Tall, fast, young, can shoot the 3 and play good perimeter defense. This guy is a future star . Nico would really have to work his magic but the Mavs have few assets for a guy like this.

I agree but I rather the Mavs go after Paul George n jerami Grant before deni. Paul George shot 40% from 3 showed he can play make and is a lockdown defender still. Someone who can be on the court while Luka and Ky are on the bench

I think his value is higher than it will ever be so now’s the time. Finals runs increase value for role players and we def need to take advantage of

@ Marcel, we don’t need anymore players that can’t shoot in his shooting is not that strong. Yes, his defense is good, but we also need players that can score to come alongside of Luke and Kyrie and also ball handle. create their own shot and he’s not a strong enough shooter.

Mavs do seriously need a 3rd scorer. They can hope and pray that Hardy becomes that. and he could. But we have to wait and see and I'd only bet a dollar on it, for the hell of it. But I am crossing my fingers. Also that Omax can crack the rotation for 12 minutes a game next year. If DJJ leaves with no replacement. He's gonna have to step up or they will regress next season when they need to improve.

Thybulle would be fine and Mavs can hopefully get Spencer back for a scoring in the bench or someone who can play in clutch when he is hot. Best case scenario if Mavs can get another 3rd option near all star that can decently defend.

@@VonAndradeOh he would be. But I'd still rather have DJJ. And DJJ needs to be a back up. As you are right. they need a legit finals starting SF. One that can shoot and defend. They need one that can pass and rebound and drive too. So if Wiz get that French SF freak with the 2nd pick. I'd be trying hard to get Deni in here as he's good at everything and gonna get better at a few of them.(most likely that is)

@@countfloydschillerhorrorth2090 Deni would be the most ideal acquisition, but i also think they can opt to Bruce Brown decent defender and has championship run experience which the team needs. With the pace Derek Lively is on, he might be their 3rd best player. Just surround them with solid complimentary players.

I prioritized going after Deni, Jevon Carter (Bulls backup pg), but if not, more realistically, I'd go for Cam Johnson and Dennis Schroeder from Brooklyn Sharpshooting 3nD with Cam Johnson that'll start as the 3 and Dennis as backup pg who can run the 2nd unit easily because he can facilitate, and he definitely can score on his own + plus with Hardy it's even more scoring off the bench. Trading with Brooklyn makes Dallas super versatile and deep with depth! Starting unit: Luka, Ky, Cam, PJ, Gafford (really Lively) Bench unit: Schroeder, Hardy, DJJ, Omax, Lively Guards are interchangeable, and so are the wings. With this, Kidd can even play small ball with PJ as the 5, Cam the 4, and DJJ as the 3.

We need a 2 way player who can create aside from ky and luka. Let's accept the fact that when we ask luka to lock in on defense his offensive gets affected so in order to take some load off him we need a 3rd attacker and a physical defender. Thybulle was a good option before we got gaff and pj.

Mavs need an assistant coach who is specialized in OFFENSE, smart with x and o fast pace offense. Kidd is a defensive coach but doesn’t understand offense because he was too smart as a guard to need to run plays himself. Mike Dantoni. A offense with Luka and Kai alone should be able to score 110 in any game. They clearly only run two actions. So it’s easy to predict. Draymond said that about Kidd in his Milwaukee days and they still say it today.

Why is this huge news exactly??? The guy who shoots a career 34% from 3 and averages 4.8 points a game lol. I understand he plays great defense, but what use is that if you can't do absolutely anything on offense..................Andre Roberson anyone lol, that dude is now out of the league because he was a guy who did nothing but play defense................like Thybulle. Dude is not moving the needle whatsoever, and besides where does he fit on the team??? Is he replacing DJJ or PJ??? So we get a guy who plays only defense and might play 20 minutes a game and thats huge news???

It's an interesting choice, but I think I'd focus on someone else who can score without freezing at the moment and missing easy layups and jumping late just to be blocked 10 times in a row. Getting rid of THJ would be fantastic, and maybe in the Mavs, he could develop like PJ did.

A Siakim type of player or Claxton could have been the missing piece as Mavs really need a good 4. The Mavs now must prioritize to get Mikal Bridges, Bogdan Bogdanović who can shoot and can defend and give them consistent 15-20 ppg. Trade THJ Maxi Powell Morris and maybe between Exum and Green but not both of them. Let Hardy and Omax develop more.

If we trade for Thybulle, that most likely means DJJ wont get a new contract. Cause they are both way to similar. Good PoA defender, great athletes, shaky 3P shooter, cant really handle the ball. One in a significant role (20+ MPG) is ok, two are not sustainable, if you wanna go deep into the PO again. I dont see one thing that Thybulle can bring to the team that DJJ cant. So he wouldnt even be an upgrade. So *IF* we let DJJ walk, we need someone like ATL Bogdanovic, or Avdija, or Cam Johnson. Someone who can give you 10+ PPG constantly. If none of those guys is available, just dump THJ, resign DJJ and give Hardy more minutes. Lets see if he can be this reliable 3rd scorer.

Derozan is a WAY better option. He’s older, but he’s going to give you much-needed mid range scoring and as a veteran he’s not going to piss his pants in the NBA finals. If you add him, it means on paper you have 85 points just from three starters, not including Washington and Gafford/Lively. While you’re cherry picking Bulls players, they can trade for Caruso as well who’s going to give you 10 to 15 and become the best on ball defender on the team. He has the added benefit of shooting 41% from three last year in the season where he’s taking the most shots in his career.

I applaud the effort but I'm not sure Thybulle moves any needles. Yes, he's a lot better than Hardaway on defense but that was just part of the problem. So maybe it's better to try and use Hardaway's value for something that answers most of the problem? Especially if you're hoping OMax becomes an asset on defense that Kidd can start to use. I would be VERY interested to see what Nico can do with his assets after the draft. Like what would it take to get Markkanen? I don't see how he fits into the Jazz future, he's got 1 year left at 18m. Lauri would move the needle for me!! I would go as high as THJ (16m), Maxi (11m) and as many draft picks as possible. That would be a huge deal. Obviously on the court it would help the Mavs a ton but they also get 1st shot at signing him. And the Jazz get plenty of cap relief & picks for the future in case their young guys don't work out. And it is a risk on if the Mavs can keep him. I guess his expected UFA value is 27m a year. So I assume Dallas would be in some luxury tax penalty. And I think the owners would only be inclined to do that for a Repeat & 3Peat type of run. But with Maxi's money I would keep DJJ happy and bring him back. So now the frontcourt depth chart is looking like...Gafford/Livley/Lauri, Lauri/PJ/OMax, PJ/DJJ/Green/OMax. And this clearly makes Dallas one of the biggest teams in the league but also gives Dallas a 40% 3 point shooter who can give you 20 a night...and believe me, he will be getting a LOT more open looks in Dallas than he'd been getting in Utah.

like you said. stats dont tell all. it doesnt help he is on a team that isnt very good. it can be hard to get quality looks on that type of team. he can put the ball down on the floor if he has to. if he can do that and be consistent shooting it will be a great help

They complain about good numbers on a bad teams all the time (Kuzma/Grant etc etc) The real question is always how he fits in with a winning team and if his attitude works along with his play. I think his attitude is fine, his defense is fine, his Offense....Not so good.

I don’t know if we really need to focus on defense solely or make that our main focus. I think the players we have can grow into a even better defensive unit. I feel like getting someone who can help push the pace, not get tripped up over their own dribble and knocked down and open three but that isn’t an obvious defensive liability. Timmy and two seconds for Matisse would be nice. After the draft, Dallas will have their 2025 and 2031 firsts to trade as well, so if they really wanted to get Thybulle AND Grant, they could. I think two firsts and Josh Green (and Maxi) would be enough for Grant, but I could be wrong

He's long, active, plays defense like a maniac.... and his style will be accommodated by Jason.. he won't have to keep anybody in front of him and do what does well.... and currently, Timmy's $16.3M will pay Matisse 4X over!! and his vertical is easily 40"!! Plus he's more of a TPMLE guy. Port only over paid because they matched the mavs. Too bad they didn't read the deep stats on DJJ and sign him to a multi year TPMLE contract. Now they gonna have to hope he accepts a little less than 3 times that. And they have to hope Detroit takes THJ and a couple seconds (with nothing in return) just to maybe do that. Nico wasn't cooking when THJ was hot and tradeable I tell ya that. They could have got a 1st for him, at worst case scenerio they would have to send a 2nd back. and got a expiring deal that they they could have had DJJ with, plus the extra 1st would allow them 3 1sts to get a seriously legit good SF. But apparently nico like all the sheep decided you couldn't trade the teams 3rd leading scorer. Well no maybe not, unless that player is tim freaking hardaway and his bad streak of shooting is coming and since his hot streak was his hottest ever, than that meant his bad streak was gonna be the coldest ever(and probably coldest in the league the last ten freaking years). Anyone with any knowledge knew the past always repeats itself with Timmy and saw that coming. Many of ya and the Mavs HQ didn't. Should worry you as they are the same that told Brunson on 12.5 mil a year...."Na, I think we shall wait and see" and that wasn't all either. Course that's if you actually credit Nico as the GM. Which is something the Owner never did. But hope springs eternal, just like blindness to criticism to what on likes. As long as new ownership gives him his chance and then review it from there.

Green is a shorter armed, less expierenced Thybulle but has better offensive skills and probably a better motor. I'm not gonna trade him for Thybulle. It was a mistake for Port to give him the MLE anyway. He's a good back up but probalby only a 15 minute guy on a contender. Just isn't there on the o'side. Though maybe he could be like DJJ and be a decent 3 make with Luka. But I'm not giving up more than a couple 2nds and they don't have the salary to do it anyway unless they use THJ(which if I had nothing else then maybe) but they need to trade THJ and a couple seconds up to Detroit and get Nothing back. so they can open up the MLE and hopefully be able to sign DJJ with it.

No. No! No! He averaged 5.4/2.1/1.4 this season. He has never averaged as much as 10 pts in a season. Dallas lost because of no offense this season. We need a scorer who can score 20 points a night. WE DO NOT NEED another poor scorer! We have Tim, Josh, and Maxi for that.

i think matisse is perfect for our style of defense and coukd be a dpoy candidate under j kidd + he Is aleeady a better shooter than djj or pj ... if we trade thj and the picks needed for him we could even free up money so sign djj back with the full non tax payer mid level.... THAT WOULD BE AWESOME

i was thinking what if we trade for malcom brogdon too? It felt like nobody could bring up the ball apart from Luka and ky so having a 15 ppg 6 man of the year that can space the floor and play better defense than what Thj did could really help us... + he has a 1 year deal meaning we can resign him for less next year or let him walk if he Is ass
