Guys, being a referee, I can say that it was a very difficult game to ref, both sides played with aggression and passion that being said, I can clearly agree that at least the Vasquez goal should stand, IDK why the OG was called back but the freekick goal is a goal, and TFC could be drawing that game, Oh well, TFC go through, LETS GO T.O.
The problem isn't that the ref called them wrong even. It's that we've brought VAR into this league for a reason, yet he refused to look at either. Referees' make mistakes, it happens. But there were so many last night that it's hard to understand how this guy still has a job.
Coraga 1 why are you like that. I like tfc. I never once agreed that the referee was aways right, I just said that it was generally a hard game and that the goals should have stood. idk why u need to get so annoyed.
A lot of people are saying that BWP should have made that goal (including BWP himself) but that was a very difficult shot to make because of the great goalkeeping by Bono. He had to make a split second decision, trusted his good instincts, and came out aggressive, really closed that space and made himself big. Excellent play.
This league will never get respect worldwide with these bush league refs calling games. The refs should be ashamed at some of the calls they made or didn't make on both sides of the pitch. And where was VAR on our two called back goals? Aren't those situations exactly what it was put into use for? What a farce. It's not the way I wanted us to get through but at least we did it. Shame it has to be without our two forwards but TFC have shown throughout the season that we can win without our stars. Hopefully Altidore's red gets rescinded after a review. I should have gone home feeling great that we made it to the next round but the game left such a bad taste in my mouth. I'm looking forward to another conference finals with a rival.
I agree with you, but i think there's something that goes beyond the MLS when it comes to Altidore and Kljestan. I noticed it in the 1st leg of this match up too. USMNT issues maybe?
Perhaps but I really think it is just because he is an emotional player and his blood was up in this match. I think he has been emotionally rattled by the booing directed at him in Atlanta and NY and came into this match on edge. He had shown maturity since 2015, when he received three red cards, up until these MLS playoffs.
I was at the game and these "highlights" are not the real ones, unfortunately the ref thought he he had the game in the bag and the highlights were his fuck ups and the crowd letting him have it.
Im not a hardcore soccer/football fan...i was greatly entertained with this game...with that said the refs was clearly partial towards the red bulls...the freekick was a goal and the own goal by the red bulls was clearly not offside...and the no foul calls...disgrace...
The horrible ref didn't actually jeopardized ttoronto's next match. Jozy and seba did, getting expelled in such a childish way. I'm a tfc fan , love the guys, but they are top professionals. They should know better. And to seba, from an italian guy to another :" stop being a CAZZARO! " With huge support...
