He has never been afraid of any genre. Pop, country, blues or folk, he'll tackle anything he likes. From Dee Lite's Groove Is In The Heart, to John Legend's Ordinary People. He has been doing Gaga, Dolly, Duffy, White Stripes, KT Tunstel, Katy Melua, D. Mathews, Dylan, James Blunt, Moody Blues, Rhianna, Kings of Leon and Alicia Keys for years and now Adele and Alanis Morrisette. His musical taste is incredibly eclectic. He treats songs with great dignity and makes every one he does, his own.
Richard Hawkes Not weird at all. Do you know his version of "Jolene" (e.g. F8JcktPjChw )? Seen some people who said it's the first time they _heard_ what the lyrics actually say with Matt's take on the song.
lady gaga is actually a really talented singer, look up some of her live acoustic videos. It's just that her mainstream pop music gives her a bad rep amongst, well, people like you.
When someone cover other artist songs, it could probably means he/she thinks they sing it better than the original artist. P/S.. Matt sings it better than GaGa. thumbs up if you agree :)
afaik the only time Matt ever agreed on changing words of a song was when he did "baby one more time" on x factor. Funny, bc "in this age" they switched to bending over backwards to be all-inclusive and all that. Matt otoh sang covers like e.g. "Jolene" long before xfactor the way they were written, and still makes you believe every word. Check out "matt cardle jolene 2013" [ 63SUFIqHxas ]
