If you only believe in yourself, you will never understand what you have to believe in. Believing, in what we want to become, to achieve true peace and satisfaction, that is the goal. The child does the same to be admired by his father. Man should do the same to be loved by God. Without getting too religious, which is out of place here.
I didn’t take the Art of Taekwondo...but I’ve always RESPECTED the Founding Father’s / Mothers Masters of every kind self-defense Martial Arts 💯👍🏽!! Master Mas Oyama was one I wished I’ve could have met...Hai..Kenpo 👊🏽 Salute to all my Brothers and Sisters out there , Stay Safe and Stay Healthy throughout this pandemic ❤️🙏🏽😎😷 !! 🤙🏽🇬🇺🇲🇵🤙🏽 !!
Even though he was Korean born, he believed in Japanese Shinto, so therefore he is Japanese in head and heart. also this Korean version of translation is wrong, it is not Takwon king, this was instruction Kyoukusin karate to west. and it had nothing do to with Taekwondo itself. because you have Korean flag in the background. does not make it so.
@@timbottman3479 With all due respect, hope you understand that it would be considered disrespectful and even offensive to anybody of Korean heritage including Oyama Sensei to say such thing as being Japanese in head and heart. All Koreans, whether born in their fatherland Korea or outside, they all are proud of being Korean. I can confidently say so as one of the descendants of Korean race in Japan myself. OSU!
@@timbottman3479 He believed in Shinto just as a part of karate. Because Karate is Japanese martial arts. His heart was always in Korea, not Japan. Don't judge whole thing from some parts of his life, and don't see what you want to see. do you know why 'Taekown king' is typed in this flim? because of something political problem. Choi young eui wanted to take kyokushin to Korea, but at that time, Tkd was also made in Korea and tkd was needed to be developed. so choi young eui didn't take kyokushin to Korea for success of his Motherland's martial art. and that's why 'Taekwon king' is typed in that video.
Well, the style he invented makes you as sturdy as a bison and strong as a freaking tiger so seeing him prounce around is surprising, considering the art he created that emphasize indestructible body.
He wished TKD prospers in their own way. Of course he contributed a lot how TKD established its modernized form. He rooted from Choi family where their hometown is in Gimje, South Korea. No one denies his ancestry rooted in Korean peninsula like where Japanese rooted from in ancient time.
Oyama and others created the foundation for the modern mma..in the none classical arts seek the classical roots. In the beginning there was the classical and traditional martial art which westerners transformed into the modern mma..
1967. We can see that at this time, the language of Seoul and North Korean Pyong-yang is so similar. Now, the two are very different. Seoul language has become prettier but less out-pouring.
Notice he is fighting out of cat stance with most of his weight shifted to the rear leg so he can't be swept and can move quickly or use the front foot for defensive kicks without shifting his weight.
Oyama comes from Goju Ryu .. and you See the Goju Cat Style from Gogen Yamaguchi ...from this Time . Later Oyama Change more His Style ....to Beginn you See the Breath Goju Ryu Kata...
he make the movement of Bruce lee !!! everybody in the world like the style of Bruce lee because it's the most beautiful and efficient in the same time !!!
Wow he's got that real internal power and doing the Shaolin Hung Gar form in the beginning extremely well! Look how soft and relaxed he is more like a true Kungfu master while his students are much stiffer.
@@cahallo5964 Kung fu has a lot of grappling too. Probably too much of hollywood and seeing modern version of wushu forms made people think kung fu is just flowery movements, spins etc.
Tekwondo oiginated in the mid-20th centtury,by merging all Korean martial arts, and among them is Tang Soo Do i.e. Karate Do Shotokan Ryu! (Tae Soo Do,Hapkido,Kyikon....)...
I have no idea what these guys are saying but that they're taekwondo skills are impressive incredible is well and very unique I don't know what will happen to me in the future but at least I'll try my best to get back into martial arts the only thing I have left make my life better 🥋☯️🙏😌🙏☯️🥋
I believe there are other demonstrations of Mas Oyama where he is fighting, but I think this may be first video I've seen with him doing a little sparring. It may have just been a demonstration of using range in fights. It is strikingly familiar: Sonny Chiba in Street Fighter. There is a light front leg and a low lead hand.
Tensho. It is from the Goju-ryu / Naha-te school originally (one of the styles Oyama formulated Kyokushin from). Watch Morio Higaonna perform this kata, very special. The kata was brought to Okinawa from China and adapted from a form in White Crane.
alot of people might not know the context, it was a technique demo and sparring, obviously when you want to teach a technique to other schools of thought, you don't beat the hell out of them unless consensual. Oyama was teaching the Taekwondo guys his in and out movement you can see him going in and out around 0:35 and 0:45 and countering a kick by slipping and kicking during the retraction. at the time the guy was legit and if you think that wonky block that he does doesn't work, let me point you to how Fedor Emelianenko blocked the feared kicks of Mirko Cro Cop during their Heavyweight MMA bout
Ago Tam : Mas Oyama was born Korea. He was an ethnic Korean who became a Japanese citizen. I was told this by my 7th Dan Taekwondo and 7 th Dan Hapkido Korean master in 1977-78. Hence, there is a lot more use of kicking techniques in Kyokushinkai than in other Karate styles.
Regarding Master Oyama Korean bakground, I have an intriguing question, Is it MAWASHI KAITEN GERI or some said Rolling Thunder Kick has certain Taekwondo 'flavor' in it ? or to be exact some sort of MORE ADVANCED development of taekwondo spinning and tornado kick? bcoz we don't see mawashi kaiten geri in any other karate style. While although we also DON'T SEE IT in TKD but it seems that the quick spinning hips and flying acrobatic movement of mawashi kaiten geri has SOME LITTLE FLAVOR of TKD in it !
It develop internally in Kyokushin, just like the Kubi Mawashi Geri or "Brazilian Kick". Both kicks only can be properly executed inside the Kyushin short "mawai". Both Taekwondo and Traditional karate mawai are too long to execute these kicks properly so it is unlikely they will come up with these kicks.
I think it was just added when they started developing within the ruleset, you don't see that in taekwondo because you're not allowed to fall or trip or you get deductions
It's sad to see the nation of Korea didn't do anything for him while Oyama had to go through all the hardship in Japan and eventually became significant figure in Japan and all of sudden Korean media is trying to say he is Korean, his name is Choi instead of Oyama,,,, blah blah... I feel embarrassed and I am a Korean. Oyama had love for his home country so that he delayed the branch of KoKyushin dojon world wise to promote TKD for his love for home country. But now people are saying TKD this , and Oyama is Japanese, no he's Korean.. blah blah.. Mas Oyama was Korean JAPANESE period HE IS JAPANESE who made big difference in KARATE world. KOREA DIDN"T DO SHIT FOR HIM except letting him suffer as victim of war in Japan. That man stood himself up and built his legacy in Japanese. So, Im saying All the Koreans stfu. u don't share anthing in his life.
hey Giant B, how stupid of u to generalize the country of Korea and the people in it. Korea abandoned him and he found his way of life in Japan. Even in his dojo, u still cant find a Korean flag but only Japanese flag. Here some facts for u: Sosai learned Karate and absorbed the karate spirit to strengthen himself then transform karate philosophy in the way he believed to create Kyokushin karate. All of his Kyokushin karate techniques came from original karate. He never mentioned about learning taekwondo.
What is also stupid is why the Korean masters of Taekwondo did not take some of his knowledge and apply it to make Taekwondo a strong art. Why would you not explore leg kicks or the serious combative nature of martial arts?
No Terry, I think you are probably a Japanese. Yes he wasn't treated well as he should in the beginning. However, if you consider the history of Korea, it wasn't easy for Koreans to accept someone practicing Karate and promoting it world wide. If wasn't long after Korea was freed from Japanese occupation. Many people suffered from it. You know why Korea had to come up with Taekwondo rather than just developing their own traditional martial arts? Do you know when there was an earthquake in Kwandong, Japan killed Koreans for it? Let me ask you this, if a Jewish man had learned Geman martial arts and promoted it, how do you think the rest of Jewish community would have accepted him? Over time, however, Koreans started understanding what kind of man he was, so they opened up more. The master Oyama also understood that as well, so he himself never blamed Korea or Koreans. You will understand if you know what his name 大山 倍達 really means. If he was alive today, do you think he would appreciate your comments about Koreans?
