A few power tools.. Pulls out table saw with 2 different blades, and dado stack, with cross cut sled, miter saw, one hand held router, one router table, 3 different router bits, festool sander, jointer, planer and drills.. So yeah, guess we don't need a CNC machine, just every other tool that most of us don't have in the shop..

Beautiful build with quality tools! I know that you are also a master with hand tools and basic drill, driver, and track saw, etc. Would love to see you build the exact bench (or something similar) with the tools of the everyday woodworker. I would love to buy the plans for something I could actually build. Thanks, Jay.

Fwiw, I got the plans last night, and made it through initial cut, surfacing and glue up with a circular saw, a random orbital sander, and some clamps (all from harbor freight) I intend to do the routing with a $25 trim router and some barstock for straight edge guides. The plans are really well laid out and make the above very possible. It's more work, but not too much more.

Jay, I just purchased the plans and love them. One thing I think you should add though. We have always used our lower shelf as tool holding and I thought adding some tool holding options for the lower stretcher might be something that could be added. The tool tray in the accessories is nice but a full length tool holding option down under might be nice as well. Great job on the design of this bench! This is the perfect compromise for those of us to need to be mobile.

Jay, did you consider making the legs on the front side vertical. You wouldn't have the access or clearance problems and would be able to clamp large workpieces like doors or large panel to the face of the bench. With the back legs splayed out I think it would be stable and resist lateral forces when hand planing.

Hi just been watching your vids on the work bench. Great idea especially for site work. Was looking at making a small table top bench but I will be making one of these now, thanks great idea. I see you have legs at 90 degrees why not make rebates on the bench splayed outwards 7-10degrees. They would still pull out, and flat pack. I had a car years ago and I never glued the legs in on my traditional saw horses they were splayed and pulled out to flat pack them to go in the boot. Bit more mucking about but might be more stable without the use of a sand bag? Still, very good idea. Nick Rust

My own Matchfit Workhorse build is under way. Working on routing all the dovetail slots right now. Made more then a couple of screw ups (but each were recoverable). However, it definitely is a challenge when I don't have a large table saw (just a jobsite one). It certainly made it difficult to cut the mortises in the top. I wound up just cutting the left and right of each one by hand (pull saw) then hogging out the rest with a circular saw. One dovetail groove went off kilter, so I had to fill it back in with epoxy (thankfully I had plenty left over from a previous project) and will have to re-cut that one again.

Absolutely BRILLIANT! Something so simple yet so functional - made from cheap lumberyard materials so it’s also inexpensive. Is this your design, Jay? It looks like some long lost (and rediscovered) old-timey design that woodworkers used 150 years ago. I love that it’s not only a very functional workbench but two of them make excellent sawhorses. And the knockdown aspect for storage and portability?! Truly outstanding in every way. Inspirational!

I really like this idea. I wish I had seen it a few months ago. I just built a roubo-ish bench, and found it was very difficult because I didn't already have a bench. This would have been perfect. I do have 1 concern about the construction lumber and the dovetails, I'd love to see a follow up after it gets used and abused for a while to see if the dovetails split out. Regardless, kudos for the innovative design
