This is the question tho. The Nebraska case was very complicated. I have a hard time believing that they went out there with intentions of everything they were charged with. As with the dozens of other people that got charged in that case. Another thing why would anyone want to bash someone. What did you have to gain from the bashing them. Was it because you were sued for the nose button thing the reason you spoke out against them. I just believe that you grow a brand by being original and do it by doing things your way. Completely different than the others.
@ApexPredatorOutdoors
@ApexPredatorOutdoors 10 дней назад
I never said anything about their intentions, but if you're going to hunt somewhere you need to know the law. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse to break it. The reason I made the video that they sued me over was because Josh claimed that they were found innocent of all the charges And they are not poachers. By using their court case I approved that the state did have evidence that they broke the law, and they got the charges dismissed by taking a plea deal, and pleading guilty to transporting illegally harvested game across state lines. That doesn't mean there wasn't evidence of them poaching, for instance if you read the court documents Sarah hunted turkey without a license. And there's evidence to show that. If they were innocent of the charges they could have gotten them dismissed on lack of standing. Instead they took a plea deal. I'm over the nose button thing. I took an existing product that's been around for decades made my own changes to it and made a product that is completely different, not subject to their patent. The problem is is I don't have enough money to fight in court with a patent lawyer. And I feel like that's what they were counting on. If you want an interesting read about how they deal with the legal system, look up the bomar nutrition lawsuits. I think it's a good character study.

@@tcolley Not at all. I showed the court documents that said that there was evidence that they hunted without licenses, then transported that killed game across state lines. How is that defensible? Also the court documents if you read them state that they had evidence of them being within the legal limit of distance from that spot. You can look them up and read them yourself. Notice how they didn't bring up all of the charges? Maybe it could make them look bad? Idk...

I have progressive lenses which are basically trifocals. My issue right now is I have to raise my head to see the pins correctly and clearly,because the sight is a little too close to see when looking straight. I was thinking of purchasing the fast Eddie XL just for the adjustment outward that way I could shoot properly. Do you have any recommendations? Shooting with prescription is tough as it is lol.
@ApexPredatorOutdoors
@ApexPredatorOutdoors 25 дней назад
Honestly if you can get LASIK that's the best option. Lol. With the fast Eddie XL You can't get it out that much further than this (I used to have the XL) maybe two or three inches max, not sure if that's enough for you, might be?!. The downside of extending the sight out is that you lose overall yardage, as your fletches will hit your sight quicker or rather at a shorter yardage.

So… I never put any stock in the clocking issue but this year I’m shorting little liter and a lot faster and when I went to broadhead tune all the sudden I noticed a severe able in my broadhead arrow at 10ish yards… I had my wife slow mo record over my shoulder and it was the arrow changing directions. I’m not sure what energy issue there could be but there was an obvious wobble. Doesn’t to it with mechanicals or field points, but with all the fixed blades I tried it was obvious.
@ApexPredatorOutdoors
@ApexPredatorOutdoors 29 дней назад
I would try spinning the arrows again on an arrow spinner to make sure there is no wobble on either side of the arrow, and then try nock tuning. I actually did the same test a few years back with the VAP TKO arrows and had like four out of six arrows coming off wobbling. I turned the nocks about 1/4 turn then shot again and again until all of the arrows were coming off straight. Just a thought! Check it out. Also as Paige Pearce the world champion women's archer showed, the same bow can shoot two different types of arrows and spin one left and one right.
@jedhuf7548
@jedhuf7548 29 дней назад
@@ApexPredatorOutdoors they spin perfect of spinner. Dropped poundage down thinking spine issue. In slow mow you could see the arrow stop spinning left, wobble, and then start spinning to the right when the fletchings took back over. So with a 20 yard shot, between 10-15 yards of that shot the fletchings were causing a massive disruption in flight. Swapped fletchings to left and flight is perfect. Just makes sense to me to simply match the spin of the bow. We worry about the perfect tune, dialing in arrow length and spine, point weight and all the little things, and then expect the arrow to just change rotational direction and not expect some sort of performance fluctuations? You would likely change your serving for better nock fit so why wouldn’t we take this one extra step.
@ApexPredatorOutdoors
@ApexPredatorOutdoors 29 дней назад
@@jedhuf7548 Hmm that's odd, never seen it wobble before due to fletchings though. On mine the arrow would just fly straight for a while and then when the fletchings kicked in it would start to rotate. The left helical fletches would start spinning quicker than the right but never saw wobbling. As I always say though if it works keep doing it! Sometimes we just need to give the bow what it likes, much like you did with the spine or head weight. When it flies great make it keep flying great!

If you do not like the engage grip, you do not want to shoot off the riser, this is hands down the best aftermarket grip for Matthews bows. I have owned every replacement grip from every company, seriously I paid for them, they all sucked. This one is definitely the best. The Bone Collector....Arrow bounced off a Booner...Search it here on YT....476grn of total arrow weight shot out of a Hoyt RX7-so a 300 FPS bow...deer was shot at 20 yards....with a wide cut Mechanical 2" cut i believe...a mechanical takes so much more force to open and deploy-hence why that arrow bounced off that WT deer on a perfect shot-some mechs are 3X as much force others are as much as 6X...you can watch the video yourself and see....The Hunt Public also has a video with the exact same scenario but they were shooting something like a 425 grn mech and i believe it was 1 1/2" mechanical cut....You must perfectly tune and balance you bow and ARROW....if you have done this a fixed blade will fly perfectly out to 100 yds-yep it really will....wind drift can be more with a fixed depending on you setup. Hit a scapula and a rib or a scap and those thicker spinal bones-and dont break the spine-especially the bottom Y portion of those spinal bones....this usually happens with tree stand hunters and the deer reacts and rolls....I tell ppl 475-525 but i want everyone to be north of 500 grains with a cut on contact (fixed blade)....so you can prepare for the worst case scenario..... Read Chuck Adams-the shocking science of sting jumping....deer typically hear that arrow coming or the bow or both and its more their reflexes than hearing but their hearing is very good...the whizzing noise from the arrow is what they hear typically and why they react...Chuck did the math and calculated that at 12 feet a deer can completely duck the arrow and in his video/article the deer was at 30 yards....she ducked and launched forward and completely cleared the arrow....a heavier arrow is more quiet...understanding your game and if they are on alert must be understood.

I will give you my take. I have been a traditional bowhunter for 4 decades. As most people know Longbows and Recurves have no where near the energy of a compound. Now when I started for the most part lightweight arrows were not much of an option. Seems like the old Beeman Carbon arrows were the only light option. I shot mostly aluminum arrows and some wood arrows. Usually a 2 blade broadhead in the 100 to 125gr weight. Shot through Elk, Shot through Wild Hogs. And whitetail deer. I went to carbon about 10 years ago still with the same broadheads. Shot through Elk, Hogs and deer. A good sharp cut on impact head with good arrow flight plus Shot placement is most important.

Currently shooting Rip Tko 300 spine, 50gr titanium insert, and a 200gr single bevel total arrow weight 515gr with a 23% foc Was shooimg this setup with a 125gr and out to 30yards dont even have to adhust my sight POI is literally the same they group within an 1' of each other time to target is .0001 difference 😂at 20yards. I look at it like this if your hunting within 30 yards out of a tree, upgrade your inserts to SS or titanium and shot whatever broadhead youve been successfull with, and dont worry about the posable 20-50gr extra weight for more integrity. Stop trying to go for light or heavy just look for perfect flight and structural integrity period, i dont care if your 400gr or 600 grain if thats what youve been successfull with keep it going but recommend gettimg rid of aluminum. But the whole 4" of penitration from 15yards is a f*cking joke btw and ive been seeing plenty of that. If your getting bs penitration change something naybe your bows not tuned properly, maybe to light, might be rhat cheap aluminum bending and losing momentum could be a number of things. These are rhe ones RF are trying to help, hes not telking eveyone to up the weight, hes giving a solution to those people having penitration issues and looking for help, kinda like AA for hunter struggling. I dont worry about weight, i focus on perfect arrow fligt, structural integrity, and broadhead sharpness, ive been everywhere from 415ish-515ish and never had any issues with how i do my arrow setups. Ive pryed arrows out of trees and still spin perfect, with aluminum bs you aint doing this, titanium inserts are light of your worriied about weight, $$$ but its worth it out of 12 arrows from 2 years im only down 1 as it hit a concreat block, letting down and accidentally hit the trigger 😂 opps. But other than that its resharpen and reuse or put a new feildpoint on it and its good as new, trees, roots, dirt, animals, everything but concrete

Arrow Weight was like number 5 or 6 on his list of a dozen or so things that make a lethal arrow, and if I have to say one thing negative about Troy Fowler is that he is a marketing genius for his "flapper" and "adult arrow" terminology. It's sells lots of arrows and test kits, but I do believe he is right about sharpness of a broadhead 100%. You rarely hear him talk about the diameter of the collar to the shaft ratio and about arrow durability which are two things higher on Ed Ashby's list of arrow lethality concerns.

None of it matters if you can’t hit your target. I care way more about where I’m putting that arrow rather than weight. I think most of the data points are used as scapegoats for poor shots. Let’s just take a medium range shot like 35 yards. 70lbs 370-500 grains if you put that arrow in the crease it’s going to blow through it. And the conversation on penetration should probably be focused around the thing that slows your arrow down more than anything else and that’s the broadhead when it hits the animal.

Why does everyone forget that arrow diameter matters a ton too? Elk shape and day six gear have talked about the advantages they provide but I’ve never heard anyone else. Ranch fairy likes to say archery targets are designed to stop arrows so they can’t be used to test penetration. But then I ask why do my 4mm arrows penetrate and extra 4-5” further than my old standard diameter arrows even tho my old arrows weight about 40grs more.

Exactly my point. You don't have to get crazy with it. If I am blowing through bone and going another 10 yards and the arrow sticking in the dirt 6" I can give up some weight to get a flatter shooting arrow and reach longer distances. Went from 580 to 470 and am still breaking bones and getting full penetration because I use good broadheads! I like micro diameter arrows too, been playing with the idea of going to a thicker arrow just to get a lighter build (thinner walls) but then I remember that this is working so good there is no reason to change right now! Want to try some heavier broadheads, so I might still give that a go next year!

This doesn't even need to be that big a deal with a compound !!! If your bow is shooting 230-300fps then you should be able to blow through alot of game with zero issues using a 400+ grain arrow... This heavy vs light arrow makes way more sense when your shooting a recurve or longbow and your lucky to hit 160fps. Thats where its been proven time and time again that a heavy arrow reins Supreme, hands down !!! This argument in the compound world is comical because your bows are so technologically advanced that a lighter arrow works just fine with all that speed !!! This isn't rocket science.... Holy cow !!!

I know it's definitely overblown. I always say that if it works for you do it. If it keeps dropping animals keep it up! But if you're making good shots and not getting penetration it may not be the weight of the arrow but rather the broadhead that is on the tip!

Finding Backcountry Podcast - Jeremy Duggar did the data collection on effectiveness of a hunting arrow... give it a listen. As an industry guy who has hunted primarily elk and mule deer in the west, with a variety of other animals, there's a reason bow companies rate their bows the way they do. It is about efficiency of energy delivery, and accuracy. Don't buy into the hype, find the arrow that flies the best out of your bow and use it. Accuracy kills faster than having a safety net of an overweight arrow.

Absolutely. Weight matters 0% if you can't shoot straight! Great skill and great broadheads are better than focusing solely on weight.

Hahaha 🤣 That's funny! I do like some of his takes such as his ideas on broadhead sharpness. It does make a difference.

I shoot a 675 grain arrow at 70 pounds, I don’t see where I have given up any accuracy whatsoever. There is no huge rainbow in my arrow flight like you guys claim. Don’t knock the heavy arrow until you try it. As far as my experience with heavy arrows I have not given up anything. Since switching to a heavy arrow I have not lost an animal.

As I said in the video, if it's working keep it up! I did light first, then heavy, and now I'm at mid weight and I like it better. 470 grains is a sweet spot for my bow. Noticably flatter shooting noticably faster to the target, haven't lost an animal, still breaking bone. If you have a good broadhead just about anything Wil do, if your broadhead sucks it can be as heavy as a brick and still not penetrate! Lol The main point of the video is to point out those that criticize people for not using a heavy enough arrow, or using too heavy of an arrow. TOF is real and animals move, but now at 470 gr I feel like I can safely and lethal shoot out to further distance and make up for any errors in judging distance by me. Gap shooting or dialing a single pin out to yardage is way easier with a mid weight arrow, and still as lethal... ...with the right broadhead!
