August 14/2021 Summer Hike
Today we are in Kootenay National Park, and we will be hiking up to Stanley Glacier. The trail is 13.3 kilometers with an elevation gain of 770 meters. We made this a loop hike. Once again it was very smokey due to the wildfires in B.C.
For the first 2 kilometers you will be gaining some elevation going up numerous switchbacks. Then the trail levels out and you can enjoy the trail through the trees with mountains on both sides of you. At about 3.7k you will start and climb again gaining some elevation. At 4.3k the trail starts to open up and you can see numerous waterfalls on your right, and Stanley Glacier in front of you. As you keep climbing the trail will continue to open up as you work your way up the cirque. The maintained trail ends at 4.9k. If you want to continue there are two trails here. One on the left side, and one on the right side. We continued up the left side. Now the trail gets very rocky and steep. At 6k you will make it up to a beautiful meadow, with streams trickling all around. Here you can enjoy you lunch with a beautiful view of Stanley Glacier. We started our decent on the opposite side of the valley, staying high at the base of Stanley Mountain. As we worked our way down, we came up close and personal to numerous high waterfalls, and caves. The last waterfall was the biggest and the most stunning. You will have to work your way down to the main trail, over a lot of rocks, be careful descending here. Once you are back on the main trail you will have about 4 kilometers back to your vehicle.
This hike has a lot to offer, beautiful high waterfalls, a stunning meadow, creeks flowing everywhere and of course Stanley Glacier.
This is my 63rd video. Thank you very much for watching. If you enjoyed this video, please give it a thumbs up. If you would like to see my other hiking videos, subscribe to my channel, LIVE ON ALBERTA. I feature over 60 different hiking videos. CHEERS

Thank you again, for watching and commenting. It's to bad that there was smoke from the forest fires, but that's a more occuring theme these days. I want to go back and do this one again, without smoke.

@@LIVEONALBERTA This hike looks amazing. My daughter lives in Calgary and I'm thankful she hikes all the time and takes me along when I'm visiting. I just love the mountains. I feel like I'm hiking right along with you! Thanks again for the great videos.
