Brett scores her 10th H/H match today! This moves her up above Bert Convy, who is actually a very good player and had been ahead of Brett and Richard for months and months and months. The amazing thing was that right before the audience match, the contestant quipped: "My wife said she'd kill me if I didn't pick Richard Dawson!" And then he goes on to pick Richard, Gary, and Orson for suggestions. It's fairly unusual for a contestant to choose a celeb for the H/H match without first choosing them for an audience match suggestion. But it worked out for the contestant today, and it's always a treat to see Brett play (and win) the H/H match! Gene was such a clown. I loved how he didn’t take himself too seriously. He let Betty pull up his trouser leg and he just went with it! Once Bob Barker was on there and they threatened to mess up His hair and he almost lost his mind! Richard is so funny... when he made the funny voice. Everyone who did it was funny but his timing .. priceless.

Lately there have been a lot more questions "aimed" at Brett -- almost daily now, more than those regarding any of the other celebs -- and the Brett questions always seem to provide ample opportunity for everyone to roast her. This reflects not only Brett's willingness to laugh at herself, but also her vast popularity among the home viewing audience at the time.

It’s a “bundle of sticks for fuel” and was in the dictionary at least up to the 90s and probably a lot longer. I can’t imagine anyone not knowing that, especially in 2000; the definition was used frequently when people used the word disparagingly.

Rafael Aviles it’s not about someone else getting a chance, it’s about picking the person that is gonna help you win the money. If I was the contestant.. screw not hurting someones feelings. I want to win. Lol That’s why they came up with the wheel and that’s when people stopped winning as much and the show went into decline. Richard can’t help he was good and had natural instinct.
@@Heavenzvoice No the show went decline thanks to the bad decision on CBS part to move the show from the afternoon slot to the morning for a month and then move it back. The show lost it's core audience thanks to that move. They came up with the Star Wheel because Richard wanted out of his contact so they were preparing for Richard to leave the show. I like it better thou, at least you didn't really had an idea who the contestants would pick each time and gave the other a change to show they could to match in the head to head. Althou Richard was good, so was Charles, Fannie, Betty and others, Joyce was 3 for 3 at one time early in the series, who didn't get the chance as much to do it but were just as good. Even Fannie hit several in one week that was out this world.. ;0)
Yes, THANK YOU. Brett has some brilliant matches too. I know she gets nervous but I actually made a playlist of Brett Somers Match Game Wins. I love her so much and I'm always so happy when she matches.

Sometimes Gary went too far, he picked on Brett unnecessarily. Brett was a nice looking woman, she was on stage, I've seen some of her earlier pictures. Brett and Charles had a playful routine. Charles could not be replaced Gary should been a little more respectful. Some of his joke was more annoying than funny. Now I like Gary but he tried to hard to get Attention on Match Game. jeff, there is nothing wrong with what Orson said. Look up the word in Webster's Collegiate and you'll find that one of the definitions is " a bundle of sticks"
