i like the wood grips and customisable to remove material to remove torque from your natural hand position. its strange people didn’t understand the concept and shot them as they came. once shaped i cover it in pig skin to stop it slipping when wet. aluminium and plastic are not nice imo
Yep, to each their own! I prefer a grippy texture, I just started making some that have a carbon fiber reinforcement and they keep their grip even when wet. The problem with some wood grips is that they can swell and shrink as the get wet and dry. But I love the feel of a wood recurve riser. There are potentially thermal components too, as CF has great thermal insulation properties, but I need to test.
