Remember when RU-vid allowed child abuse videos to show up in RU-vid kids somehow with no consequences but when Muta covered it HE is the one that got penalized

It's depressing how nothing on RU-vid ever EVER changes unless people openly complain about it on other platforms that aren't RU-vid. Really shows you that they don't care about their creators unless public opinion is with them.

the only time I had an age gate appealed was about 2 years ago, when they still specified which guideline it got age-gated on. I could then cut out the 1 piece of the video I knew contained it, appealed, and got it back Dealing with the same thing right now on a new video, but no specification. Appeal rejected in 7 minutes on a 23 min video

Also, something I want to add. Recently, RU-vid made a survey for it's creators (That you can check on your RU-vid Studio). A lot of these questions in the survey is related to the topic of this video in some way, and I noticed that the question being asked was somehow trying to manipulate you into thinking that RU-vid is a good platform and is definitely a safe and cares about it's creators. One specific question says "What is your reaction when you heard/read a bad comment about RU-vid" (I wrote this by memory, so correct me if I'm wrong), and I kid you not one of the checklist litterally says "I would be mad and angrily comments on them". Never have I been that angry when I filled a survey.

First it was Act Man... then it was Cory, and now yours truly (thank you for the shout out btw!). RU-vid is almost asking for another platform to challenge it as the world's only video website. One day, it will be dethroned. This madness needs to end.

I completely agree. I've gotten a couple of age restrictions and tons of limited monetization with no feedback from RU-vid on what I'm doing wrong. I just streamed Golf with Friends and was even hit with limited monetization. I hope, like you mentioned the system can have some sort of change to give more transparency to creators.

I’ll never forget when YT went around age restricting and blocking lgbt+’s coming out stories Then went around spouting about how important pride was. YT absolutely has biases and it’s way of dealing with this stuff has always been disingenuous and doing whatever makes them look good. They don’t care about the actual creators unless it hurts them. I’m glad big creators are calling this out more because it’s honestly ridiculous atp. Like they have to see there’s an on going problem that NEEDS to be addressed.

So glad that RU-vid can’t escape this and everyone is covering it. It’s REALLY not that hard for RU-vid to be transparent and just tell us what we do wrong. Especially if there’s a supposed “human” reviewing your appeals.

The appeal system is like that old meme, a picture of paper shredder with "complain box" written on it.

That's the main problem with RU-vid, they won't explain what you did wrong based on their guidelines that are as vague as it can be. And they don't want to work with you if you're not on the favorite list.

I am at 44 appeals with no success and most videos having no nudity, violence or cussing. 4th month where I lost money on the channel.

This problem along with the bots. Yeah, RU-vid has to seriously shape their shit up soon. I seriously hope something happens to correct both issues on this platform.

This video is now on my "DO NO EVIL" playlist, where I save crap like this from RU-vid, for example: "Children's Recitals EXPLOITED by Music Publishers" "Community contributions are going away" "Non-Fair Use Countries Threaten the Entire Platform" "RU-vid doesn't want you to have to see my "disturbing" disabled body" "The Assassination of JCS - Criminal Psychology"

The thought annoys me that there could be a possibility that YT will attempt once again to make some "big" change just to shut everyone up for them to eventually get back to their secretive ways of inner workings. We need more transparency and communication from them. They should OWE CCs explanations onto what exactly was done wrong. Saying "You did something bad, you figure out what you did by yourself" is such an "abusive partner" shtick that i'm surprised we let it last this long.

Also worth mentioning that Cory has explicitly said he was open to any other explanation for why youtube's moderation is unfair to his channel. I see some criticizing him that he doesn't have enough evidence to make such a big accusation, but youtube's lack of transparency is a big reason for why there's not much evidence, and that's not his fault. All he knows is that his channel is getting unfairly penalized at the worst times, and from all his efforts to communicate with youtube, he has gotten no plausible or consistent responses. All he can do is piece together his personal perspective of youtube to make a guess, and he clearly has the humility to accept if his guess turns out to be wrong and this issue could be solved another way.

I will say it's pretty weird that my ONLY age-restricted video just so happens to also be the only one I've ever used the term "racist" in. I always figured that's why the video got age restricted (consider the rest of it is truly harmless) despite the fact that was about all I said on the subject before moving on.

RU-vid when RU-vidrs complain about Twitch's actions: "Hehe, what a terrible company." RU-vid when RU-vidrs complain about their platform: "Aight, shut up and get banned."

Used to watch Coryxkenshin back when he made those “Ao-Oni” videos. Pretty cool to see him still growing and still making videos.

Tbh I feel like Cory is one of the most advertiser friendly RU-vidrs. He censors all cuss words and rarely curses himself. He’s also probably one of the most positive personalities on the sight. The only problem is that he takes 9 month breaks every now and then. It’s really weird how he gets treated differently by RU-vid.

This is exactly what's happening to me. After years of uploading and growing my channel it began to blow up in late February. My subscriber count went from 10 a day to 100 a day with almost every video jumping in views and then all of a sudden everything collapsed and since then my views and subs are just as before if not lower, but with only 16k subs I can seem to do anything about it. I'm really glad others are speaking out who have more influence on this platform. It seems like the time to start looking for alternative video websites

RU-vid really needs to be humbled, without great content creators to give this platform substance, it simply wouldn’t exist, I’ve said it before and I will say it again, RU-vid is NOTHING without the people who dedicate time and effort towards making content.

yeah, i feel pretty bad for cory, hes been a good sport with youtube and they just find random shit to throw at him and say he did something wrong. its a pretty miserable situation overall and i wish cory the best in this

You should do a video on the ad situation because it ties into this because if youtube decides what is needed it does. I usually watch content creators who hate ads, but then I get an ad every 2-5mintues in a 15-20 minute video

im happy people are finally talking about this, i remember when i was a kid i would watch SML, still one of my favorite channels, and Logan would always be complaining and making jokes about being picked out and age restricted when seemingly nothing is wrong. it's always been unfair, hopefully leaders like this can do something about it after all these years.

It was actually Cory's video that he posted before he went on hiatus that prompted me to start trying to learn video editing. My videos still suck, but I'm still practicing, it'd be so cool to be a full time RU-vidr.

There's no human behind the appeals part, is the thing. I remember this from Tumblr when they decided to ban nsfw content. Not only did they immediately implement a bot algorithm to snag whatever seemed bad (including some of their own staff posts), but they apparently also deployed it for handling appeals, as I was seeing appeals get rejected 10 seconds after being sent, sometimes bouncing back immediately. There couldn't possibly be a human looking at the appeals. Even if it was over something quick to look at, like a photo, you'd still have to read the ticket and even then, people were getting rejections for pictures of cats. Unless this was an elaborate prank, punishing people for pet pics, there was definitely no people involved for a while and arguably still no involvement now. Also it's so weird that they are clearly aware you're not doing anything wrong, yet still rejected your appeal on the age-restriction. As for this poor guy, it's likely his account gets in the crosshairs every time he comes back and uploads because all the attention he pulls when he DOES. It attracts the attention of mods and bots involved in policing content. That said, there's been instances in the past where youtube seems to target poc or issues related to them. Like its handling of the political climate a few years ago, where it seemed to turn a blind eye to white supremacy and were going out of the way to "shadow ban" videos addressing racism issues. An algorithm is only as smart as the information put into it. Unfortunately, the majority of information that gets fed into these and basically any other AI is centered around a white (especially male) experience. There was that issue a while back where... I'm a lil fuzzy on it but basically law and justice AI was getting men of colour (especially black men) arrested because it kept misidentifying them as criminals, or something similar to that. Turns out the problem was that it had almost no data on anyone who wasn't white. But specifically in this case, since it's not going after every video with a black person/voice in it (as far as we know), then it seems pretty explicit there's someone or a few someones who just don't like the guy. Unless there's been some special input to the algorithm that alters it behaviour regarding certain youtubers vs others, but I feel like that'd be a lot of effort to have to undoubtedly update on a frequent basis.

I think Cory is specifically saying "racism" because he knows that WILL draw attention to the issue and put RU-vid on the spot.

RU-vid hads gone a done way for a long time, the copyright system, bots, all that. RU-vid is getting worse and worse. I miss the old RU-vid where you can make whatever you want and even swear. Nowadays you cant

It sucks that youtube doesn’t do much unless some people with larger communities call them out/critique them. It really shouldn’t take that for RU-vid to actively do something about it, especially with the weird age restriction that for some reason only affected Cory when he played The Morturary, but it’s a sad reality that it is this way. Really hope RU-vid does something to fix this, but I’m lowkey about it to be honest. Of course I still want to hope RU-vid actually does something to fix it

So many channels including you just posted a vid just like this on the same day. And now i just found out one of my favorite channels got completely demonitived and they been being screwed over by bots and false claims for a while now and it actually kind of hurt.. AND IM JUST SOME VIEWER. Im so disappointed and angry and im not even a creator so i cant even imagine how creators feel. This is ridiculous. I hope all the videos i seen today including yours spread awareness to FINALLY make youtube get its shit together. Rn, it seems like a self destructng failing platform because of this. Its ridiculous and unfair to creators who do this as their livelihood or even just out of joy. I dont wanna be negative but this is so disappointing and disgusting to see. I reallly hope these channels can get back on their feet soon.

Two key words stood out to me Transparency and open. These are not words that follow a secretive proprietary companies rulebook.

The wildest and most damning part of this is the age restriction, the removal of it AND THEN IT BEING PUT BACK along with age restrictions on everyone else who had that part. It's like, "OH SHIT, HE'S RIGHT" backpedal.

I want someone to go down the list of "Signs you're in an abusive relationship" and see how the RU-vid/Creator relationship measures up.

I don't comment enough, but I thought I would get on and mention that I appreciate this dialogue. It is important to me as a father to see some of my (and my kids) rolemodels having serious discussions about what is or isn't acceptable, and drawing the line appropriately for yourself and others. Changing the company or policies might be one thing, but thank you for bringing reason to the table.

Instead of improving the creator system, RU-vid thought that getting rid of the dislikes number would help creators overall. Just goes to show how out of touch RU-vid is with most of their creators

RU-vid has been a complete bitch when it comes to enforcement of their rules in recent years. Just ignoring all criticism and continuing their absolute garbage pile algorithm system. With that being said, I'm happy they're treating somebody unfairly that did absolutely everything in their power to stay away from trouble. I can tell youtube has just exposed themselves.

Gotta recommend the Upper Echelon videos discussing why the Business Casual lawsuit is not only stupid, but also bad for RU-vid.

My previous channel got deleted due to multiple false copyright strikes on my movie reviews, despite other larger RU-vidrs getting away with similar, if not the same, content. I've been looking for alternatives ever since since I can no longer trust RU-vid. I got so many comments from people saying how my videos made them happy and helped them etc., and knowing that they can't see the videos anymore hurts more than anything else.

It honestly makes me so happy that all of my favorite RU-vidrs are actually speaking about and addressing this. It’s honestly scummy how much work and effort goes to you guys only to be in a situation of blatant corruption at anytime

This genuinely makes me happy that every RU-vidr I watch is taking about this. Cory was the spark that ignited the flame, and now everyone is talking about this subject.

Discord's appeal system is similar. It is there so they don't get sued. No one actually gets their account reinstated unless they were banned from a glitch like what happened recently.

The new right has been dealing with this since 2015 and especially during the pandemic. RU-vid and Twitch heavily police one side. Favoritism is nothing new at these places, but thank you for pointing it out.

The problem is the same for all of these platforms (Facebook, Twitter, etc): trying to moderate with such a large scale of data is insanely difficult and the promised magic bullets of Machine Learning and AI aren't solving it. But they'll never admit that. It's why they have to low-key lean on human contractors who are doing additional moderation. Zuckerberg would rather sweat in front of Congress in hearings all day promising everything's under control, that once they tweak their systems everything will be fine, rather than admit that it's a problem they are failing at solving. Or he'll just change the company's name, start preaching about the Metaverse and hope you forget all about Cambridge Analytica and the Haugen leak...

I don't think RU-vid treated him unfairly... He got age restricted, then he reached out to RU-vid and mentioned that he suspects racial discrimination, so someone at RU-vid removed the age restriction, because when a black person mentions that they're being racially discriminated, people will do whatever they can to appease them. And then, when Corey started complaining because RU-vid removed the age restriction instead of age restricting Markiplier's video, someone else at RU-vid reviewed the situation again and decided the initial decision to age restrict the video, was the correct one. I bet the video would have never gotten the age restriction removed in the first place if Corey never mentioned racism to his RU-vid rep/liaison in that first complaint...

From all the reports I've heard, and how communication is done between YT reps and the YT policy team, I'm confident that the policy team is not based in the US and are in an entirely different time zone.

Here's an idea: what if RU-vid added the employee ID to the videos they have reviewed, strikes, age restricted, etc. So that people will know if an actual person reviewed it and if there clearly is a bias, they know which employee to take it up with

YT could care less unless they actually start losing money. That's all there is to it. They won't care unless this stuff starts hurting their bottom line. The biggest issue is that the world is a big place and there's no real competition for YT. As long as YT is the premier video hosting service, they can do w/e they want with utter impunity.

If you watch a recent episode of the H3 podcast they had a guest on that used to work at Google on these machine learning systems. He actually said that they do have biases. I'm not sure if the system they use for RU-vid is somehow related to what he worked on but I found that kinda interesting.

What I hate most about age restrictions is that youtube demands your ID to watch said videos. I have no reason to give them my ID nor do I trust them with it.

My theory is RU-vid can make more money from demonetizing larger channels videos here and there by placing restrictions. I believe it’s part of the ai programming to target larger channels. The video will still have RU-vid generated ads that the creator will receive no compensation from. Simple scam and difficult to protest.

If RU-vid is racist the why wasn't Quantum TV banned for the ActMan situation? There were so many people that wanted him banned but RU-vid didn't cave in. I agree RU-vid plays favorites it's obvious, but there's no way that Corey was the only one out the hundreds of thousands that uploaded a video of the game got age restricted. His complaint is partially true.

You only needed to see how YT handled the whole Quantum TV vs Act Man to know that YT has serious issues. I honestly don't see myself here in a years time, what with all the legacy corporate media invading YT too.

When i was able to monetize only the videos i made myself, i made a short one of Dr Pepper ten and RU-vid told me it wasn't advertiser friendly.

I really don't think it's racism. I think it's just RU-vid being inconsistent as usual. RU-vid would rather defend a homophobe like Quantum Tv (a black man) who has harassed people and abused the copyright system and instead of punishing him they will punish the Act Man just for pointing it out. Now thankfully the Act Man can now make money again but I really don't like how they still haven't punished Quantum Tv. Another example is official duck Studios. Recently they had several old videos get taken off RU-vid with no explanation. And we are talking about OLD videos. 2013-2017 some even older. No conversation and no explanation from RU-vid. Official Duck Studios decided to just remove the rest of his old content in the hopes he wouldn't get his channel terminated. He was white. When it comes to the age restrict thing I think I have it figured out. It tends to happen to Cory when he goes trending. So what that means is the first video that someone sees on youtube might be from Cory. So RU-vid sees someone who edits out swearing and is pretty family friendly so they check out his content and if they find anything that might make advertisers go away and they panic because they don't want another adpocalypse to happen so they take it down or age restrict it. So yeah I don't think it's racism. I think it's just inconsistency and obviously favoritism.

RU-vid will never learn the lesson, until someone creates another competitor, and YT gets chewed up by it

As a French/English content viewer I can tell you that those kind of problems are very present in the French side of youtube too. Like just for an exemeple a french youtuber that i like to watch alot called "joueur du grenier" had and still have various problems with age restriction or monatization. For exemple most of his videos containing some sort of sketch or days of filming get demonetized for nothing, or for really dumb reasons like womans. He's a retro gaming critic but sometimes he talks about some olds tv shows, but in one of his videos on an old game there was girls in bikini, the quality of the game was really bad so we couldn't really see anything and even if we could see there wasn't really any boobs or any other part showed and it was only 3 seconds in the entire 20/30 minutes video. He then reuploaded it and censored this part by putting black squares and still got demonetized for the same thing even tho he had censored it himself. And he's not the only one to have problems like that alot of English and French youtubers have those problems with youtubes when they age restrict people for nothing, as for people of color or even girls there's some really suspect acting from youtube about censoring videos.

Also the Business Casual lawsuit, lets bring attention to that too !!

Honestly I don't know why RU-vid doesn't show what part of a video is causing the restrictions It's getting in the same tab that lets you cut parts out of the video. I think it'd make sense and give youtube a lot less stress on reviewing it. If the bot detects something then let the youtuber have the option of cutting it out and then de-restrict the video automatically. Or they could file an appeal if they so choose.

This is very similar to what abdul cisse had to go through on TikTok. He got age restricted for looking young.

If RU-vid takes down these videos calling them out, they're just digging their own grave.

Its important to point out even if it is 100% AI banning or flagging, those AI and algorithms are designed by people with biases. So for example that has hit a lot of influencers I follow is A LOT of videos discussing Civil Rights are automatically age restricted, which obviously effect minorities vastly more. People vlogging about their daily lives or something, even if an algorithm flags everyone the same, if it flags a certain word or topic or phrase or anything that only pertains to a certain group it is going to suppress that group on a platform

I've gotten a playlist removed due to community rules now, some music clips or parodies 😂 youtube is really shaking in their boots trying to make it seem like they're not just targeting one person
