Some of these episodes were 10 years old when I was born, but I think they are absolute gems of television history. It is a shame that the rest of my generation has no appreciation for this kind of humour.
There was a clip (I believe it's the GSN countdown one) that showed Allen "coming after" Gene for a risque remark he made to Betty. It was hilarious. :)
Yes that was when the contestant Maxine, during the super match segment, said, "I haven't tried Betty yet", and Gene immediately responds, "I have!", and Allen gets up and goes after Gene. Betty is laughing hysterically. PURE COMIC GOLD!!
I know I'm late to this party, but Brett did reference hair as she revealed her answer, leading most to think she was thinking along the lines of Leia.
You know...I understand why they would like to grab on Betty, back then she was a babe! Even today she is still gorgeous and still funny as hell! Love Betty White! I hope I can meet her someday or does anyone know if you can write her? I would love to write her just to let her know, not that she doesn't already I'm sure, what a gem she is to people!
Derrière actually means behind as in behind the door (derrière la porte). As a maculine noun, it mean buttocks. I once said, "LA derrière", and my French professor said, "It's masculine! The best things are masculine in French!" "ère" is often a feminine ending. So, a pain in the a*** is "un mal au derrière".
There was an episode where Allen was a panelist but Betty was in the audience. When Allen gave 3 bad answers on his cards, Gene took the cards and brought them to Betty in the audience. Then Gene and Betty started hugging and kissing each other and Allen said he's got the #1 daytime show and now he's gotten my wife!
