New edition boxes have been the only purchase I make from them for awhile (just a painter). the prices are just insane I was looking at storm cast in New Zealand and a box of 10 basic guys is $133! its just insane, just found out a friend at uni had started collecting orcs and i quickly showed him China cast.
Found 3 game stores within an hour drive of my place. One of them had an AoS box. AoS is completely dead in my area. I would like the Skaven but I have absolutepy no use for the Stormcrap or the rules/board etc. and theres no one to split the kit with. So i guess thats a hard pass from me.
not sure where you are located with, but i've done tons of online swaps. its better in person, but you'd be surprised how many people collect/build/paint, even though there isnt a "public gaming scene" for sigmar. who knows this may even get one going in your area. we have a few sigmar players, but our community has doubled in size with the lead up to the Skaventide 4.0 launch. cheers, and good luck!
there is a ton of these. dominion sold out in a few days, for the last launch, but there are still stacks of em piled high, all over the world. this should be more production, more popular, but i do expect it to sell out from GW relatively fast. that being said, i expect it will be on store shelves for years to come, just like leviathan is. cheers
@WarHammerMan Expense is not the issue, but rather value for money. If I can get a 3d sculpt for a tenth of the price or a rival system for one-third, then why bother. Unless you are a tournament player, do you need them. No.
plastic takes hundreds of years to degrade. i was at a tournament, last weekend, and they guy's 3d printed models were breaking all over the place... how do GW minis have a 4 year shelf life? oh thats right, you just saw a bunch of clickbait videos, from non warhammer players saying their models were out of date. but in reality, they were removed from the range because they got new models, most of which are in this box... so get educated, and get better ventilation, sounds like you're getting too many fumes! lol
I have never understood GW and their pricing. I understand you have to pay the artists. But if they would price it lower. They could make up the money in the number of kits they sell. It is made of plastic, not gold. Quantity is its own quality. Sell 50 at 100 dollars or sell 200 at 50 dollars.
they are a very poorly run company, with manufacturing issues. they are convinced that making less and charging more is good business. but there is a give and take, and soon they will see, its not sustainable.
I cant wait , im gunna buy 1 then probably get another 1 or 2 skaven sets off eBay then i should have the start of a decent aos and old world armies. If i see a stormcaste set for cheap ill probably grab that too. Such a good bargain when compared to msrp and lgs prices separately. Thinking about it i should probably just grab 2 lol
lol i'm getting a couple right out of the gate, but if they overproduce it, and it ends up selling for cheap, i'll probably end up getting more down the line. i expect that faction halves to be selling for $80-100 on the regular, which is a stellar deal, considering boxes of 10 models are going for $60 these days. people dont realize how great a deal these boxes really are!
I’ve already moved to KOW. Old world saw to that. Starter army box was £60 for the Nightstalkers . And the newer Mantic plastic is not far off GW quality. Plus the rules are 👌.
i dont blame people for choosing alternatives. GW has pushed away a lot of people, with more options then ever, they are trying to make up the lack of customers, by raising prices
Allot of grumbling about how gamers are saving their cash for Old World Dwarves including me. We all know this box sets going to tank like the Dominion set.
i think its a handful of people, talking to each other. the old world was a Face plant, if i've ever seen one. Chaos dwarves would be super cool, regular dwarves, still cool... but from what i've seen the Old World is just sitting on shelves, collecting dust, never seen people buying, or playing it locally. as far as this box tanking "like dominion" GW sold out in a couple days of dominion, they just got all the retailers to buy up the stock with FOMO. so keep in mind, what you want, is not whats going to happen, and what you think you see, is not always reality. GW sold Out of Dominion in days = Massive success... FLGs had to sell their stock off for 50% MSRP massive fail... so who really failed, i'd say the FLGs not GW. but i'm just being realistic.
hopefully youll even be able to get one without scalpers and bots taking them all.....guarantee I stay up all night to be on when they drop and bots fucking beat me
lol, you are going to be able to get as many as you want. GW has made hundreds of thousands of these. this is not a limited battleforce, they massively under-produce. its a New Edition Launch Box. you can still buy AoS 3.0 Dominion, and for half the MSRP price, to this day... it came out 3 years ago, and GW made wayy too many. this time with skaventide, the game is more popular, but its Not going to sell out worldwide, like super limited production 40k boxes. you dont need to stay up all night, or worry that you'll be able to get one. you will get one, 100% i'm sure of it. cheers
ya i expect one of the starters will come out later, with both spearheads, the books, board, terrain and cards, probably about $200. similar to what they offer for 40k
I am looking forward to jumping into AoS with this box. I am I can get one through my FLGS or if not through an online retailer. I hope they keep the old Spearhead for Stormcasts and add this one as well since I have yet to pick up the current one. I wonder what they will do to the Lumineth Realm-Lords as I have their recent Warcry Warband and am looking to add to that army.
ya i'm wayy too excited for this box, and knowing i have a journal coming! they are going to have both spearheads for stormcast, the new one, and the old one. not sure about lumineth, but i'm super excited for the corruped sylvaneth, and terrain from the upcoming warcry box! hope it comes sooner, rather than later, and we see immediate rules for all these new units! cheers
This box seems to have a lot of hype behind it but I think it's because it's exclusively down to the Skaven. After all, there were GW stores that still had Dominion boxes for 3rd edition AoS a year or so after release.
Awesome overall breakdown, even if it's an estemation. I will definitely pick up one of these! This time directly from GW, cause I really like those coins!
Storm Fiends are a much different kit with multiple weapon options and a larger overall model. Rogors are probably more in the $45 territory. But the point t still stands that this is an amazing deal.
i think $62 is probably the realistic price this kit will be. but again, i was just basing it off similar kits in the existing range, as a basis. but i agree, the fact of the matter is, this is an absolutely amazing box!
Agnostic games are the go ,like gw's lore and all but can't afford 47 codecs and supplements and the selling body parts for every edition (yes exaggeration)but it is getting ridiculous.😂p.s still enjoy your channel 👍
haha i know what you mean. i'm glad you still enjoy the channel. i buy the codex, and sell the code. usually leaves me with about $20-30 invested per book. its not bad, since i dont use the app. i also have codexes going back to like 3rd edition, so you could say i enjoy the books, more than most. cheers, appreciate you taking the time to comment!
WHM please do a follow-up video once these all have exact prices because $60 for 4 mini pieces of terrain seems like alot. As does $60 for the game board. You're being super generous with those savings.
go look on GWs web store, and see how much terrain they sell for less than $60. all the new stuff is like $6o for one or two sprues. as far as the game board, the last set they sold, was 2x game boards for $90, and the mission decks are $35, so i sort of figured in the spearhead cards with a few extra bucks on the card deck and game board. its not about exact prices on individual items. the mounted characters will likely be $65, and i priced them at $45... so thats an extra $40 i can over-estimate on something else. regardless, if i'm over by 10-15% on everything, its still an epic deal... but i think you'll see in good time, just like leviathan, that i was spot on, with GWs prices.
Value and games workshop dont fit mate. Sure you're saving if you want both sides or have a friend to half it with, but why do that? You only get one rule book. Might as well buy a 3d printer and a regular printer for the rules and cards. It still works out cheaper to do it this way. Id much rather if these boxes had one side armies, rules, a god set of terrain and be 3/4 of the price. Sure it wont be a box set. But it will be a box that includes everything but paint for a new comer. Imagine your friend coming to play and doesn't know what to buy, ao they buy 100 different things and get overwhelmed. Now imagine they just needed to buy one box and inside that box thats labelled and presented correctly to make it easy for that new commer to get started? Oh yeah i forgot, nobody plays this game anymore, they only buy it..
price is what you pay, value is what you get. obviously since you dont play warhammer this video isnt for you. GW sells launch boxes like this, and lots of people buy one, and then swap the second army with a friend, for double the force, or 2 people just split it and play together. its actually very common. what you're talking about with a single army is called a battleforce. this is not for people who are new to the hobby, starter sets are for them, and include paints. but its very clear you're just here to talk about 3d printing, which is a hobby of its own! its funny you say "nobody plays this game anymore" but obviously you're just talking about yourself, as lots of us play. you're not a gamer, thats fine. your hobby is 3d printing, also fine. but to pretend like these boxes arent extremely good value, and very popular, or that nobody plays warhammer (literally the most popular tabletop war game on planet earth) is actually just delusional. cheers
I dunno what’s going on, but my local Nerd Store called me today and I just got back a little while ago with my Skaventide box in hand! I dunno how I got mine like two weeks before release, but I sure as crap am not complaining! I would love to see some price cuts, that’s for sure. I’m all for making money but damn this crap costs a lot of money.

@@WarHammerMan you’re gonna love it, my dude. This box is filled with awesome and the new models look great. It also comes with a measuring stick (6” and 3”, which can be put together for 9”) and I had no idea about that; I missed it somehow but it’s here on the sprue with the terrain pieces. It’s got skulls and rats all along it, and it’s just pretty cool looking. The 4e Core Book and the Fire and Jade books are both really nice. Even though Leviathan wasn’t released that long ago the contents of Skaventide are, IMHO, a good bit nicer than the 40K Leviathan box was. I’m more of a 40K nerd than an AoS one, but AoS is really going to make some new fans with this box I think. Of course, only time will tell but I’m as happy as a clam with this box.
Im pretty sure they will release both spearheads soon after the launch of the box for like 110£ so this math makes absolutely no sense 😂 Im not falling for the hype, sorry

A Spearhead is also a discount bundle. Also the Spearhead for Skaven, Gnawfeast Clawpack, is only half of the Skaven models and doesn't include the Claw-lord on Gnaw-Beast, 3 jezzails, Ratling Warpblaster, and 20 clanrats. Similar for Stormcast. It's basically like getting 4 spearheads worth of models for the price of 2 with all the extra stuff too...
@WarHammerMan I don't at all underestimate how popular they are, nor will be. But there is no value in it for me. Sitting on my hands waiting for DarkOath to be a serious contender and real subfaction within S2D.
i sort of get what you mean. but realistically you are saying $60 kits should be $15... which is obviously ridiculous. maybe say GW is 25% overpriced, and be realistic. but if you cant see value in their products, there are plenty of cheap alternatives, for people with less means to buy what they want. nothing wrong with other companies, or 3d printing if you have fun.
@@WarHammerMan I'm with you. My comment was an meant to say that they are overpriced and wish they would bring their regular prices down so that we would think we were more valued as customers. I just bought their Scaventide box so I do value and enjoy their products.
@@user-cv1vk9hb5d ya i agree with you. the individual model kits are ridiculously priced. there should not be such a difference between getting 72 models for $265, compared to a single box of 3-5 costing $55-75. they rely on our need to actually play the game, and they get us in with a cheap box, knowing we will need some of the expensive boxes to actually build an army. its out of control .
Not saying the box is bad. Looks very good . But skaven are not popular here and even if they were , l can't afford to pay half my salary , for a bunch of books and half an army l won't play.
skaven are not very popular, because the range is about 20 years old, with minimal refreshes. stormcast are the posterboys. this box will bring out more stormcast and skaven players, than we have ever seen. but if you dont like it, dont buy it cheers
It's hard to say "wow look at those savings!" when its GW that sets the prices of the box sets anyways.... its all relative - they could charge $500 for the new AoS box, and then say "but look! Each of these units individually cost $300 each! LOOK AT THOSE SAVINGS!".. it's all 'meh' to me, i'll 3d print stuff if i ever want to play
i get what you mean, but based on your rational, you could just steal anything, and say it was over priced... not saying 3d printing is stealing, but lets be real, complaining stuff is too expensive, and buying knock-offs has always been a way to appear like you're better off than you are. i'm not against 3d printing, GW is def overpriced, but also i just buy what i want, because i'm an adult.
depends where you live. we have a bunch of player here, and a ton joining with the new release. the old world, legions imperialis, horus heresy, literally Zero Players here...
