So blessed to be able to hear a master like Barenboim teach already extremely accomplished pianists, which leads to such high level musical insights!!!

Hey Lionel, good to see you here! Just wondering, who’s your favourite pianist and Composer combination? For example, (Barenboim & Beethoven) For me it’s Yuja Wang and Rachmaninoff.

These master classes by Barenboim are second to none... I've played sooo many of the sonatas my whole life... and I feel like I'm now... JUST now starting to get a real gimps of what they're all about... I don't think I'll ever really understand them to their fullest... BUT WHAT a journey!!!!! the BEST!

Maestro Barenboim is an angel, perhaps sent by Beethoven himself. Seriously, he is such a gift to us all. And what a brilliant teacher. Restores my faith in humanity when I encounter people such as this. :)

@LyndseyMacPherson
@LyndseyMacPherson 4 года назад
@@samcollins8330 Certainly not, at least not in the conventional sense. (Also, I used "angel" in the broader connotation of one who is gracious and generous.) But all souls possess will and intent, and I doubt not the power in such, particularly when it is possessed by those with the faculty to use them. Beethoven's will is legendary. If we operate under the belief that we are all truly connected on a spiritual level, it is plausible to consider that Beethoven exists still and within those he chooses. ;)

Would’ve been amazing to see! The ridiculous amount of natural virtuosity he possessed coupled with his extremely unique thought process/approach seem like they’d get in the way of teaching, but he was still just so knowledgeable, I think he would’ve been able to impart a massive amount of interpretational insight to anyone. If only 😭

After listening to this master class, I now have a much better understanding of Daniel Borenboim's giftedness. I have a habit of liking the videos that produce a louder sound, but I now know that the ability to color a phrase with a delicate texture requires an advanced understanding of color along with a mastery of touch & is an indication of a more seasoned player. I'm so impressed, by both the student & the teacher!

What fabulous video ! It has made me hear the first movement of the Waldstein with new ears and approach it with a mind in awe of Beethoven's harmonic genius. And that this was written by a deaf man who heard the most idealised performance of the music when he was composing it. Barenboim hears it the same way. He has made the notes come alive and speak to us and to reveal themselves in all their beauty and wonder. So often under the hands of amateurs this profound movement becomes only another exercise by Czerny ! Thank you also for ending the video with a performance by Barenboim himself, which becomes so much more wonderful when it follows his exposition in the Master Class. Truly Barenboim is the epitome of a master musician passing on his genius to the next generation before he himself becomes one with the immortals.

@josemiguel95
@josemiguel95 6 лет назад
