Nice review! What I like about this saw is the ball bearing guides which you can't find on any other saw in this price range as far as I can tell. The WEN saw has them but it's twice the price. I believe the motor in this one is the most powerful as well.
I purchased the Grizzly 9 inch ban saw with a lot of the similar features. Reading the owners manual is very important and helps set band saw blade guides. I would only suggest researching different kinds of bands saw blades and learn what they do, plus and minus. Then have fun. I really enjoy mine.
Yeah, at this price point they are all similar. @RidgidRon You’re right, one things I didn’t mention was blades and sizing with quality. The size is easy to find out but the quality of blade can be hard to find with so many brands to choose between. Sounds like a second video idea. Blade talk!! 😊 Dan
@ShopTalkWithDanTheMan Dan, you are right. I watched a lot of what I would call trusted RU-vid channels (like yours) to learn about the different kinds of band saw blades. Then, I settled on some that wouldn't break the bank and fit my needs.
Is it worth the upgrade from the previous model? I was wondering mainly about the upper blade guide, the one I have has pins instead of the bearings on the side of the blade...
I don’t own the old one, however, based on the fact that you have pins instead of bearings, that would make a big difference in guiding the blade to preference (better/accurate adjustments). However, if the saw still works well for you, maybe just keep with what you have. I know when it comes to other tools they’re always making more improvements to make them better. At least I tell myself that when they come out with a new replacements for my rigid tools, lol 😂. I guess it depends on your budget whether or not you want to upgrade based on one pro. I always have to weigh it. Is it worth it just for the slight update. Because we all know they’ll be new tools just around the corner. Hope that helps a bit. 😊Dan
