This is a remarkable game. Nowadays it may not look like much, but I can see a kid back in the day getting a kick out of exploring all these areas in non-linear fashion, something that most games didn't offer back then.
I don't know who uploaded this, but may all the gods in all realities bless you. I've been looking for this game for at least 20 years, and I could never remember its name. THANK YOU!
I used to play this game for hours... never beat it, got very close, the last level (I think), but got stomped the few times I made it that far. That title screen brings back memories. Been 30 years, but finally saw the ending...Thanks. :D
I must have spent hundreds of hours on this as a kid, never figuring out what was going on. Eventually came across a second hand video game magazine that at least had a partial guide on it
This is one of my childhood favorites. Don't care what anyone says. When Zelda 2 came out, it made me thing of this. Trying to figure out what to do might be just as confusing at first :P Still, always hear that soundtrack and it brings me back ^_^
@joaodavi rodrigues nunca consegui zerar.
This game is quite good and unique in what it offers for an action title from the 80s. People who criticize it drown in a glass of water and as soon as an old game asks for a bit of exploration or to stop and think. says it's bad. The game proposes an adventure where you can explore in several directions, it does not have anything more complicated. It requires time to explore and learn the way, in the 80s this made the game unique, the closest thing to a current open world and above all the duration of the adventure was greater without falling into increasing the difficulty in an absurd way as they did the rest of games with 5-7 levels. And the character graphics, enemies, and NPC close-ups are absolutely glorious. I don't know how in Master System they managed to move such large and detailed sprites while NES didn't. The music may not be memorable, but at least it sounds good and not like someone is killing the cat which is something that often happens in other Master System titles.
me on my way to an hour-long trek through areas i've already seen a bazillion times so that i can talk to every single npc in order to make a boss show up (it's the game's fun and quirky way of encouraging exploration)
From a game design perspective, I think it would have been cool if the screen shifts as you draw the bow-string back in order to get a long range view for longer ranged attacks... Now that I think about it, I'm not sure I've seen this feature in any 8-bit or 16-bit era games ?
Um jogo exaustivo de tão grande que nunca consegui zerar , mas não posso dizer que é ruim ou meia boca. Valeu a pena ter um master System ao inves de outro mega drive.
I remember playing this game when I was like 5-6 yo, and i never cloud get pass that ghost on the swamp. Also since i didnt knew english at that time my bother and me a long time to find our way to that damn tree boss lol.
I used to play the shit out of this game as a kid, tho I never cared to do the objectives , just played to kill some monsters for some time then go play something else
I got pretty far in this game a few times as a kid but was never able to beat it. as an adult im sure i'd be much more able to do so. I never understood why they decided that the "visiting a villager" music should be designed to make players cry inconsolably. By far the saddest, most tragic music of any game of its time LOL
Am I the only one who thought this game had great graphics and music but dismal gameplay? Please tell me I'm wrong if you think it's actually playable, sometimes I discover my younger self was really impatient and couldn't appreciate certain games at the time.
No, I agree with you and for the most part, the gaming press at the time seems to have as well. The graphics and sound are pretty decent by the standards of the day - especially considering it's an 8-bit game - but it's not otherwise what I would call a good game. Traveling between quest locations in particular (i.e. the bulk of the game), is shallow and repetitive.
Sound-wise, I only hear one song for action parts of the game...one....song....the entire time. I wouldn't say that's too good for the time. Controls look clunky and floaty. Graphically it's so so. Not too bad but nothing memorable. At least there are some layers to the forest trees in parts. The system was capable of much more than this game took advantage of.
Yeah, it's not just you. The gameplay is indeed a clunky and monotonous slog. Bit of a shame, as the game is otherwise pretty ambitious in its scope and (at least seemingly) non-linear approach, but ultimately ruined by the gameplay being so stiff and repetitive, and the navigation and quest system bordering on cryptic. Overall, not a very good game.
Huh, looks pretty fun! The very few games I played for the Sega Master System were Golden Axe Warrior, a pretty awesome but tough action adventure game, similar to the original legend of Zelda, and the not as good Ghostbusters game. I have yet to get through the stairs.
This is a frustating game. I thought it was only for myself, but after seeing this longplay with so confusing maps and hidden information, I’m glad I gave up this game when I was a kid.
I'm a huge sucker for "guy hit think with sord" games. I tried so hard to like this one bitd. it came really close to being good; but has too many flaws.
OO, at 34:00 you have to talk to the man 3 times to get the info ! and 6 times at 55:00 !! 1:00:30 is epic, he gave a sword as a reward for that. That game is broken.
This game drove me batshit crazy as a 9 year old kid. I hated that you could go both left AND right with each level. Had absolutely NO clue where I was going or how to get anywhere. I vaguely remember shooting a stone statue of something that resembled medusa for an hour straight hoping it would do something. That's how lost I was with this game.
