Man! Jack comes onto the scene blasting! Within the first 5 minutes he matches the $500 response and then matches the contestant for $5,000 right after.
Yes, it's unusual for a contestant to choose a brand-new celeb for the head-to-head match, given that there's been no time to get a sense of how that celeb is at the game and what kind of answers they might give. (Not having played a single round, it wasn't even clear how familiar Jack was with the game.) Most contestants would have gone with Richard out of force of habit, or maybe Brett or Charles if they felt a sort of connection to one of them (or even Patti based on a familiarity from her many prior weeks on the show), but this contestant went out on a limb, and it paid off big for her! -- Trivia: Jack's age came up a couple of times, so I looked and he was born on June 16, 1907, making him 67 or 68 (depending on what month this was taped) at the time. One of the older celebs to appear on MG, certainly. Edit: Despite his age, he came up with a pretty "hip" answer -- I doubt many men in their 60s were watching or even familiar with "The Partridge Family" at the time (it certainly wasn't the show's target demographic). Plus, he got the hang of the "fake out" pretty quick (which most of the celebs do when they have the correct answer).
Grandpa Joe from a Willy Wonka! AND, the mail sorter in the original Miracle on 34th Street who suggests sending all the Santa letters to the courthouse...
M J So that was not the one with Edmund Gwen was it? Can you tell me which actor played Kris Kringle in the one you’re referring to - would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
"José Feliciano" - It was natural for Jack Albertson to think of him because, after all, José Feliciano played and sang both the opening and closing themes of _Chico and the Man_ which was still in production in 1975. He also appeared in at least one episode. On the other hand, _The Partridge Family_ had ended its original run more than a year earlier.
Gee I'm a Old soul, that was either born too early or to late But I just love Match Game. 🥰 I thought Gene was the Perfect Host. I just loved Charles Brett, Richard, Betty White and Fanny Flagg among others. But of Course I Loved Gene Rayburn 👍. He kept them in line. Knew how to spice it up, never let the Stars forget it was his show. These Episodes add a touch of happiness and spice to my life.😊 I might have missed seeing a lot of Match Game, But thank Father of most high, I can see all the Episodes now. Thank you to whoever put this on RU-vid. I love you.🤗💓. Love, respect and positivity always.✌️🖖🕯️💕✨🙂👾🌌👣👋. Vee .😊 👍
Gene smelled Brett's hair, which reminded me that in the 1970s there was a product called, "Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific!" Well, whuddya know? I just looked it up and it's still for sale.
First panel I’ve seen in a while where everyone is deceased. Also, if this week was taped on May 6th, whoever said the Emmys already happened was wrong. Emmys occurred on May 15th.
@@deanstrand4260 No, he wasn't. The word 'civilians' is used informally to mean anyone not in a particular group, especially occupational groups that have their own non-mainstream lifestyles such as theater casts, sports teams, circuses, traveling troupes, etc.
H/H match update: Semi-regular Patti Deutch (1 H/H attempt, no match) joins our three regulars this week. Filling out the panel are two newcomers: Jack Albertson and Lynn Redgrave. Our contestant chooses Jack right off the bat. A bit unusual, but not the first time a new panelist has been called on for the H/H match first thing on Monday's program. It should be mentioned that the new rule didn't apply here - the contestant was free to choose anyone... ...and Jack Albertson becomes the 31st MG celebrity to score a head-to-head match. This was obviously his first attempt (the poor guy hadn't even played a regular round yet). The other 30 celebs to have scored a H/H match are the three regulars of course, plus, in alphabetical order: Don Adams, Morey Amsterdam, Orson Bean, Charlie Brill, Joyce Bulifant, Gary Burghoff, Jack Carter, Bert Convy, Bill Daily, Ann Elder, Fannie Flagg, Stu Gilliam, Elaine Joyce, Carolyn Jones, Jack Klugman, Michael Landon, June Lockhart, Allen Ludden, Jo Ann Pflug, Madlyn Rhue, Kaye Stevens, Trish Stewart, Loretta Switt, Richard Thomas, Bobby Van, Betty White, and Jo Anne Worley. *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 476, excluding the lost/missing episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")
I have a Match Game question also. The bank robbers latest heist was a fail which is no surprise considering how he couldn't find his gun so he decided to rob the place with a _____.
I think they needed a protagonist like Brett for the others, (esp. Charles), to feed off of, so she was like a loony straight-man. I actually liked Brett, and even though annoying, sometimes she came off as amusing, when taken in the whole context of the show.

Well with Jack Albertson Head to head match Match Game 73-75 has now officially giving away 1 million dollars! Richard isn't too far behind to give away his first 1 million dollars.. Stay tune.. ;0) And it looking like that MG might give away another million dollars in cash by the end of MG76 if Richard gives away another 500,000 on his own.. ;0)
@@joeambrose3260 There were a few Richard Dawson fans that were wondering how much Richard gave away while on Match Game, and what was his percentage on the head to head match, so I decided I would find out.
Oh I really like Rhonda! Awesome personality and pretty face. But I hope she did not end up marrying that hideous man they showed in the audience!! lol
Why an Earth you choose that funny thumbnails? The women are all mouth open looking not very intelligent. Or is it only a coincidence? But that Peggy! She’s one of the most beautiful woman I’ve seen.
