28:52 the beginning of a great analysis with wonderful mating patterns. A very good illustration to the “the threat of a move is more damaging than the move itself“. I would hesitate to pick up the QID. The Alphazero vs Stockfish 8 match in 2018(?) showed a near refutation of the QID and nowadays pros don't play it at the top level anymore. One thing that amazes me about high-level players, especially but not exclusively GMs, is not only the ability to calculate complex multiple lines several moves deep (impressive enough in itself), but the SPEED with which they can do so. I understand that comes from thousands of games, thousands of hours of analysis/study, pattern recognition, etc. But amazing nonetheless.

Yes It is, you have a nice tactical eye! In this position, black has a forced mate in 2. After you play Rxe1 check, it doesn’t matter what your opponent covers with (Bf1 or Nf1) bc Qh2 is mate. Notice that if he covers with a knight (Nf1), he cannot recapture the queen bc of the pin. (NOTE: this is only assuming white doesn’t find the move Qd2)
