Just spent five days in the John Muir Wilderness and had a great time. We are slowing learning how to do this as not only a backpacking trip but as a saunter and time for contemplation.
Thanks Ajhan Jotipalo and Blake for sharing your amazing opportunity brimming with nature's incredible connection with heart and soul. It's incredible internal and external challenges. Another nice walk in the park. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing. 🙏
Wish I could be out there with you all. I finally landed a permanent position within the NPS which should lead to a steadier, more predictable life that is more amenable to long distance travel. May you both be well and happy. -Ranger Chris
What a beautiful area! I went to Muir Woods back in the 80's, it was a short visit as we were only in CA one day before flying to Hawaii. It was gorgeous!
I’ve driven by Muir Woods so many times but the monastery was always on a business trip or going to the airport…. so never stopped. Life is too short, so hopefully I’ll stop next time.
The part of the video where you're driving on the road a few feet from a steep mountainside cliff was a fear of heights mortality moment for sure! Be careful, friends!

Just returned from another paradise trip. Only a few more backpacking trips then back to Canada. It has been great, and this trip has shown me the value of stability and being in one place. 😉

Yeah, I found food to be an issue that I haven't worked out on multi days. I don't eat meat, so I had a couple of the veggie trail mixes, and they were salt bombs. The first one hit the spot, the second one not so much. I was craving baked potatoes or rice with veggies. Its fun getting everything dialed in. I need a lot more hikes to make that happen. It looks like so much fun, and quiet. ;)
Yes it feels like it will take several years to dial the food into what will work. We met some older hikers who looked well dialed-in, they said they eat like squirrels 🐿️ (nuts, seeds and two or less protein bars).
