Team DROTT Reiter Mihai Maldea wurde im Rahmen der Messe "Pferd International" mit seinem Wallach "Benjamin de Caniceira" zum Master of Speed 2019 gekürt.
Stella Fagerstedt yes I agree, but the horse was more responsive because of the sharp taps he gave him. The riders commands looked almost invisible because even the slightest touch urged the horse to follow the commands.
Still, if it's a harsh leverage bit we wouldn't know cuz the nozebands also tight. (Idk abt the bit I can't rl see, just what ive read from the comments or the cheekpeaces so correct me if I'm wrong cuz I wanna know)
its incredible how well he rides; the course requires extreme concentration, balance and speed and the horse didnt show any signs of discomfort in the mouth and was overall so well behaved and trained! they make the speed transitions look so easy :]
At 2:25 and past the obstacle is when he really rips on his horses face. He is using a VERY tight noseband to prevent the horse from opening its mouth.
@@tatorkator9901 understand that they are going very fast and you can see him using is seat to help the horse slow down. Even the most amazing horse and rider combo will get a little rough. Nobody is perfect and it's a lost cause to expect perfection at that speed. Overall, they did very well
Vanessa _454 he does. Its very high and very tight. By the placement and thickness, im really hoping there aren’t spikes underneath. I don’t think that would be allowed at this level of competition? Not to mention his spurs digging in constantly. Unnecessary. Foolish to think this horse wasn’t uncomfortable. Every part of his body language says uncomfortable and on edge
@@miriamtaylor4405 What really bugs me is you people always look for the worst. Is that what our community has come to? Where you people bitch about how crappy a person is riding rather than look for the positives or, idk, maybe leave good criticism? This is why the horse community is absolute crap. On every horse video I see, there are always people being so incredibly rude when they don't know the full story. All we see is the video so we can't assume anything
tatiana kerina Such a strange take, plenty of animals love to work, it’s wired in their brain and they enjoy doing it otherwise they get bored and start being destructive.
Honestly LOOKS LIKE- from the way the horse carries its head/neck WITHOUT barely any contact- ei- TOTALLY NOT DRESSAGE- the fact that he DOES barely use the reins as brakes AND just the fact that it physically LOOKS like it- he is probably using an EXTREMELY severe mouth piece & probably some sort of leverage/elevator piece is also involved? Like some sort of realllllly high ported western style mouthpiece or maybe it honestly looks like its a hackamore with prettu extreme, LOOOONG shanks- or i bet even if it does still have some kind of actual metal-bit mouth piece it likely also uses a hackamore type component as well along with the bit? (Myler makes a few versions of a GREAT mix of a Myler comfort snaffle mouth piece with a 3 or 4 ring Dutch Jump Bit elevator side-mouth AND a hackamore noseband made of leather or a more severe rawhide strip with either a leather or, again, offers a slightly more severe simple chain chinstrap. Its basically referred to AS just a "Hackabit," theyre about $300 but boy for some difficult to ride horses this multi purpose type of mouth/face piece is MIRACULOUS!) But i started riding my Preliminary 3 Day eventer/dressage horse/jumper in 1 of my moms old western hackamores when i rode on trails at FIRST because i didnt understand how DIFFERENT they are than just riding in a HALTER- (Thought i was being all sweet & kind by NOT USING A BIT!) But, later as he became a nutso on teal rides and i LEARNED MORE about how to ride in a hackamore & learned how they work- i rode in it on cross country at shows as well because my brakes were SO SHARP & I barely had to put pressure on my reins to get a BIG response & therefore didnt have to use my hands half as much as I did with my assorted mouthpieced bitted bridles & thus saved me a TON of energy... but they are MEANT to be in ridden like that. They actually create a VERY strong pressure point/tension system across their nasal bone and up over their poll- and they are VERY EFFECTIVE! It DOESNT TAKE MUCH to make them feel it and youll get a BIG response- especially if they learn how much it HURTS to receive a BIG YANK vs responding to a very light tug & as YOU learn to ride with a very quiet hand and only use those reins when absolutely necessary- you and your horse learn a lot of respect for the hackamore!! But it DOESNT MEAN the horse doesnt ALSO HAVE a very hard mouth, or that it just HAPPENS to be very sensitive in responding to body aides... its probably just got a VERY severe mouthpiece and or hackamore setup on! My horse carried his head and neck very similarly when i rode in the hackamore- completely different frame than when i rode dressage- where i keep tension on both reins to my bit 100% of the time... its just like the difference between driving a new car with brand new, stiff brakes vs. an old car with seriously worn OUT brakes- u barely have to TOUCH the new cars because theyre SO much STRONGER than the old ones!!
Warum werden solche Hammer-Sportarten nie in der Sportschau gezeigt? 🤔 Da gibt es fast nur Fußball, ein bisschen Promi-Talk und alle anderen Sportarten in einer zweiminütigen Zusammenfassung.
Quarter horse like performance but the most impressive part was the total but almost invisible communication between the rider and his mount!!!! Almost no visible sign of hand, foot, or body movements by the rider and yet the horse executed every maneuver with total precision! Overall effect was eerie!
Rachel and? Spurs are just an extension of the leg, it doesn’t change the absolute skill and finesse that went into this, it doesn’t change how well trained the horse is or how fantastic the rider was. It was still an absolutely amazing performance with an insane amount of skill and communication between horse and rider.
The Lusitano is an amazing, very intelligent horse than can actually do it all and working equitation shows that off. They will also walk through fire for their riders, making them amazing partners in whatever sport they participate in. Really an amazing breed that I’m proud to have owned. My next one will be an Iberian (Lusitano, PRE etc.) as well.
Gorgeous! Omg those side passes were next level! Also, I’m a total sucker for a fully braided mud tail, especially on a horse with a big butt! ( cue sir mix a lot...)
It's amazing to see such great communication and teamwork between horse and rider. Both look like they could do this in their sleep and the horse looks comfortable the whole time. Very well trained horse and rider who ride as if they were one.
Notice how long his stirrup straps are. There's almost no bend in his leg. He has a huge amount of leg on the horse, which he's using effectively to communicate.
Felicitari domnu ' Mihai Mandea, nu am mai vazut asa ceva, e extraordinar, adevarata virtuozitate pe plan mondial, inca odata feleicitari si Doamne ajuta in continuare, aveti grija de Laura !!!
Before he started the run, i believe i saw his horse starting a passage. If so, it would of course mean he is dressage training as well as the par cours, which would explain the communication level, speed and precision. Beautiful combination perfectly performed. Language not needed!
A horse to this level is very skilled in dressage, it's part of the basic training. Being able to extend and collect so quickly and bend so correctly is why dressage was invented. It's war moves. Modern dressage has NOTHING on this. I freaking love it.
I've been on a horse that has the potential to go pro in this. He is an absolute bomb. Not the safe, C4, kind either. 0 to full speed in 2 strides and MASSIVELY powerful. Sad thing is he's also like glowing neon green and Green plus bomb= BAD thing happening to the human. He tries so hard, and that's his downfall. Trying tk teach him to relax a bit more.
@@amberblyledge7859 Wow. All that power and the horse just wants to perform it perfectly! Can't imagine what that is like but I sure do know it's rare.
I'm normally not a fan of any type of horse sports championshit because it's mostly horse abuse but this was GREAT! No nose behind the vertical, not yanking on the bit, no kicking to horse to eternity, no tie-downs, not a really stressful horse, this is hardcore horse and rider perfection through FAIRNESS 💯💯💯
Es perfecta su postura sobre el LUSITANO...IMPECABLE...VELOCIDAD, CONCENTRACIÓN...PRECISIÓN ...EN DIFERENTES OBSTÁCULOS! NÚMERO UNO MIHAI MALDEA ...BINOMIO PERFECTO.
This isn't a backyard show. Obviously he is using a bit that is legal for the competition. Nice ride. Now all the experts can drop their videos doing it better.....lol
Love all of these uneducated people thinking they are "ripping the horses face off, abusing them with the spurs" People really have nothing better to do than hate, don't they? 😂
Tator Kator it’s just snug and he doesn’t use his hands to the point his horse gapes. That obstacle was purely the rider underestimating how excited his horse would get and how much distance and time it would take to stop him before the obstacle.
Someone said... And it's true... Doing Working equitation with a Lusitano is like cheating or Doping. It's unfair for other horses... By the way. He wasn't even the 1st... The Portuguese win almost every time.
This brought memories from the best days of my youth . Also many trips to the hospital . It was fun getting there tho . Horses and adrenaline are awesome
1:20 I don't do dressage, so I don't know the name of that move, but the horse's little hooves going... Ahh, it's so cute, I can't even... Also, great horsemanship 👌
Dia Dia Ohh, now I see it! Thanks a lot. I thought it looked like a piaffe too, but I didn't want to take my chances at completely failing the terminology 😂 Have a wonderful day/night/life
Simply Wonderful nothing wrong with learning new things! Thanks for spreading some sunshine ( instead of the negative crud that tends to be all over comments) the world needs more positivity and searching for understanding
The abuse is ridiculous I can't believe you people support this idiot abusing this poor horse and all the ones that say they love horses of u truly did u wouldn't support it. Just a shame
I remember seeing this years ago (actually maybe when it was released) NEVER BEEN ABLE TO FIND IT AGAIN. My jaw just dropped!! I've been looking for this for AGES!!!
I just had the opportunity to try WE on an older trained horse (Lusitano stallion). After three days of first learning to ride with a feather-light contact in the bit correlated with the horse using his hind legs actively and using extremely small body movements, we got to try some of the obstacles. I can tell you that the horse loved it. No pulling, no unhappy horse just a great athlete enjoying his routine. You stop the horse with your seat, not so much the reins. You also gather him with the seat, not by pulling his head. Of course, the horse would have had a much greater time with a better rider than I. (The horse: "What! Are you sure you want to trot here? I can do flying changes, you know". Me: "Sorry, I can't".😅)
What event is this? I was trying to work it out the whole time I was watching it. Sorry, I'm not really a seasoned equestrian, still one weekly lessons and came to youtube because I was missing riding with this virus. Some of the activities looks like games we do like going weaving around barrels and picking things up and my instructor said that there is a sport like that
2:31 “If that horse leans down to pick up that tub off the floor or better still, flicks it up in the air with his back leg for the rider to catch I will shit the bed. Ooh no it's the old “fuck it I'm not getting off to get through a gate trick!” Tremendous teamwork here and that horse is super up for it.
There is a very similar horse that comes to some smaller country shows, it’s a barrel horse. Probably the fastest out there but the rider can’t really gat control of her. This horse just reminds me of her, their stride, shirt back and tight headset. This one is much more well trained.
Working eq is a mix of western and English. The highest level of competition requires the rider to ride with only one hand to demonstrate how easy it is to control the horse.
