This is one of the few handful of episodes that never made it to air on CBS. This is the 1st episode of the last week of CBS Episode of Match Game. Very Sad!

Also...This show really lost its footing in the later years... The best parts of the show came from the stars' initial commentary on the question and from them writing down the answers... in 1979... they just edited that normally hilarious part out and just went right to the contestant's answer =[

Matt Karpinski Well, there is a documentary that is posted here about Match Game, and it said that once Richard Dawson was on Family Feud, that show took the number one slot away from Match Game. Then the time changed from an afternoon show to a morning show, which dropped the ratings further.

Matt Karpinski And I thought that the point of the question is that they were looking for something that resembled 'shaving cream'-So why should it matter if Brett's answer had dairy in it or not?

Yuko Asho Technically, Cool Whip is NOT whipped cream, but most people use it the same way and its practical use is the same. If the same situation occurred today, I think it would have counted.

Being that it was taped in '79, I was a high school freshman then and back then I got excited at the sight of Elaine Joyce and Marcia Wallace.

Basil Fawlty once said "he had a bit of luck on the gee gees." That's the only time I've heard "gee gee" in terms of "a horse."

This is one of the very few shows featuring two cast members of the same show (Bill Daily and Marcia Wallace, The Bob Newhart Show) on the panel. (After hearing some of the later dialogue, I wonder if this was taped AFTER the dinner break!)

These final shows were taped on March 10-11, 1979 (the final Match Game PM of the season was taped at the end of the Sunday session). The cancellation was probably a fait accompli, but CBS commissioned the soap opera Love of Life to be the next victim of the 4:00PM/3:00 PM Central death row -- and the soap, which had run for 25 minutes (the final five minutes were reserved for the mid-day news) started writing and taping 30-minute shows, leading to Match Game's quick hook.

seems like CBS was look to get rid of LoL in the first place..putting a late-morning/early-afternoon soap on at 4p didn't make sense..and by this time, affiliates were exercising more freedom..my affiliate, for one, did NOT continue with LoL..less than a year later, LoL was gone - and with given only two weeks notice, none of the stories were concluded: LoL simply went off the air..an insult to a show (to say nothing of the audience) that had been on the air for more than 28y....

When was this supposed to have been broadcast? If it was supposed to air in mid-summer, it may have been pre-empted for coverage of Skylab crashing down to earth. If it was supposed to air at the start of October, it may have been pre-empted for coverage of Pope John Paul II's arrive in the United States.

Well, cool whip is made with oil and the other stuff is real milk, cool whip is kind of gross too. Also, isn't pasties and a bra basically the same thing? They cover boobs and strippers wear them on stage

I know, strippers in Toronto don't wear them much, they can take everything off. At least when I last went to one, but on Match Game, they should be a little more flexible, pasties is a little smaller, but both cover the same thing.
