Thank you this was a fantastic breakdown, am doing a structural engineer course on udemy and its great too, but they did not speak on the depth always being the longer side of the column properly or explained about the major axis and minor axis, but that course with your explanation and drawings made it very clear thanks
the shorter side of the column should be perpendicular to the orientation of the longer beams length, which is equivalent with saying the deapth of the column should be aligned or parallel with the length of the longer beam, i hope that was what you mean.
