Michael Sebastian I was thinking the same thing! Policemen always get great applause on this 1970’s show, back when people still had respect for the rule of law.
There are more good cops than not, however back in the day everything wasn't exposed as it is today, also discrimination was, I'm sure, less frowned on. There are a lot of things that you can't get away with today that people did back then.

And he didn't always get the number 1 answer. Many times his answers were 100 or 250. And his reaction was usually that he's surprised that it wasn't higher.

So my daughter read that on the 2nd half hour that Brett and Charles, Gene and Richard had Martinis between shows. Richard hated Brett and she hated him!
I would have been doing the same thing. People now don't understand that times were just different back then. People weren't so uptight. The ladies played along- it was all just for the show.
@@mehboobkm3728 I'm not saying it's ok for men to be chauvinistic. It was unwrittenly scripted. I was all for the ERA and women's lib. But it was all for show, and it helped contribute to the jovial nature of the show. That made it a hit. They wouldn't just walk out into the street and do the same things to women passing by. Look at little boys on the beach flirting with girls. It's just a part of human nature. Is it wrong for men to flirt? How do they walk that tightrope. Sometimes entertainers need a little extra incentive to get the creative juices flowing.
