Hi Ken! I filmed with it at the Crestline fly-in but haven't edited the video yet. Did you see the Mingus fly-in? It's at Mingus Labor Day Flyin 2014 - a hang gliding and paragliding film by Greg Porter. Good to hear from you, Greg
I saw your vids and subscribed. Look forward to your future productions. Fyi I flew the Matrix 5km out today and still had full video and copter control. Got it back to me at the 18 minute mark and continued flying until 31 minutes when the battery hit 21.6 volts. It's about the 3rd flight on a 12,400mah battery from readymaderc. Excellent battery and the copter carries it just fine. Dragonlink transmitter upgrade and just put Blue Beam antennas on the 660mw video system. Now I feel like I can put this copter wherever is needed to get a shot. 5km is a long way. Only the battery life is preventing further flights. Good luck to you, Greg
Greg Porter Sounds like a sweet system, I might talk to you someday about extending my abilities... waiting to see just how onerous the FAA is going to be on us before committing a lot more resources to my equipment. Sad it has to be this way.
Jeremy Janese For now, for recreational use, the guidelines are (not official regulations BTW) : not over 400 ft alt., not within 5 miles of airport without contacting them in advance, not over crowds, within line of sight, daylight only. Commercial regulations are to be posted any time now but could be extremely restrictive... everyone's been waiting patiently for them for years now.
Can you provide a link to the FAA document describing all the restrictions mentioned? I hadn't heard about the daylight hours only one, and I believe the forthcoming FAA regs are aimed at the commercial sector rather than the hobbyists, with perhaps the exception of banning FPV using goggles. Is there a link available to the hobbyist regs mentioned? Thx, Greg
