I was born in Oregon then went to college... joined the military.. lived in 14 states, three countries, two wars...I got out of the Army and the first thing I did was move back to Oregon after 17 years. I took my mom to a Duck game and they played this song. I had never heard it before and it blew me away how close it hit home (especially with 58,000 fellow Oregonians singing along) EDIT: Unfortunately Covid got mom on Valentines Day last year but at least she could say she saw a game in Autzen.
I wasn't born there . I was born in N.Y.C. But I call Oregon my home state. Been away from there for to long hope to move back for good in next few years. I love this song so much GO DUCKS NOT BUCKEYE. YES I LIVE IN HELL Buckeye world. I wear my green and yellow every weekend.
Awesome. I've lived all over the country, mainly from Florida, lived in Eugene the last three years but now in the Bay Area and there's nowhere I'd rather be than Oregon.
I didn't do college first, joined the military, and am trying to get back home now, this video is awesome because it shows autzen being built, I have pictures of my grandfather who was on that construction crew there at autzen as they were building it. This is an awesome song and video...Oregon the best place to live in all the world!
nathan12291 you could be a Duckeye. I was one when I was with my ex. He went to Thee OSU and I went to and worked at the U of O. Now that's he left me and he's an arse screw the Buckeyes!! 😜❤️😜🐻🐻
My Californian born and bred daughter, now a UofO freshman hasn't stopped thanking me for putting up the $ for her to attend and this is the song she sang with heartfelt emotion at Thanksgiving. Oregon you have my heart and soul!
When you come into Oregon via the east and the Columbia river Gorge opens up in the horizon uhhhh Hard to beat Oregon . Most beautiful place in the United states!
That is I-84 from Boise.. it's a long stretch but yes, once you get closer to Portland its really green..I've made that trip many times.. Eastern Oregon is dry and kinda desolate.. but I'm from the Willamette Valley where its ALWAYS GREEN. 😁 so I'm biased.. overall, the entire state really is beautiful .. and ya..I've been to games at AUTZEN STADIUM, Shout is what they play between 3rd and 4th quarter.. ALWAYS
Born and raised in Oregon (minus 3 years in California when i was 5). Dad was Disc Jockey, went where the work was, Klamath Falls, Grants Pass, Salem, Portland, until I graduated High School in Grants Pass. That was the late 80's through the 90's, and I really can't remember a time of my life that was more open for exploration as a youth with the vast array of landscapes, rivers, coast lines, and open forests to traverse. I moved to Utah in 2001, always wanted my childhood experience in Oregon to pass on to my own kids, possibly move back some day. But there are too many freedoms I have currently that Oregon would not afford, such as my being a Gun owner, and the decline of Portland and various once beautiful towns and cities. Oregon has become California in many respects, and it saddens me to have so many fond memories of what was once a great State.
"Chills", HAH! I'm 50 year old grown a$$ man with tatts into punk and heavy metal and I sob nearly uncontrollably like a '60's teen girl seeing The Beatles live, whether at Autzen, alone watching it at home to cheer me up or even at work in front of people LOL! Just touches on everything dear to me, growing up loving the beauty of Oregon, going to games with my dad , moving away but coming back, you name it... Yeah, yeah, I'm a little emotional but better than being cold stone hearted! :)
I feel the same. I am from Georgia and moved here to Eugene last year to live with my daughter. In that year I have come to love 💚💛 Oregon. It’s home now.
And it's now 2024. I am back in my native Georgia on a visit (first in 3 years). Georgia doesn't feel like home anymore. Can't wait to get back home to Oregon!
What a great song. Spent 34 years in Oregon. Left 10 years ago to take a job in Indiana. This song brought tears to my eyes. I've enjoyed my life in the Midwest but there is nowhere like "Home." Thank you Matt.
This song always brings tears!!! I lived in Oregon from 1979 to 2014. I moved to Indiana to help my Mom. It is now 2022. My heart is still in Oregon! I bleed green and yellow. Miss it soo very much!! 💚💛 #alwaysaduck
I'm a 6th generation of pioneer Oregonians who are buried in the Pioneer Cemetery on U of O property. I grew up in Coos County Oregon for 28 years. I've lived in California and Washington for many years. This song encapsulates exactly how I feel about Oregon. I hope even non-Duck fans that have left their heart in Oregon can appreciate the sentiment like I do. Thank you, Mr. Kearney. Woody Guthrie would have been very proud of this song!
If it's the cemetery I remember on campus (how many can there be?) it was, oh, a hundred or two hundred yards away from the music building. Anyway, at that one I remember one of the dirt path/short cuts went right over a grave. We'd get drunk there sometimes.......... Ahhhh, mammaries.
I have been waiting my entire life for someone to write a song like this about Oregon. A pop song with mild indie influences; a mix of acoustic and electric instrumentation; clever verse lyrics and an resoundingly uplifting chorus. Not too hot, not too cold, it's just right. It perfectly captures both the state itself and its unique place in every resident's heart. And, love them or hate them, the Ducks are more FUN to watch than just about any other team, in any sport, collegiate or professional.
I left my heart in Oregon about 70 years ago when our family spent the summer with family in Springfield. Wild black berries, picking corn and green beans! For a city kid this was great. Moved from Los Angeles to Oregon 10 years ago. I finally came home to Oregon!
Oregon's pretty cool, but I love California more. I lived in California and was born there. But moved here in 2009. I don't really like Oregon that much. But if you ever live in Oregon, your very welcome there. But it's still an amazing place.
Vanessa Scott Yeah, i was also born in California, I dont remember much though from it. My mom moved me and her family up into Oregon to get away from the gangs that are in down south california. But california to me is as good as oregon. Its sad that california is going into a drought though.
First time I heard this song was at my son's first game as a Duck. I'm a California man but I gotta say that song got me. Emotional day -- tribute to Veterans before the game (I'm a Navy guy), the game itself, the crowd, the spirit -- overwhelming. I love when they play this video and I hope they never stop. Gets me every damn time.
I went to my first Ducks game in Eugene last weekend and they played this song. I’ve never lived in Oregon but I felt I left my heart there. Maybe some day I’ll move there. Beautiful state!
Honestly same, I have visited a couple times then I heard this song in autzen and I have wanted to move out ever since. Something about Oregon felt like home
Native son of the south Florida born and ga-raised. Spent 4 AMAZING years in Oregon courtesy of Uncle Sam. I cannot begin to describe how much of myself I discovered the wildernesses of Oregon. If I discovered this song when I was prepping for my move I would probably have gotten out of the military and stayed. I truly have left a piece of myself out there.
I miss this during Oregon football games. I'm dating someone from the bay area and when we'd go to games she never really understood what this means to Oregonians. People never will until they live here.
We lost to Auburn tonight now we are headed home to face Reno Nevada! We r coming home to the place of our first love, Autzen Stadium! They fought hard tonight I’m so proud of my Ducks win or lose!
I may be young but ORegon will always and forever be my home. I've spent all my 14 years of life here. I was born in Portland and have lived in Gresham for my whole life. I don't plan on living here forever but this will always be the place I come back to!
I'm stationed in Missouri but I was born and raised in Medford. I miss my state like crazy, this song brings back so many memories. We truly live in the best state in the Union. Can't wait to come home.
Full Effort Outdoors I live in GP 30 miles away from Medford. Is it just me or does it seem that Oregon has such a creative environment and everything is decorated for the time of the year.
I did leave my heart & soul in Oregon. Selling off everything in Pennsylvania and COMING HOME TO OREGON with this song on repeat for 3000 miles! I cry tears of joy when I hear this song.
Born and raised up the McKenzie River. Roamed the hills, floated the river and climbed a lot of trees. Played a lot of tackle football with the neighbors. Got to go to my first Oregon game when I was 12 and I was hooked! Never miss a chance to watch the games. I bleed green and yellow. Living in the state of Washington now, but waiting for that day when I can move back to Oregon. I can’t come too soon!
Grew up in Oregon since I was a little boy, my best memories are all there. Graduated high school and immediately joined the military and moved away. Everyday I miss this place more, all my family is back there. Cant wait to move back one day.
I have taken my home state for granted, wanted to move over mtns hated the rain. Love it now, all the great camping snow skiing fishing hiking so many natural wonders. And of course the Ducks!!!
I'm a die hard Coug fan from Seattle. My friends and I went to a WSU-UO game and they played this song and it was a great all around experience, definitely enjoyed my time visiting Autzen! PNW is unmatched! 💪😎
I've lived in Massachusetts my whole life but Oregon would definitely be one of the state's I would love to live in. I've grown up watching the Ducks. They just grew on me. And the State looks beautiful and filled with a lot of generous people. Hope to make it out there next year to see a game at Autzen. Go Ducks 🦆💪💚
@@anonymouseagle2576 probably next season is will make my way out to Autzen for a game. I am traveling to Ohio September 12th and potentially going to the Ohio state vs Oregon game (which will be my first live game ever). But definitely been a dream of mine to watch a game in Autzen 🦆
Born and raised in canby! With everything that has been going on with our state as of late (riots in Portland and other major cities) makes me want to move, but I keep coming back to this song to show/tell myself how beautiful this state actually is. Doesn’t matter what people try to do to it. If it comes down to it I will proudly defend my state. My heart belongs to Oregon and wants to say!
When this song plays at Austen everyone starts singing and dancing even players! The Atmosphere at Autzen is amazing when this song plays! ( And always ) So Ducks
It always gets forgotten what makes this state great... it's not about the political rough patches, homeless issues, forest fires, and legislation... It's the people and the land. It's as close as you can get to a state without a class divide. Don't ever let them take that away!
Thank you Mat, this song is so great. And you are so right. Oregon will always be my home. From one Oregonian to another you are awesome. And GO DUCKS !
my dad played this song all the time when I was little , just remembered it and looked it up immediately. I never lived in Oregon, but my dad did and this used to be my absolute favorite song. it makes me feel so happy. We used to visit Oregon every year for a family reunion when I was little and I truly do believe that I left my heart in Oregon. such an amazing place. My dad loves it there so much that his store is called famous in Oregon, a plant shop because plants are truly famous in Oregon.
Heard the band play this in the Rose parade and after watching us win the rose bowl some hours later, I had to listen to this song on the long drive back to Oregon GO DUCKS!!!
I used to live in Oregon. I made amazing friends throughout my time there. I went to beautiful places and experienced unimaginable things. I live in Oklahoma now and am having the same experiences and I love it but I will always be an Oregonian at heart. For the rest of my life. ❤️🌲
I heard this song and saw this video for the first time at Autzen Stadium after the first quarter of the Ducks win over USC on Saturday night. I'm a U of O alum (class of 94) and drove across the entire state with all of it beauty to come back to Eugene for the game. This song really moved me listening to and watching the video and crowd reaction.
I’m from a small town in Oregon Clatskanie Oregon grew up there Astoria and Seaside will always be an Oregonian however I’ve live on Vancouver Washington and have lived all over Washington I consider myself both haha 🤣 love Matt loved ships in the night and closer to love
My daughter goes to UO I was born in Mexico, but when I hear this song Autzen stadium at the football game during parents weekend it sounds chills through my spirit , love this song , Go Ducks 🫶
I left my home last year to join the Army. I just heard this. I have never heard a song speak more to me. I'm away for now, but don't think for one second I ever forget where home is.
