Master replicas was really great at making replicas for decent prices back in the day! I was in college so I couldn't afford them and then when I started working they went out of business! My luck! But you have a beautiful piece there! Have you seen the Jazzinc 1/6 scale Snowspeeder? It is huge and a beautiful piece! Out of my budget and to big for me to display! It's a gorgeous piece! I just got my 1/6 Falcon Cockpit from them and it is an awesome piece too! Just amazing. I'm painting and adding some more accurate weathering and the piece just really has come to life. The lighting is spectacular! The details and lighting make it a grail piece for me! : )

Congrats on the 1/6 scale Falcon Cockpit! I have seen this piece a few times. It’s nice when you can add your personal touch, improving it! It’s the Falcon, so it’s understandable why it’s a holy grail to you! 👌😉 But I haven’t heard of that huge SnowSpeeder or not at least by that brand “Jazzinc 1/6”. It must be amazing. You make a great point at how affordable Master Replicas were back in the old days. Now in the second hand market, their prices are just impossible to even grasp. It is unfortunate that you were in college at that time and hence your financial resources were limited. I will say that not only MR went out of business or stopped making Star Wars Collectibles, but others as well. Code 3 made incredible pieces from die-cast! Heck I just got yesterday the Slave-1 after so many years of hunting for one. EFX while still around, haven’t made any vehicles or ships in ages, and I could go on and on. Star Wars licensing is not an easy thing to keep or afford. And as a luxury product, ends up being difficult to turn an on going profit to stay in business.

looks like the paint has some cracking on some areas is that common on these?

Yes, it is part of the weathering scheme. Lucas was a genius at making sure that all Rebel vehicles were battle beaten down looking. Rebels did not have the resources that the Empire had, so their ships reflected this. Even the Imperials show their ships and vehicles weathered down from battle, less than the rebels, but still they don’t look 100% shiny new. See my video on the Millennium Falcon and you will see all the paint chips schemes on many panels. Same on the X-Wing video. All this gave the Star Wars Universe a more realistic look. Lucas took a huge gamble to move away from Flash Gordon looking ships, vehicles and environments that were always looking brand new. And it paid off well.
