheater7742
@mfkhometheater7742 2 года назад
@@stevefrederick4019 Yeah you have an amazing set up! If I keep mine limited to about 180" diagonal 2.35 ~ 2.39:1 I will have about 66% of your surface area so with a 1.1 gain material or maybe even 1.0 gain I should be ok with the NZ7 at 2200 lumen, at least according to the calculator on projector central. Worst case I have to step up to the NZ8. There is actually another limitation on my screen size, I'm planning to build 9.5' tall dipole/cardioid CBT line arrays for the left/right main and I prefer they be behind a very acoustically transparent curtain rather than the screen. The room is just short of 21' wide but in addition to the CBT's I want floor to ceiling open baffle 15" woofer columns on each side. To have room for all that, I can only use about 15' of the room's width for screen. The center speaker will be the only one behind the screen, I'm planning a 5.5' wide horizontal dipole/cardioid CBT for it. I'm also very much a DIY guy, I built my first theater in 2008 and did everything including building all the speakers and the screen. I'm doing the same this time. It's really the only way to go, what's the fun in having someone do it right!

@@Youthman yes sir. I watch all of your videos. I looked for the link before posting this comment but I must of over looked it. Or it's possible that I didn't scroll down far enough. I did manage to find the link. (I still think you put it in after I ask for the build photos 🤣🤣🤣 jk). I guess this is no different from when my wife asks me to get sometimes and I can't find it either!

Finally... Some DLP love! Steve, can you say as to why you specifically went with DLP? Well done on so many accounts

very nice! i like the fact he put the massive subs behind the 2nd seating row. that's what i did in my home theater, too. that makes the experience more intense and you do not need any bodyshaker👍

I Moved those behind the first row(instead of the second) a couple months ago and love it. I rarely have anyone in the back row anyway. :)

I really like the seating. Any chance of remembering what those are. Looks like they'll blend in well in a living room "theater".

A local furniture store had them, They do not sell them anymore. There are a lot of micro fiber sectional HT types out there. I had leather in my first theater and they were nice, but always cold when you sit down. The wife and I prefer the micro fiber now :)

This is mind blowing! I envy his massive screen but needing a $30,000+ projector to get HDR is absolutely bananas! 😅

Some people buy a motorcycle or a boat. I bought a projector and can use it rain or shone haha

HDR is not that important. What is more important is that the imagine is stable, has good colors including black levels and achieves a good level of brightness.

Awesome theater! Steve, how did you hang your Atmos speakers from the ceiling. Mine are similar but only have a keyhole mount,
@stevefrederick4019
@stevefrederick4019 2 года назад
Luckily the MT110SR from PSA, they have a 100mx100m pattern screw holes in the back, I used 4 cheap tv mount with just used the flat plate. It was a little tricky as to put each one up and then carefully get the set screw in place so it didn't fall on my head haha

no CAD drawing. I did this all from scratch and everything was calculated between my ears :) I am kind of a mathematician. Even my teachers growing up always wanted me to show my work and I always said why, it is easier in my head haha

amazing. Who makes the seating?

this is amazing and nothing short of inspirational. I'm building a new house and have dedicated room with similar dimensions: 28.5ft L , 22.3ft W with hight of 11.3ft after the false celling and the space for the speakers behind the screen. planning for two rows and counter table. I'm wondering what is the distance between the first row and the screen? doesn't feel distracting? I used basic tools for the room and planning to have the center first row line of sight to be 15.7ft from the screen.
@stevefrederick4019
@stevefrederick4019 2 года назад
My first row is 14ft from my new screen. the second row is 22 Ft. from the screen. The wife and I have watched about 40 movies since I installed the new screen and it works great. it is not too big or distracting at all
