Ladies and Gentleman, I don't know about all of you but I grew up in the 60's and 70's and I miss those days and watching these shows. People were so much more respectful, even when we disagreed we at least heard each other out. I don't miss the bell bottoms or polyester though.
I liked bell bottoms especially flared leg pants, and they looked a lot better on most people than these skinny jeans and yoga pants. The public doesn't need to be able to tell whether someone's knees (ahem) are dimpled.
This was pretty tame. The show was pushing boundaries but it wasn't pushing any further than other shows like All In The Family, The Jeffersons, Carol Burnett, The Tonight Show etc.. Also remember this was daytime TV it had definite boundaries regarding profanity and some words were totally off limits. Within those those those limits the show had goofy periods where everyone went off the rails. The cast's chemistry made this show the huge hit it became.
When John chooses Richard for the $5000 match (about 4:05), Brett bows her head and whispers "Oh, thank God!" Something tells me she didn't like those one-on-one matches.
Well the way she reacts every times someone picks her for the head to head I agree. They all get nervous when picked, but Richard doesn't. I don't know why the other panelist get upset when he is called so much. But then again that is just me and I have watched too many episodes.. ;0)
She actually has a decent record of matching on the head-to-head, but she gets so stressed because she doesn't want to cost a contestant big money. It's funny, because quite a few celebs get nervous when selected, even the calm and collect Betty White. If I were a contestant, I'd pick Brett, because she often gives the same answers I think of. Even here, the first thing that came to my mind was what the contestant said, so I wouldn't have matched Richard. I wonder what Brett would have said?
Gee, has anyone tried that number that Robert had on the card.. ROFL! Another episode.. ;0) Of course it was a after dinner taping.. ;0) Uhh... I not sure that is women lib there Brett.. ;0)
@@ShortyGirl63 Well they all treated Richard with kid gloves and like he was gold or something. He had been in the country since the 50's thou. I think that is part of the reason he went south later on. Gene always said good things about him, I don't think Gene ever said anything bad about him but he picked on everyone else's answer.. Yes, I know after he left he did that was edited it out, and a couple of other jokes off and on thou the years.. And again he might have not wanted to embarrass him like you said, I think, still be friends at this point I think.. ;0) Hard to tell, for me to when the friends went south..
Did he say leave or leaf? The joke he based it on is "let's make like a tree and leaf/leave". But for sure he shouldn't have been given the 2nd match. I'm glad it didn't decide the outcome.
ROFL! Another fine after dinner episode! :0) ROFL! Love ya Gene! ;0) ROFL! Love ya Patty! ;0) ROFL! Love the entrance, silliness, voices and fun Gene! ;0) First fade in from camera 5 during intro.. ;0) When you hot your hot, when you not your not.. ;0) patient.. Suitcase.. That the kind of answer you get from a PHD... ;0) leaf/leave.. The judge isn’t too smart.. Just kidding.. ;0) drop dead. The plant got really pushes.. Dry up and blow away.. Brett talks to her plants.. They are dead.. Clown.. Grmph.. We have to send him congress... creek.. Geek.. Behind.. Every heard of someone chicht hiking throwing a moon.. ;0) skirt.. Tongue.. Nose.. Glue.. Nail.. Worry John, worry.. ;0) drunk.. You hollywood people are too much.. ;0) pregie.. Naked..
Ummm, yeah, we definitely knew how to flip the bird to someone. But it would have been considered way too dirty to reference it on TV or in polite society. Just about anyone over the age of 10 knew every foul word and gesture in the English language. But there were certain unwritten rules about when, where, and with whom they were used. Today that seems a bit prudish, I suppose but I think it made for a better, more civilized society.
Ya know you guys really DON'T deserve an answer for that. It's been 2 years, you guys know EXACTLY why Brett says what she says. It and she MAKES the entire show! (with Charles). After 2 years, I KNOW you know that so I don't know WHY you people still do this!
@@kristabrewer6736 I said Robert Vaughan was bad at the game. Richard Dawson was actually quite good at it. It was Dawson's ego that got in the way of things.
