Don't know why he is complaining since it was a match, the other times he thought they should have been a match and they didn't match them.. (shakes head..) I don't know the women still beak the Champ even if the judge hadn't match those two..
Whale was not a bad answer. RD was just embarrassed because it was definitely not a match for fish and he wanted to distance himsrlf from the poor decision of the judge.
The judges made a mistake matching whale with fish. A whale is not a fish. It's a mammal. Also, they're still vacillating on whether or not to match general with specific.
Gene and the judge let Suzie oust Jane by allowing her to change her ears lowered answered. Ironically Jim's answer that eliminated Suzie was ear also. Suzie made over $6,000 off her one lucky win, so she can't be too upset.
Ridiculous isn't it? I've seen several episodes where the celebrities word was a match yet the judges say no. Yet this time they accept a mammal as a fish! I also wonder sometime on the super match is they are behind it loading the answers after the contestant chooses a word to determine who wins and how much.

She was predominantly known as a voice actress, and used that nasally voice to great effect in films and television shows. I love the show, but I have to disagree; Patti Deutsch, was a terrible player, worse that Brett. She only cared about coming up with her own funny answers and never showed a care about matching the contestants, you know, the purpose for the game.. giving cute answers had its time, but she never showed any care for helping the contestants.
Regarding Jim Backus, you didn't mention his three seasons of work as the co-star of the Joan Davis sitcom "I Married Joan," seen on NBC from 1952 to 1955.
I still like to know why Patti and Bob Barker, for that matter, were not around to do MGSynd. Bob wasn't on much during the 70's but Patti was and she only did one week of synd. I missed her after that and wish she could have been on more. I am guessing she didn't do MG/HS either..

Richard Dawson just has an uncanny knack with the big-money match! It seemed obvious that this contestant (Emmy) had decided before even coming onstage that she would choose Richard if she had the opportunity. Good choice!

Patti's the new girl at school, so she smiles broadly. Later, she's the surly teenager who smokes behind the gym, so she uses that weird emotionless gaze.
Nipsey, Richard and Betty are indeed that question's league of decency; it is a bit of a litmus test of one's sensibility: 'shot' or 'fed' - destroy or nurture. Yea she does, but even SHE doesn't mismatch on purpose. To lose the game for a contestant would be unforgivable. They'd never have them back on the show!

Why does brett sommers have to be so mean and hatefull every show. Really back fired on her here it is 50 years later and everybody can see what a bitch she was.
I feel like they both were sort of alpha and Richard definitely wanted to have his own show. However, sometimes it feels like Richard has a little crush on Gene?
They worked well together. Richard knew when to lay out and when to jump in. Gene knew how to set up a straight line so Richard could take the joke. I thought they had great chemistry together.
