Curved surface Modelling, Jeep does not have complicated surface, so topology is not a problem but when comes to car like this topology is more concerned, little bit of topo error reflect heavily in the reflection of the surface. to know more please visit cgmasters.net
@dvl973
@dvl973 6 лет назад
This is way harder to pull off in terms of topology. The car has subtle curvatures and this tutorial is primarily for that. But I bet it has some advanced stuff that the jeep tutorial doesn't have.
@blengine

Yeah the curvature of this makes it a whole different beast. There's been some advances to the techniques from the Jeep course as well, and in general the modeling approaches are a lot different because of the curvatures. -Chris

Yeah a lot of people have gone through this course using 2.8x, which is why I still have it available. So I would only recommend buying this if you're already comfortable with 2.8. -Chris

I'm in the middle of this course, it's amazing ........... the fact that it's so detailed and long is fantastic, because you do the same tricks over and over, so it becomes second nature, instead of just seeing someone do "the thing" on a 5 minute tutorial once, and you think you've learnt it (you haven't), but actually doing "the thing" 90 times is the key to really knowing and assimilating it ........... and for anyone worrying about the fact that it's in 2.7, it's not a problem, you can follow along if you have a reasonable grasp of Blender ......... if you're a total beginner, than yeah, you might struggle a bit with the interface differences .........
@blengine

Just bought this course yesterday and moving along nicely. Even though I'm not even halfway through the course it's safe to say that the effort you put into this is impressive. The techniques are brilliant and I can only imagine the amount of trial and error you've gone through to get it to work the splendid way you're now teaching us plebs. This course is definitely one of the best out there. It can for sure be done as a beginner but I would recommend total newcomers to Blender to go through a few basic tutorials (there are loads of them on RU-vid) and after a while take this course. That will most likely make you understand the concept faster and appreciate the techniques which will help you later on with your own projects. 59 bucks for this course is a bargain. Great work!

@blengine 5 лет назад
Sorry for the *very* late reply I didn't see this until now. It can definitely be followed with 2.8, many people have, but you should be pretty comfortable with 2.8 before following the course with it. There are a few changes like background images are now added in through the shift+a menu instead of the side bar. And layers have been replaced by collections and view layers, and finally remove doubles is now "merge by distance". There may be some other differences but those are the biggest ones I know of. -Chris

@blengine
@blengine 6 лет назад
I'm not really sure what it's like switching software so hard to tell what the best approach for the transition would be. I mean you've already got some 3d experience so you just need to figure out where all the tools are now, and learn about some tools that may not exist in max, or maybe tools that behave a little differently. I guess I would just start off with whatever basic blender tutorials you can find. Just get a feel for the program in simple circumstances. I'm sure you'll get comfortable pretty quickly. All of my tutorials here are step by step with key callouts(the latest videos at least), so I think you could probably handle them. I would try out my knife series and see how that goes - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KcCXM5zCuc0.html If you have any questions about it you can email me at contact@cgmasters.net

Is this being updated for a 2.8 workflow?
@blengine
@blengine 4 года назад
This won't be updated for 2.8 no. The techniques are all compatible, but there are obviously some UI/hokey/tool changes. However, if you're comfortable with 2.8 you'll be able to go through the course as many have. I wouldn't recommend buying the course unless you were comfortable with 2.8 though. -Chris

@blengine
@blengine 3 года назад
A lot of new blender users have had good results going through this course. But since it was recorded using an older Blender version you'll now have the added obstacle of a different UI in the latest Blender versions. I would recommend waiting until you're more comfortable with Blender before trying this course, but if you still wanted to give it a shot and it turns out it's too difficult for you then you can email me at contact@cgmasters.net and I'll send you a refund. -Chris

Yeah the techniques still work the same in 2.8. The only difference is they added extra options in the shrinkwrap modifier, so anytime I use the "keep above surface" option, in 2.8 you would use the "outside" option instead. -Chris

Hey, there's no interior in this model, just the exterior. I've made an interior for a car before, and even when it's a simpler kind of interior it's grueling to make training for because of all the details. In Blender, in the system section, in the preferences section, Cuda, Optix, OpenCL does not support the graphic card. My graphics card is 4 GB nvs5200m nvidia. I did everything other people did, but it was useless. please guide Thankful
@blengine
@blengine 2 года назад
Hey, sorry I'm not much of a hardware troubleshooter. I would just recommend the basics like updating your GPU drivers. It's also possible that particular card isn't compatible with Cycles since it's about 10 years old. But you might get some more insight by posting on forums like blenderartists.org. Good luck!

It is not game ready unfortunately. The course focuses on high detail modeling techniques and the results can be used for baking normals onto a low poly model, but I don't take things in that direction in the course. Let me know if you have any other questions! -Chris

is that a custom matcap that is included with the course? just installed blender 2.8 and starting to do some basic test modelling before buying this course but it doesn't have a matcap that looks like the one shown on your blender market page. the ones in 2.8 dont really show car forms as nicely apart from the zebra but thats too much on the eye for long periods of modelling!
@blengine
@blengine 5 лет назад
Oh that's a matcap from 2.79. I have a tutorial on our site here that goes over quickly getting 2.79 matcaps into 2.8 - cgmasters.net/free-tutorials/getting-blender-2-79-matcaps-into-2-8/ It literally takes seconds to bring the old matcaps into 2.8, and it's worth doing because like you mentioned the new matcaps are not as good. -Chris
