Everybody is getting all excited about shot sense but it's the same as the Mantis X8 archery app which has been around. Nock on had the mantis x8 for 75$ over black friday.
@@Getdownorlaydownbum Have you used any mantis products?, because they are very precise. Mantis is the global leader in firearm dry fire training and I'd bet money shot sense was developed by mantis. Except mantis x8 can be ran on any bow with a bolted on sight for 150$ and shot sense is mathew's only and cost over 300$.
Due to Bidenomics there are too many VTM's , V3X's and Carbon One's hanging on walls at bow shops looking to get sold at a discount. My guess is next years Lift will be the ShiZnit. Things are just too tough this year for a new bow, no biggie just focus on other aspects of the game that I have been neglecting drooling over new bows. I hope you test the APA flagship this year, thanks for all that you do dude. You have a spot in the jeep hunting hogs on Ft. Stewart anytime.
Having owned a V3X33 and 29, the Lifts are superior in draw and hold in every facet to me. Smoother, better transitions into the valleys, way easier to let down. I hate long valleys that snap your shoulder out of socket if you have to let down. I shot them at 29"/70lb. The 29.5 drew 69.4 and the 33 drew 70.8, and both hit the proper draw lengths for the mods. The 29.5 got 291fps and the 33 292fps with a 440 grain arrow. The 33 has the best draw of all '24 releases in my opinion.
My shop is supposed to have some lefties at the end of December, looking like my next bow. I can't really afford it, and for sure can't afford to put their accessories on it, but I need a new one lol.
The shop I use in Texas said they ordered 50 of them and should be here Dec 20th, lefties included. Guess we will see, I heard lefties were going to be later.
What's wrong with Hoyt?? You shoot one now why would you change and what's wrong with the new Hoyt bows. I think that they are just as good if not even better than the new Mathews!!! Think before you buy one!!@
I’ve had a 3D elk for over a decade sitting outside. If you slap on some good house primer like Kilz and then some house paint in elk colors, you not only can preserve the target for almost infinity, it will look so true to life you’ll feel like you’re aiming at a real elk. They make good foam kits if you are getting the core shot out, too. Just something to think about. That bare foam means the investment is going to rapidly loose value if you don’t do something. Just a thought. Nice review!
All manufacturers lie about speed its called marketing. A five year old bow will kill just as good as the lates and greatest . Influencers will tell you YOU NEED IT BAD ,TO EMPTY YOUR WALLET.
6 fps variance, its how your shooting through that particular chronograph, 100% were going to comment on the chronograph; the weather outside has nothing to do with it. It's the type of chronograph you are using and depending on where you send that arrow inside that window is why your getting drastically different speeds. For instance with the 500g arrow, you dont go 269,269, 275. Your numbers are all over the place bud. If you don't believe me shoot it through the top of the window and then shoot it at the bottom of the window, 3x in a row each.
Hey man I think your chronograph is having issues I have the same one and I'm getting close to the same speed with the lift 33 at 29 inches that and you said the prime was 10fps slower than last year and there the same bow
The ethos won for me lol. It's funny how different people's preferences can be. But mathews will never be in the running for me anymore. All the money in mods and stabilizers is nuts. They just don't seem to care about the customer at all. They could learn alot from prime and elite
The Lord allowed me to grab up a lift 33 a few weeks ago. I genuinely have shot my best groups consistently. I hope the prime ronan does well this year. Great price for a lot of bow. Good luck this coming season sir. If won't be too much longer and we will start seeing more reviews like this for the 2025 bows. I'm very happy with my dual purpose 33. I didn't get to do too many 3d tourneys this year, but I am looking forward to hitting more next season.
I’m telling you if this thing is improved on the phase 4 it is the bow to beat All the top brand bows are great I’m not like a pickup truck guy They’re all good But I was blown away with the phase 4 Couldn’t wait for the new and they stay in production if I want to upgrade
Wow, pretty slow, I would have thought it would be faster with that draw cycle and IBO rating. My pse Omen with EC2 cam is faster at 68 pounds 28.5" draw and a 493gr arrow, and it draws nicer
I really like this bow, but I wouldn't buy one only because I don't like the yoke system. If they went back to static yokes, I would seriously look into getting one. Who really wants to mess with tophats when you can yoke tune???
@@WolfinWolvesClothing713 I'm a bow mechanic/tuner. I work on bows every day. As a member of an archery club with 500 members (and their families), that's a lot of bows that has crossed my hands. For most guys, yes, once, but most guys don't know what they're getting in to when they buy a bow by name brand only. While using tophats to shift the cams is easier than moving shims around, it still doesn't give you the best tune, consistently, and you'll still have to set the rest in or out a little. Static yokes can and will achieve that, and much more easily, too Second to that, I'll move shims around to get perfect centershot/centerflight. It make take longer through trial and error, but at the end of the day, I'll sleep better knowing the bow was done right!
I ordered mine a little over a week ago because i am a lefty the green fade to black cant wait for me to get my hands on it the only bad thing is it will be about a 4 week wait
Those cams look like what's on my Bowtech Prodigy from 2015. My Prodigy is smooth, fast, and quiet as well, and I bought it for $450 plus $200 for 70# limbs and new cams (bow was dry-fired, unbeknownst to my friend who sold it to me, and was previously "worked" on by someone we both know).
Mathew’s is known for efficiency, so it’s odd that there was so much variance in the speed testing. That being said, not a Mathew’s guys, but spec wise, this is the best bow they have put out in years. One finally worth the hype of their marketing to me. If I were in the market, I would be testing out the 33” with 80lb mods. That weight with that speed would be a great combo. Being someone who prefers versatility and tune ability, this still has my attention.
Thanks for your time and effort making these videos. I had surgery on my arm last year and had been looking for a new bow. Always been a Bowtech guy but after watching some of your videos on Elite I tested a Terrain and it fits my repaired arm great. Thanks again
Great review! I would love to see a comparison video or just your thoughts on this bow compared to the xlite 31. I’ve watched bow your reviews on them and if you had to pick one for whitetail deer hunting which one and why not factoring in cost. Thanks for the honest reviews! Keep them coming.
I’m gonna be that guy and ask a question you hate. SS34 or Lift? I bought a SS34 5 months ago and couldn’t be more impressed with it. Also have a reckoning that I might trade in for a Lift.
It just didnt stand a chance against the ethos for me, to be honest nothing did. Im lucky as hell and my best friend owns pats archery in okmulgee ok and i get to shoot all the new bows every year. The ethos was hands down the best for me
Lying so egregiously about the speed is as lame as it gets. That being said, I have not wanted to upgrade from the Halon 32 until now. $1400 is not a ridiculous amount for what’s involved in making this bow. I’m happy Mathews are making the best bow possible, not an “ok” bow people can afford. If you’re on a budget, go find a better deal. IMO the fact this bow is as light as a carbon bow and has such a dead shot is impressive. Look forward to shooting one.
You're right to be skeptical about the rubber between the limbs. Idk why people are giving you shit about that, it's really no secret that rubber isn't the most durable material and it's only been a design that's been around for 2 years. Give these bows 4-5 years in the field going from warm trucks to 20° treestands, getting wet, getting muddy, humidity, and UV from sunlight. Could really see a problem down the line.
I only paid $1200 for my lift 29.5 and havnt upgraded since the chill. Would like to see the review with 80% mods since they aren’t available yet only 85% is. Enjoyed your review keep it up sir 👍
Do yourself a favor and start paying attention to foot placement. You shoot a closed stance. If you bring your back foot forward youll be alot more stable.
Man Matthew's is starting to walk on thin ice with the cut outs, I work with aluminum and while the 61 alloy they use is strong there is a point where to much is cut out and will make that riser weak.
Here they come 😂 I hate these questions Jk, if someone gave me both and I could keep one I would keep the rvx, but I have also put in feild, got a old buck and 3 does with it, easy to draw in the tree, sets up quick for this moments that happen fast, I would like to feild test the lift
Sir, how would you compare the new lift against the "Safari Monster"? In my opinion the Safari is still the untouchable King of all compoundbows on Planet. Would you agree? Kindest regards SA.
Polar opposite safari is a absolute beast the lift is a peice of art lol Safari is heavy and fast, lift is light with ok speeds, I think this questions depends on the man
@@BackyardBows Thank you very much for answering that fast :) I really enjoy all of your videos, Sir. Very high quality there. May I give you a new "Idea"? Wouldn´t it be a cool addition to your Bowvideos, If you would do a slowmotion video of the Bows (filmed from the side view), the moment you shoot an arrow? Then cutt the recorded clips and lay one over the other, you know what I mean? "Ghost Videos". So people can actually see how the bows riser, limbs, cams and strings are flexing and vibrating. The more the differences are, the more a bow tends to be "shocky". And it would also look awesome :) Kindest regards from Germany.
@@SUPERSONIC_ARCHERY love that idea and have had that in mind since the beginning, being able to afford the camera that can capture that has been my issue but yes one day will be very cool to see
@@BackyardBows Dear Sir, Perhaps I could lend you a helping hand. You don't need a "slow-motion camera." Depending on your video editing software, you can slow down the recorded video through the software settings. For instance, every time I do bow reviews on my channel, I employ this same trick. Additionally, you can configure the recorded video to be slightly "transparent," allowing you to overlay two different bows. With this trick, you can demonstrate how much one bow "swings" or "vibrates" compared to the other bow. As I mentioned, I often use the "slow-motion effect" in my videos to better illustrate my shooting technique or arrow flight. P.S. It's a pity you live so far away; I would love to engage in a 3D archery course challenge with you someday :) Best regards, Supersonic Archery
when 500 grains is faster then 484 on the chrono somethings up 500 grains 279 then 484 grains goes 277 I love your reviews and dont care about the speed per say but there is something going on to get a 10 fps change in the same arrow then a lighter arrow goes slower then the more heavy arrow on one of those shots anywho thx for the awesome review man thats just my 2 pennies which dont mean much lol God Bless... I will be getting the Lift 29.5 asap...
man im just happy you do these I find my chrono gives different readings depending where the arrow goes through like top or bottom I also use a light kit inside like you do I also hunt 550 grains if you ever get a chance see what it will do at 80 pounds if and when the mods are out. also I in no way was complaining man thx for the hard work that goes into these videos ...@@BackyardBows
I shot it against the rx8 ultra, same weight and draw length. I hung the lift back up after 3 shots. That being said, I went in expecting to buy the lift. It was just too much vibration, felt like a freaking tuning fork. Also both bows had no stabilizer. The rx8 ultra was by far a better bow, and that’s coming from a Mathews fan boy.
My lift i bought had the same problem with the vibration. I finally figure out that my string stop was adjusted out a hair too far causing it to jump and vibrate more. Not saying that is everyones fix but it was for mine!
If you had to take the blind folded pepsi challenge on this yrs flagships across all big manufacturers how many of you believe youd be standing with a mathews in your hand when the blind fold came off. The only thing youd be privy to is the chrono results at your dl.
@BackyardBows my comment is missing a few sentences about mathews marketing and the machine that it is. My point is that a lot guys buy mathews because that's what you do, buy mathews. I'm betting that if a consumer neutral to bowhunting/archery was forced to be blindfolded and pick a bow based on feel, the tech, and actual performance, I don't think as many mathews would be sold.
ok yes sorry I was confused for a sec but that makes sense and I completely agree with you. I think everyone would be surprised at what they chose@@jordanpowell228
The IBO rated speed was done with 80% mods in the cam. Supposedly that will give you an extra 4-5 fps. I’d be interested to see how the new strings last.
@@hunteradamson5024 you are incorrect. They followed the ATA specs for speed testing 70# at 30” draw length with a 350 grain arrow. What ATA doesn’t specify is the let off percentage to do it at. Mathews chose the 80% mods because they are on average 4-5fps faster. If they had tested at 80# they would be advertising significantly over 350fps.
@@WolfinWolvesClothing713 ata testing for speed can also be advertised as ibo. If 348 was achieved at 80 pounds what benefit would Mathews gain from it? Because at 70 it would ether slowest bow released this year by a major manufacturer. In multiple reviews it’s achieving 8-10 fps more than the Phase 4 with equal set ups. I’ve yet to see any statement from Mathews directly stating that they tested at 80 pounds. Rating their speed as ibo gives more leeway in the specs as you can be 2 pounds overweight whereas ata requires 0.2 pounds + or -.
@@ckslim8671 I’ve been told that from people at Mathews. It’s tested speeds have been bested by bows that advertise 8fps slower on several reviews. I chronoed it myself and it’s quick but it’s not 348 quick.
Cool vlog and nice bow. But like I ask everyone else is how much does Mathews pay to say all of this stuff you said in this vlog. What's wrong with the RX-8 you reviewed earlier and other bows. I think that Mathews pays you all to say that they are the best but there are bows out there that are just as good and even better than Mathews all day!!
Must be new to the channel, I don’t get a paid anything and to be honest mathews won’t even answer my questions or take a phone call about the products I review, also haven’t reviewed the rx8 yet, and I am very aware there is great bows besides Mathew’s why don’t u watch a video or two
I watched the review on the Elite Ethos before I watched this one, and he was raving about the Ethos in that video. His ravings are not just for one company.
MFJJ literally called all of the bow manufacturers and ranted about how they all test their bows at 70#, 30" draw, with a 350 grain arrow. They're just using underhanded tactics to get the speed they're advertising.
@@jackbuendgen389 Advertised speeds really are irrelevant tbh, I choose an arrow weight based on hitting 270-285fps. My target arrows come in at 435 grain & my hunting arrows weight 485 grains using the same shafts. I have shot 420 grain arrows but they have some sketchy flights even with quality tuned bows!.
70lb 27.5” draw and it was on the 33” ata. I don’t think you can get extra 8fps speed without a cost on draw cycle. I currently shoot a phase 4 29 and it has a much more comfortable draw cycle imo.
I have a phase 4 29 also. And it is incredibly smooth and quiet. So you dont think the lift is worth upgrading to? Again i love how smooth and easy the phase 4 is to draw.
I have a V3X33 now, and I'm not sure I want to change. The Lift is a great bow, but the draw isn't the most pleasant, and it dumps noticeably into the valley. But you have to give it up to Mathews, they made a lot of changes, and it's amazing how light this bow is. The speeds seemed very inflated and I think they are more inline with previous models. You do a nice job on the reviews
I have the V3X 33 & Ventum Pro 33, i see no reason to upgrade honestly I have 12-14k shots out of my V3X with a stock string so far. Just ordered new Gas strings for both bows!
@@georgehardin8452 IBO is max poundage for the bow (in this case 80lb, with no limit on draw length, at 5gr per pound draw weight, so 400gr arrows) ATA is 70/30/350.
The International Bowhunters Organization has created a standard for bows which is produced through a test. The IBO speed is obtained by shooting a bow with the maximum pull weight of 80 pounds +/- 2 pounds. The arrow used will be 400 grains or 5 grains per pound of draw weight. No required draw length
If you test the bow at 70 lb at 30 inch with 350grain arrow. You would see the speed quoted. As that the test set up in the industry. Not realistic to test with much heavier arrows and think it will still get advertised speed
Im not disagreeing with u it might, It got well below calculated speeds from the ibo 348, which once a heavier hunting arrow is in the mix it doesn’t hold up to other bows with the same ibo
No bow on the market will actually match the ibo they’re advertising. There are things that manufacturers will do to get the speed that are completely impractical to the average bow Hunter.
There is no way i would pay 3 grand for a bow! I tag out every year on deer and turkeys with a bow i paid 450 bucks for. Im gonna buy another bow this year, thank you for checking mathews products off my list!
It’s just money. Some people can afford luxury, some can’t. Knocking a bow like this with a mid-range MSRP in the midst of carbon risers is pretty silly.
It's just funny to me all the guys I hunt around that bow shame me for shooting what I shoot usually end up calling me to ask for my buddy's number that has trailing dogs. A high dollar ass bow won't kill a damn thing for ya if you dont practice and be able to make a clean ethical kill. I am digging watching the videos, I'm gonna buy another bow this year. I think im still gonna go back with another bowtech but I may try one of the bear bows. Seems like those are a higher quality for the money.
@@jakearcher1118 I'm telling ya dude, if you like what you have save the $3,000 and go on a private land mule deer hunt, or guided black bear hunt. If you're planning on getting a new bowtech be prepared to buy a set of aftermarket strings right away. I had a SS34 this year that had THE WORST factory strings I've ever seen. The serving unraveled in 6 places within 200 arrows.
After my v3x 33 gave me fits and shooting a Prime Revx 4 I will never shoot another Mathews again and I have owned almost all of them the hold the grip the draw cycle is unmatched best shooting bow by far !!!
