Matrix Resurrections - Unbased, Un-Redpilled, and Disappointing

I actually like most of the movie, the things that really bother me, are the Neo and Trinity scenes, if she was replaced by me, then everything would be great

I think it being bad might be the point Warner bros essentially told the director “if you don’t direct this movie we’ll make someone else do it, So she essentially decided to pull an old yeller and go “ it’s my dog! What’s weird, is that I actually really liked the movie when I first watched it. But the second watch was a slog to get through. There’s a lot of stuff in this movie, but it’s so surface level, that there’s really isn’t much else to see and discover in the movie

I'll still probably watch this when it comes out on Blu-Ray, but I can see the sort of troubles it's plagued with. As someone who unironically loves the Matrix sequels, it is kind of a shame to see that they played it a little too safe. Here's an idea. Maybe you could do a rewrite of Matrix Resurrections?

In that world, is it not illegal to make merchandise using someone's else's likeness without their permission? Even in a false reality, there are rules. Shouldn't the computer be playing 4D chess by now with all the information on humans harvested from the internet?

Yay finally another episode to the dumbsville lore

I actually very much liked the idea of neo+trinity being the "one". in the original film no one believed Neo really was the one until Trinity embraced him while he was dying which (somehow) gave neo the ability to overcome like an entire mag of a desert eagle and just zucc agent smith cuz he wasn't based enough. I think that's a neat concept that they really expanded with this movie and even though there is now no intention of making any more films due to the backlash I'll always appreciate this movie for that. Also the expanded lore of the version of Zion with humanity working alongside machines again to make eachothers lives better is actually really rad and showed a little ray of hope that the outside world could one day, mirror the inside world of the matrix.

One of my biggest issues was there were literally no stakes in the movie. NONE whatsoever. It didn't make a single difference whether Neo or Trinity were "awake" or not.

Movie producers need to realize that some movies dont need sequels

I could never figure out if they were trying too hard or going with the most basic lazy ideas. Like, the idea of letting you know about the matrix but keeping you trapped by convincing you it's fiction was literally a little joke and idea i had as a kid when I first saw the movie. So, was it a natural progression of ideas, or taking a childish gag idea too seriously? I don't know. I just don't know with this movie. Also that first 20 minutes just got waaaay too meta for me. You can only lean on the 4th wall so long before it gets permanently warped. Also, in the later half of the movie I swear they were just able to unplug whenever they wanted instead of needing to find a place to pog out, which made the big ending battle just feel unnecessary. I just don't know with this movie. The old sequels had good ideas with mixed results in execution, but I can't even decide if all the ideas in this one were any good on paper

I kind of felt like your videos could be stripped of your narration and they wouldnt change. But. You proved that youre more capable of actually reviewing and criticising media like an actual reviewer. I don't know if anyone will agree with me, but my main issue with this movie above all else was that it was boring. Even though it's bad, I probably could have enjoyed it more if it was a lot more exciting, but this didn't illicit any of those emotions out of me.

While I enjoyed this movie, I will admit it really was disappointing as a Matrix film. Oh well, at least we can still watch the other, more superior movies right?

I haven't seen many people mention this but Trinity's husband's Chad is played by Chad Stahelski. He was a stunt double for Keanu Reeves in Matrix 1 and 2 and was a stunt coordinator for 3. He also co-directed John Wick 1 and solo directed John Wicks 2, 3 and 4. I thought it was a fun little Easter egg cameo.

Noboby dies in this movie. One of the things that raises the stakes was characters dying from threats from inside and outside the matrix. Also the fact that agents were replaced with zombies ruins it even more.

My main problem with the movie is that it felt like the robots were too human, like having a war over resources that a pure logic being would never do. Also the fact that the human had such advanced technology it didn’t feel like they were underdogs and just slightly weaker.

Honestly, you managed to sum up why this movie is so aggravating and disappointing: the film itself is hypocritical. It really doesn't help that my family and I rewatched the original trilogy before seeing this one, so the comparison really wasn't favorable. As much as I want to hope they do better next time, I honestly just wish they don't try another sequel again.

On top of being funnier than other reviewers these days, I'm glad you can say this movie is bad and also praise potentially good ideas. Too many reviewers these days lack nuance. If they like it, they just say the themes are good and you're dumb if you don't get it. If they dislike it, they just dismiss all themes as pretentious.

I was showing my friend some of your videos and since he loved the Matrix since childhood we decided to watch this review. After finishing it he didn’t speak much and just stared blankly at the screen. Hearing about this movie for the first time literally broke my friend.

to be fair about the agent smith and morpheus thing, hugo weaving couldn't return as Smith because of scheduling conflicts, and Laurence fishburne I guess just didn't want to come back, I'm not sure about the circumstances of his departure.

I still cannot believe the positive feedback this movie received. Even from youtubers I watched. Renegade Cut loved it and I just don't understand why. Then again, he likes a lot of stuff that I just find utterly baffling.

This is exactly what I was saying, fundamentally the concept brought up in the movie are pretty good and honestly something which can make a good movie, the problem is it's just way too hypocritical to that message to the point where it just feels preachy or trying to hard rather than being the clutch to an interesting story, also the actions scenes poopoo but yea, honestly appreciate this video and I will say you've been improving a lot with each video you make so keep up the good work Dumbs
