Okay, I absolutely love this scene as well as Dimitri, but I won't say that it was subtle when Dimitri started saying "Let's cut off their heads and rip off their limbs." Or, when he later says that the single reason he came to Garreg Mach was for revenge. Those moments were far from subtle, however this scene did a great job at showing the manifestation of his darkness on the battlefield *in a cutscene*

3 Houses storytelling is just as good as Genealogy's, Blazing Sword's, and Ike's games

For real, Chris' performance in this game is so damn good. The game has really good voice acting in general, but Dimitri takes the cake. He's so pleasant to listen to when he's calm and collected, and get legit chills from his voice when he's mad. Yeah, I also played through BL first and I’m glad, IMO: BL is best for first blind play through, BE is best when played as NG+ after BL, GD has the best Claude

BE Church route is a copy paste of GD but way less interesting. BE Edelgard route is unique but I think it doesn't explain Edelgard reason and psychology enough. Beside it's way too short. AND GENERALLY SPEAKING I THINK THAT EDELGARD IS IN WRONG. She might have noble intentions but her way of applying is wrong. In this game there is no absolute justice, black or white, but it's morally Grey, I know that. The Church neither is absolutely perfect but it's not evil as Edelgard pointed. Beside all Edelgard suffering is due to Those who slither in the dark, but she's pointing to the Church, and even when she won against Rhea she didn't kill her but capture her and continue her Conquest of the Kingdom and Alliance to unify the continent. She should have stopped when she won against the church if that's what she really believe in. Unifying all the continent just for applying her way of thinking to everyone without their consent it's just tyranny. To be honest she should have just applied her crestless system only to the empire where she actually rules and not forcing everyone to accept it. A lot of people suffered for the crest, but it's samely true that discrimination and suffering can come from anything, human will always find a way to hate and fight each other, even without crests. Claude point of view is similar but it's waaaay more better, and he would never sacrifice all those people just for his personal goal. CLAUDE BEST BRO.

@@wambam8296 I had to go from BL to GD. I needed a palate cleanser before I joined Edelgard. I got super attached to the BL gang and the thought of immediately playing the villains (according to the BL story at least) was too much to handle.

I really wish both Golden Deer and Black Eagles had a very impactful unmasking scene such as the Blue Lions. I felt like it was disappointing when I did my GD playthrough (my first) and being spoiled about how the BL route is played out blew my mind

Well, in that case it's the imperial students down there, there were better odds of them siding with her if she reveals herself (which they do, if Byleth does), whereas Team Kingdom would have no reason to go with her, so, better to keep up the charade

You know some people might not have wanted that spoiled. There's probably people who haven't yet played the BE rout yet on here.

I guess it depends on the person. Dimitri's reaction is quite amazing, but I still remember going through my own personal cliched flashback when I saw El was the Flame Emperor in the BE route. Like, the clues were in my face, but I refused to see her as the Flame Emperor till the reveal. It made me feel shocked, surprised, and uncertain of what to do next all at the same time.

I can name a few reasons why it doesn't have the same impact in the other routes: 1) No cutscene for the other routes, just 3d models and that's it. 2) This moment had build up only in the blue lions with the dagger Dimitri gifted to Edelgard and their relationship as half siblings. 3) Dimitri's voice actor really gave his 110% for this reveal. 4) In the black eagles route, I believe they wanted to go for the "oh my god, your student just so happens to be one of the bad guys?!" but it's just literally Edelgard herself and her army walking into the church. Not even in her flame emperor disguise then a mask reveal to byleth.

Then the credits start rolling. But there would still be some sort of conflict maybe as worse as the war. There would be Edelgard supporters and the nobles of the Empire and they would declare war on the Kingdom; then Claude goes to Almyra.

It could even just be an incredibly rare route where, like someone above mentioned, the war still continues with her supporters now in open rebellion against the church. Dimitri could still be crazy but not against a specific person, rather the empire in general, until he gets clues to TWSITD being responsible and then maybe eventually having conflicting feelings about these events and blaming her for the Tragedy of Duscar

They dropped a major hint right before this if you're in Blue Lion. They slap you in the face with it, and make it really obvious. I still didn't get it though and went, "Oooooooh"

I suspected Edelgard was going to be a villain since the promotion. In FE the empires are usually evil (I'm seeing you Grannvale), so I expected that at least the main villain to be from there. What I didn't expected was the moment it happened.

If you play the secret fourth storyline you will find out that she is good.

The way the revealed the Flame Emperor is the number 1 reason why I recommend Blue Lions to those new to the game. It just doesn't hit at all for the other two houses.

Disagree with the Black Eagles reaction. I was shocked to my core when that happened, then had that cliched flashback when I remembered all the clues and went: why didn't I see this sooner? Made me realize I had a blindspot to all the characters in my class. Especially Edelgard apparently

The black eagle reaction is only underwhelming in the holy tomb if you’re like me and pieced it together before that moment, so our shock had already passed. To me it was the best reveal because it shows you how well she’d fooled those who were supposed to be closest to her, who she was supposed to LEAD.

Not just that; Dimitri threw the lance to mortify her. He didn't want to kill her immediately. It was only after his question got answered that he would kill her. Edelgard and Hubert teleported away, and her knights were covering for her anyway (but those knights got killed by Dimitri if the noises in the background are any indication O_O").

@@Moda-pf8wt Yeah - you can tell rewatching it that he actually barely touches Byleth, but it's still enough to push him back a couple of steps. Considering how pissed off he was, it's actually pretty impressive that he was even paying enough attention to limit the force he was using.

Still, this is a fun scene to watch since it’s where he starts really snapping, but he’s still able to keep his head enough to care about Byleth. I also for some reason just find it really satisfying when he steps on the mask.

Honestly, I want Byleth to be the character. I His move set can have him on a horse/Pegasus using a lance , on his feet using magic, Sword of Creator, and him using a shield. His final smash is him and the other three house leaders using their Heroes Relics to defeat the enemy

Koria Borein Well out of the Fire Emblem characters only Marth, Robin, Ike and Corrin aren’t clones.

I love how so many characters appear like stereotypical fire emblem units, then end up very complex and unique (or they have really depressing reasons why they're like that and it all makes sense) [or both]. Examples are Sylvain: classic skirt chaser who everyone hates, Lysithea: the younger person who hates being treated like a child, Felix: sharp tongued edgelord, Ferdinand: classic stuck-up noble, Dedue: classic vassal, ect. All the playable characters in this game are so complex, it's great, they're not just flat stereotypes. And with Dimitri, a lot of people were just expecting a classic FE lord, when in reality he's a very unique character, as long as you give these characters a chance through support conversations even a character like Cyril can be interesting.

Even after seeing this, I don’t regret choosing black eagles first. Rhea's cause was not something I would follow, and choosing Edelgard over her is extremely rewarding as the game has a different twist when you choose that route (of course, each is unique, but I feel like the other three paths wouldn’t be something I would ever choose). Anyways, I’m just saying, each character has their own reasons for doing what they do, and seeing all of them is so rewarding. :)

I thought it was blatantly obvious after Remire village. How the Flame Emperor disappeared the moment Hubert got Jeralt and Byleth's distracted by asking where's Edelgard.

Considering its the same way for when you play GD or BL its not as obvious has both Hilda and Dedue will ask where Claude or Dmitri

I was mad after I got over my shock and confusion.

But you know, when you do her path, you just want to follow her, no matter the cost.

@@4wheal absolutely not. Have you done her path ? She is more of a lelouch/eren type of character : Noble goal wich can only be reached through terrible means. And she knows she has to win no matter what, or all she sacrificed would have been for nothing. There is nothing selfish about it. The other two are not solving the real problem. And you dont even have to do her path, just listen to the main theme and you will understand what she would have wanted if it was only for herself. A life at the monastery, where she could see others smile and be herself. And she knows because of the nature of the church she cannot have that. So she needs "a light" wich is clearly a rôle played by byleth in her path, as she explains in her B rank support. Alone, the burden is too heavy for her.

Themistocle Zan She is closer to Lelouch father then she is him and Eren is far more like Dimitri then Edelgard. Claude endgame plan is a lot like Edelgard but he is Abel to do it in a much more peaceful way and dose not have to start a war to do it. The only problem with the church is Rhea and she steps down 3 out of 4 paths anyway and was planning on it before Edelgard started her war. Edelgard is raciest against all non human life and wants them all dead and is xenophobic as well. Her first and only solution to anything is bloodshed as seen in the prologue when she try’s to have Dimitri and Claude killed instead of talking and seeing if there were open to her ideas In Golden deer she even says that this never even crossed her mind. Her new world would end up just like the current one as Meritocracy never work out well in the long run.

Sai That’s alright, my thought process is just that she uses a masked persona to take on the people she believes is corrupt. Hiding under their noses at a school. She has similar ideals to Lelouch, while Dimitri thinks similarly to Suzaku. Edelgard believes the ends justify the means and gives up her power once she achieves her goal like Lelouch and her motivations are also similar. Dimitri shares Suzaku’s views and snaps when he finds out his trusted childhood friend was the masked person causing the trouble in his life like Suzaku did, although maybe a bit more extreme. The main conflict between the two is also mainly due to their differing ideals. I like both characters and neither can be considered 100% good or bad but they both have good intentions.
