VERY articulated, I saw jobby’s review for this guy and oh boy he’s so articulated to the point where jobby did a certain pose but anyways nice review!
Yeah MTMTE issues 9-11 were probably some of my favorite stories with the transformers. It just felt sorta atmospheric and strange and I just like it a ton. Super fun issues
Well, here’s a ranking system for parts forming: 7. The worst type. It’s completely required to take off and put back on a good chunk of the alt mode, and the alt mode is rendered completely incompetent without the parts forming piece (ER Ironhide, for example) 6. This is a bit better. It’s the same, but the parts forming piece is smaller, and the alt mode looks good from some angles (ER Cliffjumper). 5. Weapon storage that’s required for the alt mode to look complete. This is only better than the last one because at least the “partsforming” piece has use in robot mode, and is sometimes how the transformation is supposed to work in the show/movie (ER Starscream null rays, Kingdom Dinobot’s tail, or Kingdom Galvatron’s arm cannon) 4. The vehicle mode looks basically complete with the piece, but you need the partsforming piece for it to hold together (kingdom warpath, this one is very circumstantial). 3. Semi Optional partsforming that doesn’t render the vehicle mode useless, but the vehicle mode still looks a tiny bit worse without the partsforming (Kingdom Huffer). 2. Completely optional partsforming. This is just an extra option that’s very nice to have. You don’t NEED to take the partsforming piece off for transformation, but it’s preferable to not have it on in robot mode (ER Optimus and ERcee). 1. Plain old weapon storage, if this can even count as partsforming. The vehicle mode absolutely does not need the weapon for it to look good, but it can still store the figure’s weapon somewhere. This can vary since some weapon storage is more awkward than others (like how some figures just have a gun on top of a car). Hopefully this is correct!
7 is wrong. The worst of the worst is, You have to take off a part of it for one mode, but it has no where to go on the other mode. And even worse than that would be, it doesn't even look complete with the piece, and even worse without. There are tweaks I'd make to most of these, but I fully agree with 1 and 2.
@@PerspectiveEnd i had never heard of a partsforming piece where it had nothing to do in robot mode, where they didn’t even bother making it a “shield” or something, and I just didn’t think about how alt modes can be incomplete even with the partsforming, forgetting how incompetent hasbro can be.
@@PerspectiveEnd Ikr. I saw Jobby’s review and he did some cool(and weird) poses with this guy. Meanwhile, my most articulated Transformer is the MPM Barricade..
@@PerspectiveEnd the list originally had masterpiece blue bluestreak year of the goat soundwave, shattered glass optimus and ratchet and deepcover the generations selects one
I would say that the MMC is the Cybertronian version of the MS Optimus Prime. As to explain the loss of side to side movement, I would suspect that the primitiveness of Earth tech limited his movement in the slightest.
I was questioning why I would need this figure even though it does look really good and then I saw the SG version so now I might be able to get this guy
Okay, you've sold me on the Magic Square Light of Freedom due to the articulation. I was deciding between Optus Pexus or MS. That said, you really under sold how well articulated Pexus is. 1. MS doesn't have head tilt. 2. MS's shoulders can't lift up to 90 degrees. 3. Besides sword wielding wrists, the Optus Pexus hands destroy the MS's hands. 4. The hip skirt on the MS restricts the range of the legs too much. You can't maximum kick in any direction with the MS. Honestly, the skirt is easily the worse aspect of the MS Prime. 5. This does even account for how the joints still look good with max bend on Optus Pexus. The only thing MS has over Pexus is the forward butterfly. I picked Light of Freedom because at the end of the day, I want a G1 Optimus Prime, and Optus Pexus is not it. I will hold out to see if MS is doing an MP scale for version 2.0 first.
I've gotten my shoulder out to a 90, it takes a little doing but it's doable. Yes they do, did I undersell these hands, because I didn't think I was? The skirt is the worst yes. I think the max bend joints on the MS look really good. All I'm trying to say is that the MS holds up better than people expect. The Pexus still wins poseability, but the MS isn't that far behind, and the MS has other strengths. I don't think the 2.0 looks to be an improvement. So it sounds like you don't have either in hand?
I don't care at all about Star Convoy, so the only thing about it that interests me is the fact that MMC did it. And they have had a dud or two, like look at their Whirl, but yeah, I feel like they are what so many people pretend Fanstoys is.
@@PerspectiveEnd from what ive heard, whirl wasnt Bad, just The wrong design And fanstoys figs have never interested me, UNTIL this new spindrift 2.0 (seaspray). It is seriously The least thing id expect from FT
Like I said the MS is ALMOST this poseable. The only thing it's missing is the side to side crunch, and the fingers on it are still very articulated, just not as articulated. Everything else it's equal or greater in. The MS's butterfly joints and it's back crunch specifically are the better parts.
@@PerspectiveEnd Keeping the breaks in the sculpt in mind, MP-44's limbs are a lot more fluid when posed, namely the arms. The knees are also less obvious, but they're not particularly better. His ab crumb is also more seemless, but not particularly excellent. Side note- MP-44 has a side to side rocker in his abdomine, but it's to a minimal degree.
Even PerspectiveEnd praised it, and when that asshole praises something, then you know... There is a secret Cabal of toy based Illuminati, paying off toy reviewers to say nice things so they can gain greater dominance in the market.
1:30 Can you explain this to me better? I can see where you're coming from in regards to TV shows since Prime and onward. But at least with Animated Prime he still retains a lot of what people like about Optimus despite being a different take on the character. And people love that version of him for it. Especially since it breathed new life into the character whereas other depictions feel bland and samey.
Of course there are going to be exceptions, I think that one escaped the curse because it was supposed to be a younger version of him, and to that end he was almost a different character in the creators minds. The majority of the time he is just a Platitude dispenser now.
This just goat, the articulations are crazy, not 100% accurate but very detailed, the transformation really fun to me, the truck just a real brick in good way, this just make me🤯
You know there is something I have noticed when it comes to transformers fans We all have a particular bit of the series we tend to like more than the rest. That doesn’t mean we hate anything that Isn’t the thing we like. For example I like prime and the war for cybertron game, that is my favorite part of the franchise If I had to guess for you, it would be beast wars and idw, both versions. For diamond bolt, it’s prime For thew it’s what he calls g1.5 And for paper plane, it is animated. Just something interesting I noticed.
So actually I think Planet X Shockwave is either right behind this figure or on par. Completely nails the character design. The Ab area is almost on this prime’s level, including that side crunch. The arms and legs are completely unlimited so you don’t have to move things out of the way to pull something off. Finally he has way more feet articulation
I'm looking at pictures, and I'm not seeing side to side crunch, or any indication of butterfly, plus the hands clearly are WAY more limited. This is the most dynamic picture I can find, and yeah it's definitely a good pose, but it's not using anything you are talking about except for the regular Abb Crunch. showzstore.com/u_file/2102/photo/fec66e5866.jpg
Issues 9-11 were my favorite thing about MTMTE (I stopped reading dark cybertron 2 for school, plus: I didn't understand shit because I didn't read RID) I get hooked, the story, characters, the origin of shockwave, I loved orion pax as a character, it was a lot of fun to read! PS: I have a question, do you hate partsforming weapon? I ask because I love the idea, it is one of the reasons why I love theamazingspino designs and I would like to know your opinion. Thank you for reading!
Like what are we talking about partsfroming weapons. If they peg on somewhere, or they get stuffed inside on the altmode hidden somewhere, it's not really partsforming. One of the core problems with partsfroming is that if you lose the part, then the figure becomes incomplete in one of it's modes. If it's not incomplete without the part then it's not quite partsfroming. Doing the steps of weapon storage isn't fun to do, but it's not really a mark against the figure. My favorite issues of the IDW comic are actually the first Windblade mini serries, but so much of the stuff after the war is SOOOOOoooo good.
@@PerspectiveEnd what I mean is that a part of the alternate mode is turned into a weapon, take as an example the scorn of theamazingspino, the whole part of the tail becomes a huge sword that is placed next to the arm, another example, classics mirage, the front of the vehicle becomes his weapon. I haven't read much of IDW, but I plan to read the windblade miniseries.
@@karenclaverol6304 With beast formers it makes more sense because if you don't take the tail off then it's just hanging off of them, but for vehicles, we've proved for years and years that it doesn't have to be that way. The Windblade Mini serries is fantastic, and it's like "Oh if you get women to write women then they don't write stereotypes." Who'd a Thunk it!
Don't have one. That may change sooner rather than later, I hope I can get you more information on that soon. I'll probably end up liking it more than the Toyworld Constructor, but that's all I know at this point.
I have 2 questions do you transform your masterpiece transformers including 3rd party or you don't because it makes the figure have wear and tear. Also, I think I am going to get TE-01 For my first "masterpiece figure do you recommend him even though his transformation is hard.
Yes, I transfrom almost all of my figures regardless of weather they are MP or 3P if the fancy strikes me. The only ones I choose not to do that for are the ones that I find to be specifically unfun or problematic. I would recommend the MS Light of Freedom over the TE. I'm not joking when I say the difference in poseing between the two is like the difference between the PWT and Masterpiece, Every joint they share the MS has WAAAAY more range on, and the MS has tons of joints the TE doesn't have, while the TE has no Joints the MS doesn't have. And the Transformation is way more fun on the MS. But if you are dead set on the TE, it's good, I do recommend it. But as your first step into a higher weight class of complexity, that transformation is a BEAST. And you are going to need to watch a video on how to do it, because the Directions are trash, because I had to watch a video on it, because the Directions are trash, and it is that hard. And I never touch directions or tutorials if I can help it.
Not really no. I got my Optus Pexus, and all thats really different is that it gets a different head, and a sword, and they head only really makes sense for the Pexus.
*Jojo posing intensifies* Also, can you review the APC attack prime 2.0? Like, ik your not a fan of the prime designs but I really want to see you review more tfp stuff
Dope video as usual my friend. Have you ever considered checking out the Flame Toys Furai Action IDW Optimus Prime? It's basically a pre-assembled version of the model kit but with great paint, weathering affects and is highly posable.
@@PerspectiveEnd yea their Megatron looks amazing but there is no 'furai action' version of him, only the kit. I was going to suggest you checking out the shape ways site, there I found 2 beautiful alternate arm cannon designs for MMC Tyrantron which did wonders for mine.
Bought him 2 weeks ago and love him, got em posed up with Siege Jetfire and MMC Azalea. I'm tempted to get MMC Tyrantron but....he's sold out everywhere, I'm in Canada and the only place I can buy him is from China.
I buy figures from China all the time, never had an issue with it. Outside of how long the shipping takes. The Tyrantron is really good looking, but it's posing is much more limited, and it's Transformation sucks as does it's altmode, but like I said, I still smile like an idiot when ever I look at it. It is a GORGEOUS piece. Also Good job securing Enzo Matrix as an Account name, how was that not snatched up? I assume you also like Beast Wars.
@@PerspectiveEnd Yeah, funny thing I've been re-watching BW. Still holds up IMO. I only got enough to get either Megs or Tarn. I don't like Megs alt jet drill mode and Tarn I know nothing about. I'm not caught up on my IDW reading. I just think he looks cool.
Dude, your mind is about to be blown. When I first discovered 3P it was like seeing in color for the first time. Everything you ever wanted. Things you didn’t know you wanted. Things you never even knew were possible. Once I discovered MP/3P figures, I kinda lost interest in CHUG. And I went on a bit of a buying spree...
Donno what happened to my other post... check out VISUAL TOYS 01 BOUNTY HUNTER next. It’s a third run of Unique Toys’ Peru Kill (made by UT, but under a fake name for whatever reason). Based on Bayverse Lockdown. Even if you hate the films you will love the toy. One of the coolest things I have ever held in my hand. The awesome lambo (?) completely disappears in bot mode. Zero kibble other than some visible wheels on the leg. And full of nift gimmicks and bonkers engineering. Plus, it’s only like $50 including shipping.
@@tawdryhepburn4686 I thought about getting a unique toys movie figure for a while but I don’t plan on getting many high end figures so I’m being incredibly picky
@@SamHesitation totally understand, but for $50 I don’t think you’re gonna do much better. If i had to recommend 1 figure to intro you to what 3P can do, this’d be the one. Paint job is slightly underwhelming, but the actual item and engineering are outta this world. But you do you and definitely stick to your budget. Lol.
I recently acquired the final 3 deluxes in earthrise (since i had fasttrack already) and i was so happy with the find. Sunstreaker is amazing, same with runamuck. Cannot say the same about trailbreaker who is worse in most ways to hoist. Worse transformation, annoying shoulder gun and a more fiddly feel. Besides that, wave 3 was amazing and I honestly think Fasttrack is a good figure, estecially paired with headmaster sovereign who I place on his weird knife that sticks out the back. Please think about getting a Fasttrack but only if it is easy to get. I waited 5 months for him and Airwave and now he is one of my favorite figures. Just think about getting him. P.s. the head isn't as bad in person.
I mean I saw the head in person and that's what actually put me off of it, Glad to hear you are loving Sunstreaker though, that's a Great one. I fell like Trailbreaker is decent.
@@PerspectiveEnd the head is definitely weird. I aldo picked up Sky Lynx and the kingdom wave 2 voyagers. I honestly love dinobot's look but he feels terrible to transform without instructions to guide
My internet was out so..... this thing has good articulation no Extreme articulation and I read mmte last friday and its so good and the arm cannons remind me of optimus primal's arm cannons
How do you feel about the newly reveled Shattered Glass IDW Megs, it is just the siege Megs but with partsforming, it looks spicy though, if I get it I will use it like the MTMTE autobot megs, cause I ain't a fan of the IDW post war/lost light Megs.
How can you not be a fan of the Post War stuff, that's where the comic actually got good, everything before that was really Meh? Anyways I am going to be doing another video looking forward at announced figures, so you'll find out what I think then.
I never said that, I never read the comics, but I have heard they are great, I mean't I didn't like Post war Megatron's design (I think I forgot to type that) IMO he is just to blocky in my opinion and coupled with his fusion cannon as large as he is he dare I say, reminded me of an anime character. I like him as a character (The little I have seen) but not in design.
I think SG Megs is going to give this guy an aneurism... Partsforming on the same megatron mold. Not to mention the fact the Galvatron mold would have made more sense.
@@PerspectiveEnd Just remembered. I forgot to mention the existence of the Combat Megatron head. It's far closer to the original SG Megatron head than the Siege head sculpt.
There is toy world's Orion that's IDW too, but that figures eh. I don't think the chest is faux forming it just forms his chest that happens to have the grill detail. MMC knocked it out of the park again
The Toyworld's version is an IDW figure, but like just that one design that alot of companies seem to like, because I can think of like 4 that did that particular design. Not a fan of that design, and theirs is uhh... Rough...
1:24 late, but "Cop Superman mixed with John Woo(?)" is that the name? please confirm or correct and give a brief explanation so I know WHO I'm looking up, cuz I've gotten a Hong Kong action director in my search results note: this comment may be censored because of the one china policy
Yes, John Woo, is a Hong Kong Action director, who did a lot of cop movies with really exaggerated fights. A lot of the style of the Matrix fights is based on John Woo's stuff.
@@PerspectiveEndyesterday I bought a Core Class Megatron and a Core Class Starscream to go with my Core Class Optimus Prime. I then noticed that there isn’t any other Core Class Autobots, other than Optimus and Buzzworthy Bumblebee which I’ve never seen in Australian stores. (By Autobots I’m excluding Maximals) Wow I wrote Core Class a lot. 😂
There's also the Core Class Predacon. And I guess they are doing the Green Vetebreak as well but as a maximal, so that's one other good guy Legends figure I guess.
At 2:36 you did the thing that you harped on in the AOE video. The image at this time has a hand close to the camera out of focus, then the body is in focus, but then the other hand which is behind the body is out of focus.
I think what you are noticing is just that the focus is actually further back then you think it is, creating the illusion that the further away stuff is the same level of infocus as the closer stuff.
I did Review the Optimus Magnus, in the WTB Optimus, but then you already know that. And no Probably not. I have enough Primes, and I don't need to be spending money on something I already have.
@@PerspectiveEnd it wasnt, it was from some guy named mangmotion (heres the link if you want it, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-P3HnkuLvMnc.html )
Well, not really a masterpiece, if the matrix chamber part is sutch a big isse for you. But other them that, yea, the figure is REALLY GOOD. And as for question of the video.... At least desighn wise, with version of Prime is your favorite in general? My is Cybertron/Galaxy force one. Really like the way how they handle the chest. The hand cnuckels turning in to the bumper. The head transformation during the "Power up", and his power up mode with his trailer. Like DAMN thats one HELL of a power up.
Yeah I really miss the old fun but also badass leader optimus was in g1 because ever since the movie he's just " grah we must beat the decepticons fun is stupid" and "helping improve team morale, what's that?"
You know you are doing a bad job with your depiction of Prime when Cyberverse Prime does it one hundred times better despite the stiff voice acting, but even that makes sense for that Optimus Prime.
Absolutely. The 86 movie truly harmed our beloved boi. Love that movie, but Prime has never been the same since. What ever happened to the Prime who knew how to Dunk?
I thought people liked Cyberverse? I haven't watched much of it, so I haven't seen much of prime, but he does seem a little better. Someone give him a face mask though. I'm so sick of him having a face in everything. PRIME DOESN"T HAVE A FACE!!!
@@PerspectiveEnd It is good and some people do. But because it is only a 11 min per episode, it suffers a lot from it. And some don't like it because it's a kids show. It is good but Rescue Bots and Rescue Bots Academy are still way better.
I think you will end up enjoying it. Weird that that one comes with the face that very specifically belongs to IDW Orion Pax the Good Guy version, and not an SG guy.
a bit off topic from this review but regarding what you said about MP 3.0 Starscream it’s definitely a foe-former MP 3.0 Skywarp’s Chest is the completely wrong color
I've basically come to accept that at this point. It's really disappointing. I don't know what's so hard about doing this right, and why is Takara so all in on Fauxforming? They announced an MP Skyfire, and I'm just dreading the thought that he's going to be a Fauxformer. An MP Skyfire is the thing I've been dreaming of since I heard of MPs. And before you say anything I do know about the Fanstoys one.
@@PerspectiveEnd yeah i had hope that it was the actual nosecone but it’s modern masterpiece what can we expect at this point also takara is doing an mp Skyfire i didn’t even know about that but wait for it to be like $1,000,000,000
Yes he is Orion Pax, but he is also Optimus Prime. He said so once he got the Matrix, and he looked pretty much the same once he got it and the Matrix repaired him, somehow. -Transformers Autocracy.
Yeah I read that, that is one of the few things that really bugged me about the IDW comics, is that Orian Pax and Optimus Prime were pretty much exactly the same guy.
I recommend the Weijiang over MP-36 if you are looking for a gun Megs. 36 is brittle, and one of the few other figures I just don't like transforming. But I understand the want of MP-36.
I swear I wish Hasbro would do more IDW stuff because I always miss out on the third party stuff; my parents (mom specifically) won’t let me buy these things, she barley lets me buy normal chug stuff; and even if she did, I am NOT paying after-market prices for this stuff. These scalpers NEED to stop smoking crack!
What do you mean by that, like their own designs where they aren't Emulating G1, Studio Ox, or IDW? No. But basically no one does that except for Iron Factory, and Mastermade.
@@PerspectiveEnd Iron Factory and Mastermade thank you. I am not gonna lie I enjoy having a transformer collection but I am in a phase that wants to own original ideas and characters from third party manufacturers rather than emulations of transformers.
Um… isn’t this more of the Dreamwave War Within Optimus? (And yes IDW has resued the WW designs a lot - from Optimus to Grimlock and others) EDIT: It’s not exactly the same but the designs are very similar to a point that unless you have both in front of you, it’s easy to confuse the designs.
@@PerspectiveEnd yep, I looked them up and checked. It is clear that IDW’s design is very much based on the WW one though. (I kinda wish we could get some new versions of WW designs… or at least a version of the Fallen that isn’t from ROTF)
The next set the announced was the Protectabots, who is a team I don't give a solitary damn about, but the last set was sooooooooo good, I am still interested.
Wait! Off Brand transformers can be the same scale as the 6inch line? I don't want to get the MP scale stuff, I just do not have enough room. Also I have alot of Seige, Earthrise, Studio Series and Kingdom. I don't want to change scales when I am already so invested. also on Scaling I found a comparison for Legends/Core scale. The Core class Optimus Prime is the same scale as a Hotwheels car. I am going to find a hotwheels semi-truck to see if the trailer from the Hotwheels truck will connect to the core-class oOP. Blew me away that they are the same size as hotwheels. I thought they were going to be similar to micro-master in scale but they are just a little bigger. My core-class OP is just adorable. O and Iam now at 65 subs! I am hoping that my channel will be found soon. :)
Yeah, I mean It's not 6 inches it's 8 or so like the Grimlock, which every IDW fig I've gotten from them has been, so the IDW Megatron, and Tarn are the same size. I'm getting a normal sized bot as Opposed to the bigger guys I've been buying, from them soon so I'll see if that one is smaller or if the are all just at modern leader scale. I don't know if that bit is true, the Core clas figures still seem a bit bigger than a Hotweels car. I did notice that your wheelie video got almost 800 views. Hope you can take off, getting discovered by any audience is already difficult, so targeting a narrow one is definitely a more challenging endeavor.
you should pick up the MMC Azalea (Arcee), she’s in stock for only $100 at bbts and she is a spectacular figure and is without a doubt the best Arcee figure EVER
@@PerspectiveEnd there’s two versions of that Azalea figure, the original and the alternative version The OG Azalea has a brighter pink color and is more G1 accurate, with G1 accurate swappable faces, grey tummy, and white feet The Alternative version (I have that one) is a more stylized Arcee design, with a darker pink color, white tummy, pink heels, and much different, yet expressive faces (none of them are Rouge-styled orgasm faces, thank Primus) Either one would be a great pick and great Arcee for a G1 masterpiece collection
great review man...ALMOST convinced me to buy this. it does look really really good..im not a huge fan of MMC but damn...my only problem is that head..not digging the head. that alt mode is pure sex though.. keep up the awesome videos...no trademark RAGE this video..sad really
Hey, no Rage in the previous one either. What's wrong with MMC. If you ask me the are the best 3P company on the market. Their early stuff is a little rough but man is everything after that first few figures fantastic.
