Lot's of work you're putting into these video comparisons, really appreciate it Just wish you upgrade to 4k quality, it's better for these kind of videos Thanks
you have glass glued on the camera system on your mate 40 pro ... this affects the quality of the shooting. the quality of such protective glasses is terrible. another medium for light attachment. I use mate 40 pro myself
Am I surprised ? I am a photographer - so not the typical target group. And yes, sadly, I am disappointed with P50. Was just thinking today of buying it (it is finally accessible in CZ-Europe) but no go. Main lens - why so much over-sharpening???. Even M40 compared to P40 is visibly more in-camera sharpened (I have to de-sharpen it when I want the utmost quality) but this??? - Are they real with P50P? Totally disappointed with UWA and front camera. Front camera video you showed has so little facial details. Re UWA M40 has awsome lens/sensor combo which I use for reportage - it is 18mm equivalent, so not extremely wide and very useful for street shooting, it has big sensor and marvelous lens (corner to corner sharp). I am glad it is just 18 mm - the wider the lens is, the more limited use for it you have. It is exceptionally well corrected for distortion and it is 20MPix!!!!. Seems to me that P50 UWA is not any better than P40P UWA, and that was Huawei´s big letdown. When you look more carefully at P50 UWA video and bokeh in the background (trees) it is a mess. M50P colors look bit too cool for me especially greens, reminds me of S21 ultra, no character, just impotent green. And tele? 3,5 optical is very nice - and I would love to have it on M40. However M40P digi 3-3,5x is also very good and I have no complaints esp. with portraits, where more details and sharpness hurt. 10x zoom and more is clearly better with P50P. Good enough for real photographer? Still not good for me to be useful - especially with shutter lag . I would say it is rather for fun. It is just what it is. With M40P I get better results shooting TELE RAW and upsample to 2x. So all in all for normal shooters - it is excellent, but for photographer like me - HUA flagship is still M40P .
Great comparison, Congrats on your work. I agree Huawei have always had a problem with focusing on moving objects, Is the P50 showing a jitter problem in low light, at 2min.40 to 2min47, the fps dropped then recovered once back in decent light?
From look of things, I believe in the next 5 to 10 years, smartphone manufacturers will shift thier concentrations from cameras to something else because I believe they will have less or nothing to improve upon. Any upgrade on the p50pro is slightly noticed on this review. But I am sure the upgrade would have been drastic if not for the US restrictions. Good video @Techview podcast.
I think in terms of photography they will reach a limit. In the immediate future I see a run to zoom solutions still. So they will try to improve this a bit more. Then the next big thing will be videography still. At one point they will resume the front cam videography and photography improvements definitely. But it is a bit slowed down due to the under display front cam experiments right now. In the bit fruther future we will see better longer batterylife as the big next thing.
@@lltechview Great point. Then I guess will be more room for improvement in both photography and videography department. Thanks for your in depth analysis.
Thank you for making this comparison. Actually, I am torn between the two models because I am about to renew my plan next month. I have Huawei Mate 10 and Huawei Mate 30 Pro and now I am considering my postpaid plan to another Huawei device. I do not find any problem with the lack of google because what matters to me is the camera of a phone because I love keeping good quality photos of family events, places we visit, activities and affairs I attend, friends, and the like. I am a loyal Huawei user.
@@DiamondRank1 awesome, let me know how it is when you receive it. I was recommending the p40 Pro because one it's cheaper, it supports 5g, the back cameras are very similar, it has a better chipset and the front camera is better.
What a brillant comparison you made mate. Something that I'm quite curious is the night time photos. The behavior with the color sensor of the p50 must do a differece, right?
Awesome content, real comparison. Thank you for taking the time for doing this. Only one comment - your video quality seemed low in clarity at 1080p. I suspect compression issue from video software export settings or RU-vid compression algorithms doesn't suit your uploaded format. Very noticeable on my large 32" 144Hz monitor. I suspect Kinemaster is not doing justice to your video quality.
Great video bro. Amazing efforts. 1. Do you have green edges on curved screen on the Mate 40 Pro? What happens if you hide the edges? Does the green screen issue go away then? 2. I want to buy the Mate 40 Pro Plus but it's not a globally marketed! Where can I get it? Please help!
1. Nope not really. What you see might be a green light on white which is simply because of the curve being to drastically. Hiding the edges. Not sure how that works the setting for this does not change anything on my device. I never had issues with that as my content is not wrapped around the edge and I can read straight on the display. 2. The Mate 40 Pro Plus is really not available globally only in China. So you need to import it.
@Techview Podcast Thank you for your valuable response. Please check this video of the green screen issue: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZeoJY88L4FM.html It would be super amazing and nice of you to shoot a closeup high quality video of the Mate 40 Pro in a dark room for any app you choose with a white background first time without hiding the edges of that particular app/apps and second time with hiding the curved edges for that particular app/apps? (The waterfull display can be disabled by going to settings - display - more display settings - edges and then you choose the app you want to hide the edges for) I really appreciate that. I'm looking forward to seeing that.
Mate 40 Pro has better battery life and the device feels a tiny bit more premoum with its more heavy design and gorgeous camera bump. Otherwise the Mate 40 Pro has 5G support and Kirin 9000 even in the global variant. The P50 Pro has the better camera system with better and more accurate colors aswell as better zoom and faster focussing. The Mate 40 Pro has a higher quality ultrawide angle that is not as wide as the one on the P50 Pro but way better quality. All in all both are neck to neck.
@@junjieabucay8676 don't be afraid. EMUI 12 is a great update. Just takes a bit of getting used to as they've changed quite a lot. I didn't like it at first especially the new control panel but now I'm loving it. Not only has the camera improved but battery life has improved slightly too.
Huawei is the legend, legacy on batter and camera. Currently having 4 flagship which is S21 ultra, note 20 ultra, findx3 pro. Had all the huawei model previously and sold the latest huawei mate 40 pro and the marvelous p40 pro plus due to non google playstore. But now i am torn between this 3 models which is p40 pro plus, mate 30 pro and p50 pro. Which is good, pleased advised???
I replaced my p50 pro with a mate 40 pro. So far I am satisfied with it. The p50 pro was a disappointment for me after a google pixel 6 pro. I would be interested in the sensor size. I've watched several videos and everywhere they said that the mate 40 pro camera sensor is bigger than the p50 pro. But according to Google, they have the same sensor. So how is it now? The night pictures, which are taken handheld, leave something to be desired. In my opinion, google pixel phones are the best for photography right now. The mate 40 pro is not bad for vlogging either. ):
Can you comparing the AI gesture sensor and upgrade unlock a world of possibility through AI touch-free interactions. Just move your hand up and down, or left and right to browse through your photos or flip through the pages in an e-book. Make a grabbing motion to take a quick screen shot, or hover your hand close to the screen to answer calls, or control audio playback. Want to silence your phone while it's ringing? Just look at it, and the volume will lower automatically.
@@lltechview no, they are not the same, new p50 doesn't even have ryyb anymore. All phones are good at day light photos , low light is the challenge for all . Next time focus more on low light photos with and without night mode enabled.
@@lltechview I'm interested to go back to non curve display. You have the best P50 pro in depth review so I'm really hoping to see a head to head comparison.
I had the P40 pro and change to the Mate 40 pro and I found that the pics were much better in the P40 pro selfie, night. That s why I find very strange that the mate is so close to the P50 pro camparision.
@@lltechview 7:55 - Fine details are smeared to reduce noise, looks weird. 9:24 - Trees and wall have halos around them, and details look very unnatural. P50 looks a bit more oversharpened but Mate 40 looks awful too. 11:10 - Even edges of huge texts have significant smearing. Wall's pattern look weird in this one too. 12:55 - Details around water droplets are completely destroyed, and the remains are oversharpened. 14:43 - Oversharpening in this one is not very significant because of motion blur. Detail level is still very low. All other photos have same issues. I have no idea whey they use these awful noise reduction and sharpening algorithms, but this kind photos are unusable for me since I hate noise reduction and oversharpening.. Both phones have terrible image quality and this is noticable even in a small phone screen.
@@lltechview i think it has something to do with the editing program " kinemaster" And the other thing, the video is uploaded in 1080p quality not 4k If you watched other channels you will notice mate 40 pro had better quality
