This is by far my favorite episode produced of Match Game. Gene wears this hideous suit which the entire panel is disgusted with. Just classic! Bert Convy, Brett Somers, Jack Carter, Fannie Flagg, Richard Dawson, and Ann Elder
@@JAWrightonline at first I didn't understand the gag I was just laughing at the panel ignoring Gene until Jack referred to the suit as a station break in Poland and Gene reacted with a glamour pose hahahahahah sure wished this episode was in a higher resolution.... #GameMatchRules
My Brother and I watched all the Match Game Shows during lunchtime in the early Summertime. Eating Lunch before we headed back out to another fun filled day of throwing rocks at each other and play with dirt, riding bikes at the river and buying soda at the 5 &10. Those were the days!!!
LOVE these old MATCH GAME episodes. I was only five years old when this episode first aired and one of my earliest childhood memories was sitting on the living room floor of my childhood home in Connecticut in front of our large CONSOLE television (people of a certain age will remember them), and eating my bowl of cereal in the morning usually Trix or Count Chocula and watching MATCH GAME. This show was a lot of fun and it was great for teaching a kid like me who liked to read about ABSTRACT thinking in terms of putting WORDS together. Great memories!!
I grew up with Family Feud, and the Price is Right in the 70s... I didn't realize there was Match Game until 20-frigging 22!!! while still keeping myself in isolation doing my best to keep from being infected with this goddam covid19!!! #MatchGameRulesInBingeWatching
In case anybody is wondering why they went so nuts after she won $5,000, I checked and $5,000 in 1973 is like almost $28,000 now in 2015. I was in the Navy then and I made just a little over $4,000 for the whole year so if I had won $5,000 in one shot I'd have probably gone a little crazy too.
As awful as Gene's clown suit ensemble is (even for the early '70s) when he and the winning contestant stood next to each other, with her cherry pink and white plaid pantsuit, against the orange set - I could feel my optic nerves begin fry ...
I was born in '92 and I still remember watching this with my mom before the 2000's when tv started getting stupid. I'd rather watch these shows than modern tv (besides Supernatural and Dr Who! ^u^) any day.
Everybody feels the same way because the people were all acting normal. Today, they’re afraid to have people act normal. They’re afraid of political correctness. God for bid, someone may insult a mannequin!
That’s a shame for the losing contestant. Pretty sure Richard’s answer UNDERCOVER WORK was to match if she’d said something about skilled in the bedroom. Not snooping.
Of all the times I saw Match Game uploads from your channel & on the tube, I had never seen Gene wear a suit of plaid! This is the first that I seen Gene with plaid on! THIS IS FANTASTIC!!!
"Looks like a station break in Poland!" THAT'S putting it mildly! YEESH!! XD Seriously though, I felt like I was dying from laughing at Gene's poor tastes in suits like the one he was wearing!!
It's an interesting time warp to see an episode from the earlier days of the show, Buzzr network only shows episodes from 1978. Brett looks so different!
Gene, Gene, Gene...plaid with a polka dot tie? Not like the men of the panel are any better, though. Bert Convy killed a wild Corduroy for his jacket, and Jack Carter's shirt looks like an acid trip trying to vomit. And my answer to Mary Ellen's first question would have been "A giant plaid suit".
they look about as wasted as i've ever seen them, i'm thinking brett probably needs help getting down the stairs, everyone is sluggish, gene is soldiering on, jack carter about the only one with any chatter until the big win. brett never moved when everyone started running around. looked it up, it was a "last show", they used to cram 12 shows into a weekend, they look exhausted.
Pardon me, but all the episodes can't be posted. It takes a lot of time and effort. If there are select episodes that are not posted, you can always ask for a personal dvd of the entire week of episodes!
First Super Match, part 2: CHRISTMAS Grabielle-Braden, round 1, question B: "It was a sequel to "Them!"; a giant ANT ate Los Angeles." (Bzzt!) Question A: "An old standby; DOUSE her." (Over the buzzer) "No, with water!" Round 2, question B: "It's a very violent theater; he found someone's HEAD." (Bzzt!) Question A: "Given his famous quote, I figure he was decent at MARTINI-SHAKING…" (Bzzt!) Second Super Match, part 1: (if asked before Richard) OFFICE (if asked after Richard) MAN Part 2: CUBE
I call shenanigans on this lousy episode. Dawson meant LOVEMAKING when he wrote down UNDERCOVER which has absolutely NOTHING to do with snooping. SUCKING perhaps but not SNOOPING. EPIC FAIL!!
Don't remember too much of this show--little before my time--would watch it on GSN. Always thought Gene looked a little like cult leader Jim Jones...creepy.
True. He did mean something very different than "snooping." The "undercover work" he meant was sexual in nature. Snooping has nothing to do with anything at all. It's not generous, it's a lie.
Funniest game show ever....i love match game....will see if the new one is as funny I know it won't be, but I can wish.....panel funny as h___l Y"all know that plaid suit fabric was expensive...they don't make material like that anymore.....
