Though arguably it's pretty useless regardless since turning on the NV will make you shine a giant IR Spotlight at your enemies..and if they also have NV it's basically a "Hey look! I'm here!" Beacon
In the right hands, i've seen many times the leopard 1 changing the tides of battle whilist being a pain since its very quick and deadly. Especially if it gets undertiered and fight late ww2 vehicles.
Leopards should never be undertiered in my opinion, it can hold its own in the uptiers, but then it absolutely dominates in the downtiers due to speed, low profile, scope magnification, HEAFTs and other characteristics. Had an open field match yesterday, came first just by sitting at the hill at spawn and sniping everyone without being seen once. Not once was I shot back at, because it's very hard to spot a low profile tank shooting you from over 1km away.
I love this tank, the problem for me is that the zoom is a little bit to big for my liking and also that I have a 37% winrate in it because German teams are full of very skilled people
It still better than ST-A1 with 8-16x zoom level. Just play this tank give me motion sickness if I don’t carefully with scope . Move or shoot when zooming will instantly knock you out of target and make you lost directions a while
It is because many People like the German Tanks or think German Tanks r the best. These People came from fat ass Tiger 2s and stuff to an fragile Leo1. So they have to learn to drive it different, learn the cat n mouse game. My WR is about 50% with an KD of 2, me never using the Zoom to shoot, so its esier to know how to aim. Me got an high Chance of hit the target with the first Shot. Me using heatfs only.

People dont talk about the gunners sight enough. The zoom on the sight gives me unnatural accuracy at this BR. I've made some ridiculous long range shots because of the zoom. I believe the gunners sight is the biggest advantage for a lot of maps.

You are basically invincible at long range. You have the rangefinder and great zoom. Most of your enemies see your silhouette as 2-3 pixels while you can even read the text written on their tank. It's even better if you use the 20x zoom commander view. I've dominated many matches fighting long range and hull down.
I actually got the leopard one recently after playing the game for about 8 years, and it is quickly becoming one of my favorite tanks. It has the mbt feel while being balanced (kinda) at the tier.
used to hate this tank but its kinda grown on me, guess it mustve been the jarring change from the heavy tanky beasts from ww2 to the agile less armoured age of the Postwar that soured my initial games with this thing
If you're playing the leopard 1 and are facing a: •American tank: shoot the right side of the turret, especially if its a heavy tank. Thats where their ready rack is; •British tank: left side of the hull beside the driver, no matter the type of tank it is. There's a ammorack there too that cant be emptied unless the enemy only has one shell left. •Soviet tank: right side of the mantlet if it's a MBT, right side of the hull if it's a heavy tank, or right side of lower glassis in both cases but it's a tricky shot and not really reccomended. That's where the ready rack is in the russian MBTs, a ammorack second to the ready in their heavy tanks, and a second ammorack near the floor, but the second rack is more likely to be empty and you might not produce enough spall to detonate it. In case of doubt shoot around the mantlet as that is likely to at least take out the breech, it is tricky on soviet heavy tanks tho because of thick armor and angles. •Remaining Nations: they are rare to come across at these BRs, but you should be fine shooting center mass since only the big three have heavy armored tanks at the 7.3-7.7 bracket, with the only exception being the Ho-Ri but even then you should have no problem penetrating it if shooting at the casemate or HEATFSing the hull, but in case of doubt go for the right side of the casemate since there's ammo there.

Leopard 1s commander optic is a 20x which is one of if not the best at its BR/rank so you can utilize that to your advantage (most enemies have around 9x)
Played a lot of different BRs and Nations while the Event. For me German 7.3 was the best. Not on every Map. But me prefer flank Maps anyway. Good mobility and gun. But you better dont get hit. Leo 1, M48, Marder, Wiesel, Arado and M262 Jabo is my lineup. Maybe the 7.7 "French Marder" will be 7.3 sometimes. On 7.7 or 8.7 the Bullshit begins with Drones, BMP2s and China Tanks.
The one and only time i encountered an IS-7 was in a leo 1 I shot it in the side of the turret, killed his commander and loader and the shell went out the other side I may have died but the pen is really good👍
Ah yeah that thing is a proper menace to fight whenever I was at 6.7. Doing better against it now as 7.0 USA, but it's still a REALLY dangerous target.

Yah many vehicles did, but there are so many unique tanks i havent made video about that it would look weird to redo old vids before covering the basic tanks. Maybe when war thunder starts copy pasting similar tanks in all nations (looking at you finland update) i will catch up :)

When I was playing and getting the upgrades for Leopard 1 I really, really wished I had gone with mobility parts first after parts and FPE. What use is accurate gun with good ammo if you cant get anywhere in time especially when you have such a lousy armor?
Both are good but APDS has the advantage in damage, velocity and being able to shoot through obstacles. You rarely need the penetration of HEAT-FS but it can overpressure, so doesn’t hurt to take a few.
It's kinda like an AMX 30 with better ammo at a lower br cause gaijin can't balance the game. If you are top tier in the match this thing is like cheating. You will run into WW2 heavy tanks whos armor you can just ignore. The thing is crazy fast for a tank it's side too which is usually worth more than armor cause you can just flank the enemy and then wipe the floor with them before they can even react. It's only balanced by dogshit teams so even if you get 10 kills you will probably loose because of people who whine on the forums how the tiger is bad.
I use all shells. Main is APDS. HEAT-FS is for heavy armor or vehicles that can be overpressured, sometimes long range since APDS loses penetration. HESH is for lobing shells over hills or cover.
Im not talking about balancing by year - thats dumb. Im talking about dumb BR compression, especially around 7.0. Devs should have left space for late WW2 and right after WW2 tanks (Kind of what tier 10 in WOT is) and then there would be modern stuff wich is currently 7.0 and higher.
Rated 6.5/10. Perfect for 7.3. You can’t compete with many tanks at higher BR that have stabilizers or much better armor.

If it goes to 7.7 it will go back to 7.3 again. 7.7 is almost always guaranteed full uptier where t55s, stabilizers etc. dominate the battlefield. People who use leo1 bring 7.7 vehicles to the match anyways.

The fact that this Tank is 7.3 but my Maus is 7.7 means 2 things, generally every Leopard 1 player must suck to pull the stats down so a cold war MBT is worse than the Maus, orr Gaijin just hates the Maus
The Maus has APHE, is big and has lots of armor and crews. The Leo will die to any 5.7 in one shot because of APHE, the Maus is very well protected from that and can take many hits. It’s a super heavy concept tank. Even when it’s a bad WW2 design, it’s still able to stand its ground, just because how ridiculous it is.
