I've had half of this model for quite a while, so long in fact that I have forgotten who it came from. When the second trailer, which was missing, arrived last week I knew it was time for a 'Major Pack' makeover! - Here it is, I hope you like it. Superb restoration. These models get played with in the sand and usually very beat up. They were both Major pack and King size models. The castings were the same except for the M4 or K4 model codes.

For my 8th birthday I was given a road train but I'm sure that the tractor unit was blue and the trailers were box trailers. It was 60 years ago so the memory is a little fuzzy. You have great patience Marty and it's a pleasure to see, again, these vids from your back catalogue. I'm looking forward to many new ones now that you are back after the move.

Nice work! Those Tamiya paint jars are not filled all the way because you can fill it the rest of the way with thinners and mix it. This makes the whole thing airbrush ready. It’s worked for me whenever I’ve gone to use any tamiya stuff

Hi Marty,,in 1968 I drove a 1966 GMC ( Jimmy ") 7000 , and was " identical to your cab,,It had a Detroit Diesel engine with a 10 speed transmission. It was red with a white grill. This brings back a bit of my younger years and my passion for Matchbox Truck's , Thank you for a great video.

For the lumpy spray paint, some people suggest leaving the can into hot water before (as hot as your hand can stand) and that helps making the paint flow a little better. Of course you have to use absobant paper to remove any water near the zozzle to avoir getting drops of water. Kept up the good work !

Happy Day! A very nice one here Marty. Riveting. I find it hard to describe the easy peaceful feeling your voice & that low hypnotizing music creates. Nice addition of your local Hobby Shop. You should have a selection of air brushes Marty. Just to compare & experience. Many range around $100.00 dollars. Good ones up in the 2, 300 dollar range. But, remember that the higher priced air brushes are geared toward "Graphic Air Brushing" on paper using inks. Over kill for scale hobbies. My 90 dollar Paashe H model is a very used & old dependable friend.

I've discovered that I can decant spray cans into bottles and then I can use that paint from my airbrush. Useful tip to get the primer out when the pressure has gone. I also have a thin bit of plastic with a hole in it to place over the axle ends so my grinding does not touch the hubs. Hope that helps, all the best Will... by the way, That was a stunning model !

Works great. Have used it myself. Have to let the propellant gas out otherwise can be a mess when pouring into a jar. Can crack the bottles too.

@@captainsergeant How ,? I have a load of rattle cans where the gas has gone but the product exists, are they still pressured or can I shove a thin straw/ WD40 end extension in one to drain the product?

To make sure there is no propellant, turn them upside down and depress the nozzle. When done, turn it right side up, use a small drill bit and drill a hole. After cut the top off with a cutting wheel. Let sit for 24 hours, mix the paint up and pour into a paint jar and you are done. Have some paper handy in case it bubbles over but you should be ok.

@@highpath4776 Two ways: You can do what Clare Ravenwood has suggested, which is the safest and probably the best way...or you can do it the super messy way: spray the paint in an airbrush glass paint container! Wear gloves, expect a mess, but you'll get the paint you need.

Marty, I just recently got an ultrasonic cleaner as well. I saw a video on keeping it clean. Get a sealable container that will fit inside your cleaner. Put cleaner solution and parts inside the container, put that inside your ultrasonic cleaner, then fill it to the full mark with just water. Cleaner solutions and dirt stay in the smaller container. Less clean up, less cleaner solution. And the ultrasonic cleaner tank stays clean.

Fruehauf was the trailer manufacture.The company filed for bankruptcy protection in 1997. This video is one of your best in my opinion. The editing must have taken hours. I love the macro shots you are using.

When cutting close around decals, I use small manicuring scizzors. It allows very close trimming.

Pro tip on rattle can painting.....heat the can to about 80F/27C. Do the same to your metal parts to be painted. The results are superior! You can heat the can in hot water to be safe. Your little table top stove is ideal for heating the metal parts without them melting or distorting.

I thought putting the truck and trailer one up on the shot glasses was great with trailer two below, but seeing the end bit with the drill makes me want to see a how-to on that! Thanks again Marty - that was a good one.

Marty, that battery powered paint mixer works especially well on the paint in the bottles as it settles more than the paint you have mixed for spraying but is great as you know. If you have a flaw in your floor polish on the windscreen, it can be removed using something like a glass cleaner with ammonia in it. Once dry, try again. Save your empty paint jars, they can be used for lots of things like mixed paints, small bits and pieces for a model etc. Great restoration, looks like new and great idea using a nail as a rivet. Love your solutions. Nice to see Kevin but it takes practice to shift a "crash box" transmission. All in all, regarding the video, I'm happy with that.

Only $11,000!!! Kevin let you off easy! At least he wasn't off firing missiles this time and almost starting World War Three!! If Kevin is having trouble seeing over the steering wheel, and reaching the pedals, have him sit on some old phone books or encyclopedias, and attach wooden blocks to the pedals with hose clamps or duct tape. Once he gets moving, if he learns to "match the Revs", he won't have to use the clutch.

You did a good job on Truck! Sorry that it broke down on the Road at least Kevin was behaving himself I can't blame the little guy trying to get the truck over to the truck auction. General Motors use to build some good semi Trucks like the Crackerbox, the Astro COE, and the General.

Great job. I agree with you 100% about Tamiya paints. I get a good result every time. Over here in the US; people seem to have a very unexplainable fascination with anything Vallejo. Personally, I wouldn't run Vallejo paint down a public sewer; let alone a decent airbrush. If you are in the market for a good airbrush; I can highly recommend a Badger Renegade Velocity. They are designed with modelers in mind. Don't know what kind of price you could get on one in Australia. They are about $100-$125 in the US. But, it would be well worth a look.
