I'm really digging how chummy, supportive and affable pre-madness Sephiroth is. It really goes to show how his descent into villainy costs him his humanity.
i have a theory that seph from the first game knows whats going to happen and the devs will set it up to pull a bamboozle and stuns us all. aerith wont die, seph will save her, and at the end of everything will help us set things right.
Technically if one remembers the `Truth` about Cloud, it could simply be intented as seeing Sephiroth in a positive light due to the `experimentations` messing with Cloud`s mental state or a certain someone suppressing the memories of seeing how Sephiroth acted in the past. This is just more of an example of a remake putting a bit more emotion into the characters so it could really just swing many ways, such as the developers wanted to make Sephiroth look nicer pre-Jenova Discovery or its a askewed way of remembering the character thru `tweaked memories`. Hell the fact that Cloud technically having a certain someone`s cells shoved into him, could mean yet another party`s influence likely altering his perception of Sephiroth in a different light to boot. Honestly this is just the major fun that happens once you are familiar with alot of the elements involved in the story that could give drastically different meaning to these kinds of scenes.@@zetascorpii49
Making “Cloud” sound more childish and eager, and having the “useless Soilder” with Tifa sound like Cloud too is an absolutely genius example of a remake of a game like this being able to make great additions to a story
It's close enough that I almost wonder if that isn't Caleb Pierce doing his best Cody Christian impression. If it isn't, then Cody Christian is certainly doing his best Caleb Pierce.
bro clouds voice actor is killin it to represent this character in this time... no spoilers... also, notice the voice on that random grunt soldier who took tifa away? great touches.
That useless nobody of Shinra soldier saw every scene of this duel, dreaming to be one day cool as the fighters. But instead to fight, he focused on protecting Tifa. What a pathetic nobody that will never be a hero. /S ;P
Spoiler? Having your idol turn and kill your entire family and hometown then being used for human experimentation by the company who hired you before having your bff die horribly in front of you miles from your goal may do that to you. Just hypothetically.
The choice of words, the inflection in his voice even his body language, I love how much detail they're putting into Cloud with this. Like they know we know so they basically said fuck Spoiler warnings have fun w this
SPOILER . . . . It's great to see Cloud with a more uppity and outgoing attitude, but those personality traits aren't his own, they're Zack's. Cloud's portraying himself as Zack, which is why we're seeing a more outgoing and talkative Cloud. He never actually fought with Sephiroth, but Zack most definitely did.
@@geminuri Cloud does not gain zacks personality nor does he try and copy it. Cloud remembers certain events because Zack talks to him and recalls them on the way back to midgar when cloud is essentially in a mako coma but that’s all it is. He never once acts like zack he’s simply recalling what zack told him mixed with his own actual memory of being there and combining them thinking they’re all his own. The fact SE have made cloud act like Zack here is a massive retcon for fan service which I absolutely hate because it not only doesn’t make any sense, it undermines the original massively.
@@nelevenchts I think he was trying to bring attention to the differences without overtly spoiling it. Chill, bro, stop tryna ruin it for people who dont know the story
@funkyfranx oh no, I am spoiling a game that came out in 1997? Zack is literally in Remake Part 1, they put the Crisis Core Remaster out, I am pretty sure everyone knows about Zack by now.
@@nelevenchtsI disagree because in the original game, during this memory, Cloud’s model is known as “Young Cloud” and he has a slightly different portrait in the menu too
Yeah, not making a Sephiroth game has certainly been a missed opportunity. But hopefully with them modernizing him now he’ll get something eventually, maybe even a DLC.
There is one. It's called FFVII Ever Crisis and it's ongoing on Mobile. They are talking about making a steam port. The new released chapter is about Sephiroth's youth and his first mission.
Such a good detail that Cloud’s outfit is like Zack’s. And that his voice has that more youthful excitement of Zack. That random Shinra trooper’s voice also sounds quite familiar ;)
2:08 I didn’t notice this until like my 10th time watching lol But you can really see how Sephiroth is letting “Cloud” take the helm, and using this as a teaching moment. Literally 2 quick slices from Sephiroth and he already cut both the legs he needed to. Then Sephiroth asks “Done?” to “Cloud” where we then see “Cloud” take a little bit longer with more strain than Sephiroth. I think this was a nice little detail to showcase the skill gap between the two!
I’m always a fan of Cloud with 2 shoulder pads. It’s such a small attention to detail but makes such a huge difference. So cool. Not to mention the shinra ‘grunt’ escorting Tifa. Love it so much. So excited!!
I don't think you're connecting enough of what is happening here to the old story. Think about crisis core again and reflect on what is happening happening here. For instance at the end when that soldier walks back in with Tifa to congratulate them.
@@4OR-Designs I know dude i just wasnt trying to full blown spoil it lol. I’m just saying whenever we see ‘Cloud’ with 2 shoulder pads it always looks so cool bc he never actually did wear the uniform when it was in good condition. And its cool bc it gives a subtle hint for newer fans about the truth.
@@OttotheOtter97 Cloud does have two shoulder pads when Zack gives him the soldier outfit. And hes wearing it all the way up to when he drops Cloud off at Midgar. Between that and meeting Tifa is when the switch to the single pad happens.
@@viralshark True! I read a lot years ago about the small differences in the outfit and the buster sword and I remember seeing that it was just “concept differences” or something like that. Bc back then I was genuinely so curious why Cloud’s shoulder pad had spikes on it and why the buster sword’s design changed so much too (from Crisis Core and other prequel designs). No real explanation, just art design lol. Still so cool tho. I really do like the full on first class soldier uniform on Cloud. It’s always looked good on him rather than his busted up uniform lol
Well, in most games you can control Sephiroth he has that move, examples include FF Dissidia Duodecim and Smash Bros Ultimate. Also, I understand the reference heh heh. 😈
If american people had a brain they would have noticed the shinra trooper who protects tifa in the fight has the same voice as cloud . Thats what I called a detail!
Sephiroth: It would be a shame if I stopped being a nice guy after learning I was an experiment, and was a pawn all my life. Just throwing that out there.
really cool how you actually get to control sephiroth instead needing some mod to do it like in the original. although I wished they kept the unique strength of sephiroth killing everything with 1 hit whenever it was hit turn.
To be fair from the gameplay I've seen so far, he does kind of tear through everything with relative ease. Even in this fight, Sephiroth hard carries on the damage.
@@KuugaT2 Why do we care what he has to offer if he's just slowly chipping away at the health like a normal character? He's supposed to be impressive. This is pure idiocy that they would weaken him to this extent.
i see it more as sephiroth holding back, you can cut someone in haf when you need to but if youre training someone then you might just wanna make some superficial cuts to give the trainie a chance to get hits in aswel. this actualy shows sephiroth is a pretty good teacher/trainer
Semi spoilers ahead: The body language and voice inflexion they gave Cloud really prepares you for the twist that will happen during the third part of the trilogy.
What are you saying? Cloud is always an optimist, self-confident, super strong, always smiling, hero ready to fight monsters head on. He would never be a pathetic and insecure weakling who would focus on protecting Tifa like that nobody of Shinra soldier at the beginning of the scene.
I think it sucks considering cloud never acts like zack and his recalling of this memory is his own, he doesn’t even know who zack even is at this point he simply combines his own memories with the stories zack tells him on their way back to midgar in the truck.
@@ItsSVO It's not only stories, like for Nibelheim, Cloud WAS present. Also, Cloud did act like Zack in the OG unless you forget him getting excited over his 'new materia' and saying word for word the stuff Zack said in the Mako reactor. Aerith even comments early in the OG that Cloud's mannerisms etc remind her of her ex. Yes, Cloud is standoffish when the game starts, but he still takes on a lot of Zack's traits subconsciously.
@@ItsSVO Cloud did get some of Zack's memories and fighting styles thanks to his Jenova cells. This is confirmed in the FFVII Ultimania with Jenova's mimicry ability. Even in the OG Flashback in FFVII, Cloud acts unlike the guy you've seen him as in the Nibelheim Flashback, and is even doing Squats because he's nervous.
Good news! While the Remake version of "Let the Battles Begin" is obviously in Rebirth, the open world sections are using a battle remix of the World Map/Main Theme from the original game. Also, don't forget that Remake had a few variations of the battle theme at some points, so I'd be surprised if we didn't get at least one remix of LtBB.
If you listen carefully at the beginning, when the Shinra Soldier takes Tifa away, he sounds very familiar ;) (Yes, before anyone comments, I know who)
That was painful to watch. I know it was partially because of youtube compression but some camera angles in the fight were pretty bad here. Still lookin forward to it
As many people have pointed out, Cloud's mannerisms and way of talking during this flashback are completely incompatible with his personality. Even the head scratch he does at times is totally a Zack thing. The VA also did a great job in capturing Zack's "puppy" personality.
Anyone notice the musical cue that played when Sephiroth saved Cloud from that last attack? It was just a little bit of "Those Chosen by the Planet", i.e. what plays when Sephiroth burns Nibleheim to the ground. Genius little bit of foreshadowing there.
I hope there's an endgame mode where we can play as sephiroth and fight waves on enemies, or something along the lines of that. It would be wasted opportunity if he is playabke in only a single segment.
I really hope we begin Rebirth just on the truck. No explination, no nothing. Just that rainy evening in the back of a transport. And the flashback will be the first like 3 hours of our game. Then when the "showdown" happens thats when it fades to white and reveals it was Cloud telling the story.
This game is looking more awesome by the day, they let you control Sephiroth And the interaction between Cloud and Sephiroth felt like they were friends, Cloud seeing Sephiroth as his Hero I got a feeling this game will be great as long as they don’t do some shit like arbitrary of fate whisper crap
@@Leonkennedy19992 Yeah that’s true What I mean is, I hope the story is not dramatically changed by adding whispers or crap like that, time travel or anything that strays from the main story
@csmith3248 yes same. Im new to ff7. Only played original as a kid but never finished midgard. So all of this is new to me so hopefully they keep it original
sorry to ask y'all, haven't been updated lately but why is it that Cloud and Sephiroth are working together? aren't they supposed to be enemies? thanks to whoever answers this.
But Sephiroth shouldn't even need Cloud's help. In the original game he would have defeated that thing in like a few slashes, each slash taking off a limb. ( this is what happens when they modded it so they could play as sephiroth fighting that monster ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UIEN9XOin-I.html ) But nope, gotta weaken sephiroth so much that it looks like the boss is barely flinching from his slashes. SO lame how they watered down sephiroth.
@@Vaquix000You're comparing an ARPG to a turn based game. Sephiroth in og did whatever he wanted and you could only select his limit. He primarily spammed quake. If he was too one shot anything that not only takes away from the player involvement esspically since this is the tutorial that's supposed to teach the player how to play. If mt Nibel was apart of the full game from Midgar-ceater sure. Nor is it really nerfing Sephiroth either. In OG he still fights Zack. In CC he still fights Zack. He still gets stabbed by Cloud. He isn't a god. Most of 7 he's hooked up to the planet as a torso. Unfortunately Remake took the mystery behind him away (Sephiroth) but because literally everyone knows who this guy is now it serves no purpose hiding him same way everyone knows Cloud is going to on par with him by the end because of AC, KH, SSB etc. They are humanizing hom because without it he'd be bland because he doesn't have the mystery behind his character that he did in 97. Ffs everyone onows his theme and majority don't even know it's the final boss tfeme of 7 and only plays once. Same way the main FF theme only plays in tge credits of 7. There os a difference between not trying and aiming to delete stuff. Hell he's still strong in ever crisis as a young adult. He's showing the same attitude he had against Angeal & Genisis during their sparing match. Also in OG Sephiroth is standoffish here & they made him confused in CC. Here they actual gave him a playful deminor unlike previous versions which also helps Zack & Sephiroth's relationship after Angeal. Which we only see a glimpse of on top of Junon in CC.
