I agree with Nick on this. If hes not a fan of cooking, hes looking for other ways to create decent meals without the work. ..like 90% of people who dont like to cook or dont have the time. Its like laughing at someone for not rewiring their old lamps when that's simple too, but many people wont do that either. Im just glad hes trying to eat better than fast food - chipotles or cereal.
Nick wanted an air fryer because he really wants an Easy-Bake oven. Air fryers are awesome - for grilled (not burned) veggies, all proteins... no pre-heating, fast and low power use.
Nick would struggle with Hello Fresh imo, it's lots of chopping and stuff - but hey he can follow a recipe. NICK.........order some Hello Fresh and let us watch you make a real meal!! XX
Air fryer being basically an oven is what I like about it. Personally live in an area where it’s too hot the whole year, air conditioner makes the electric bill go high and when using the oven, the whole home gets even warmer for hours, so that is just a bad time. Air fryer has helped saved a lot of money in that regard and we are not dealing with 2-3 hours of extra warmth after cooking anything with it.
exactly! also, it replaces 3 gadgets in my house (toaster, microwave, grill) and our oven does not have a convection setting and will not crisp up anything.
"I like strawBERRIES, but they should MIND their own business..." I SPAT out my lunch, Matteo. xD Love this little podcast-- 15 min is a great amount of digestible podcast and treat from these two.
Nick order your groceries and have them delivered... Also, they make small crock pots, guys. No need to make an 8 person sized meal. And the air fryer can make your frozen meatballs and most other frozen meats and veggies. They even have instructions for them now on the food package.
I’m with Nick on this one. I bought one of those electric pots with settings for soup, stew, baking, frying etc and literally it’s been one of my best kitchen investments ever. I don’t have patience with any dish that takes more than 30 minutes to cook and kept burning stuff because I would get distracted or leave the kitchen and forget I had something on the stove 🫣. This pot and frozen diced vegetables saved my diet and my sanity 😅🎉
Exactly, you go man ! Do the fuck you like and want. If you don't know how to cook, it is okay, who cares really. Take the machines you need and live your dreamy meal every day ! Love !
Sit-down Pizza Huts still exist. They're not common, but they exist, especially in small cities. Also, I love when these two interact, just because they're both pretty hardcore out-of-touch, but in different ways. And because of that, they make *hilarious* content.
In the UK I'm pretty sure you can only get sit down ones, but I don't live in a big city to be fair so may not be the case in all of them, all the ones I know of though
Nick and Matteo, together hanging out, cracks me up. But it would be an awesome series thought on teaching Nick one simple meal or dish at a time. The conversation and possible humor that could arise makes me smile. You both are awesome sauce!
As someone with a life long restrictive ed i have to say that nick is 100% right about needing to take baby steps, one of the first things i was told by a nutritionist was exactly that. Its incredibly hard to change life long eating habits, ed or not, and trying to force big dietary changes will just demotivate you.
Same boat with the restrictive ed. I had a nutritionist say I need to deal with my mental hangups on food first before changing my diet and I've stopped here 😅
Joe Says: OH! They are using "ed" to mean "eating disorder!" I was reading these comments and saying to myself, "What does erectile dysfunction have to do with your Dietary habits?!?"
😂😂😂. As someone who didn't start learning to cook until after graduating college, I can confirm that having a gadget you enjoy does make things easier even if it's the same amount of work. And, as the world's slowest cook, I can also confirm that the Instant pot, for example, took my cooking frozen chicken from a several hour affair with multiple pots/pans and constant attention to dumping in water, chicken, and spices, reliable results in under half an hour, and no difficult cleanup. You can also do amazing things with a stick blender. And tight schedules make overnight crockpot cooking an absolute lifesaver. Do what works best for you.
You guys are great! Matteo, I know you’re bucking to be the next Barefoot Contessa but you can definitely cook a roast in a crockpot 😊. Have a great holiday you guys! 🎅🎄
@@sams517 it's just an adjective. Some NDs are more mellow, mild salsa and some are higher intensity and spicy and anyone of us can experience the whole spectrum and oscillate from mild to extra spicy, none of the which is superior. Really doesn't exist except in my head perhaps.
i love the expression on matteo's face when nick tells him about the pre chopped garlic in a jar, it makes him angry, but he contains it with this "not the time to unpac this right now" expression, and i feel that, i have felt that with people in my life that are very dear to me. I do not care that i am reading into this more than is reasonable, i felt seen.
I loved that moment, too - and read it almost the same way. Matteo let it go because he was wrong. Nick is never going to chop fresh garlic, and the stuff from the jar is 1,000 times better than garlic powder. It’s actually the perfect shortcut for Nick. Before you answer, I want you to repeat, either out loud or to yourself, “Nick is never going to chop fresh garlic.” Say it five times, and remember to put the emphasis on NEVER. He’s the one trying to cook more; not Matteo, and not you. Advice has to be useful for the person you’re advising, or else you’re just being judgmental, not helpful.
@thoughtfulskeptic7529 yep and sometimes getting the best result is just hurtful and stressful for someone and their best is not THE best, and we should just take a beat and be quiet and let them have their better swap
I want Nick to be healthy for the next 40 years at least! So, since he has been making an effort (great idea buying that air frier, Nick!), I am going to share a super easy to make recipe for a soup full of veggies and delicious at the same time. Trust me, it is good! Soup: 1 potato 1 onion 1 carrot 1 zucchini 1 small can of navy beans (precooked) 1 Vegetable broth dice some water (a bit less than a cup) a pinch of salt Garnish (treat yourself brother, go fancy): 1 slice of white bread olive oil and spices Cut the veggies into big chunks, add the water, the broth dice, the navy beans (wash them before), and a pinch of salt. Let it cook for 40 minutes. You don’t need to stir it. Just forget about it for 30-40 minutes. Then, mix with an immersion blender. In a pan, put a spoon of olive oil and the spices you like, cut your slice of bread into dices and toast them in the oil. And … that's it! Super healthy and absolutely delicious! Happy holidays guys! Love you! (From Italy)
I just bought an Instant Pot as a Christmas gift to myself, it's a combination pressure cooker and slow cooker. I made beef tips and they turned out AMAZING. I want to try making birria next.
I took a year or more to decide to buy one back in 2019/20, I finally got one and I use it so much. Everything I have cooked has been amazing. Have fun with experimenting different foods
I love my air fryer and use it all the time! Although the baking time is about the same as in a regular oven, the air fryer doesn't have to be preheated because of its smaller volume, and that's where the time savings come from.
I'm a cooking enthusiast and a bit of a traditionalist like Matteo with most thing but I have to say I love my Ninja Foodi, I use it almost every day. A full roast chicken in 30-40 minutes? Why would you wanna wait for 1hr 20 for a dry chicken? Pressure cook for 15, air crisp for another 20 basting with garlic butter every 5, rest, done. Perfect juicy, flavourful chicken everytime, plus you can then make the gravy with the meat juices and butter in the same pot afterwards.
With a crockpot, you can make food for the week & meal prep. Keep some stuff in the freezer, some in the fridge. It’s really convenient if your have a busy schedule. And you can even reheat some of the food in the Air Fryer! 😂
as an ADHD girly, Matteo is a nightmare lol. cooking is NOT easy, not for me. I also live on frozen dinners, canned soup, & boxed mac & cheese, so I’m with Nick on this.
As an ADHD mind, I take my recipe around to pick up all items of recipe put them on counter. Have everything before cookingl - ncluding tools. Stay calm and look at recipe a lot since ADHD memory is shit.
Air fryer saved my life i can set a timer on it and walk away. The one i have doesn’t take up much space .I do love creative cooking though and generally will follow recipe outlines but not exact. (i also have adhd) I started tracking my meals and counting my calories to make sure I get enough food in a day cause otherwise i forget to eat. i tried not using the app to track for just a couple days and immediately realized I need to keep using it forever probably lol
My issue with instant pots is that building the pressure in the machine before cooking and then letting out all of the steam after takes so long that it ends up taking just as much time as a regular recipe but more dangerous and less convenient
I also do not care much about food 😂 I eat the same meal from chick fil a every day. When I visit other places where they have different types of food I will find an Italian restaurant and get pasta 😂 no matter where I am. I also don’t live to eat so nick I feel u!! I honestly think it might be an autistic adhd thing and idk if that applies to u nick but there are people like us out there and I find comfort in that 😊
Air fryers ARE just countertop ovens after all 😂 great ep! Slow cookers are the king of easy good cooking, you just have to plan ahead a tiny bit. (Channeling my inner Adam Ragusea today!)
I love these so much, but it is so awkward every episode to ask people off camera for a time update. It restricts the show and the conversations feel less authentic. There should not be such a strict time limit - just stop whenever you run out of things to talk about on each topic.
My wife wanted a pasta maker. I said they are called rolling pins. You would never use a pasta maker and they aren't wide enough to make a decent amount of pasta. My wife complained to her friends, her family, my friends " he won't buy me a pasta maker" I bought the pasta maker, the pasta air drier - look it up, it's a mini wooden clothes drier for pasta -and have the boxes ever been opened? No. My wife is the best cook and we love shop bought tortellini now
#I ONLY EAT TO LIVE TOO; PLUS OTHER ISSUES*; BUT I HATE IT TOO*. ONLY WORKED @ KFC & IT WAS SOOOO GROSS; I GOT SICK! HADTO QUIT; THEY TRIED TO KEEP ME CUZ I WAS THE BEST; BUT I COULDN'T! #I DEFINITELY ONLY LIKE WENDY'S!!!😲😨😍😍😍😍😍 STRANGE! If Nick has a problem with wanting to cook and make it less work. But not get it premade (alltough it sounds like he just wants premade), maybe hello fresh would be something that he might like. Love to see you try something out like that, and considering EVERYONE is sponsored by them, you probably can too 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I use my airfryer every day. Can't live without it. Not that it matters, but I'm a straight Dutch/Moluccan army vet. To get some of the prejudices out of the way. This pod is hilarious. Just like Mateo's stand up
OMFG! Dear Baby Haseuss, preserve our dear Mateo from the HORROR of the non chef at his side! Remember me in this time as I fear death by laughing my guts outs in response to the OUTRAGE!!! ROFLMAO
I’m fucking crying, I’m binge watching all of your podcast & can’t stop laughing. You two are amazing, I pay just to be a fly on a wall & here to bicker & talk about shit.🤣❤️
I don't want to kill Nick's cooking vibe, but I think he's feeling level 10 when he needs to try level 1, or 2 at most. He doesn't need gadgets, but I'll agree that a crock pot is an awesome lazy tool. It just won't be the automatic cooker he thinks it is. He has to stir it and check on it periodically. But if that's something he can handle I'd encourage crock pot recipes~ 😊
I live in a camper and my airfryer (12 in 1) is one of the best purchases I've ever made. I can bake, air fry, sous vide, make yogurt, and hella more. Game changer if you don't have a good oven or you have issues getting yourself to cook/eat!
I have been begging for an air fryer for xmas this year, GO FOR IT NICK!!! My old roomie had one & it was easily the best gadget in our place, like you can make so much in it & in a pretty quick time.
Hahaha you 2 kill me 😂 ,having a crockpot is like having someone that lives with you and knows how to cook. You can make a roast that is scrumptious... You can make tons of stuff in a crockpot.
Nick. A Crock-Pot is not for putting in already made stuff and just heating it up. The whole purpose of a crock pot is to actually cook stuff that has not been cooked yet. You have to put raw food in it.
Anyone that owns a convetion oven (which is most of us) already owns an "air fryer". It's a marketing word that was invented so people would buy a second oven that they don't need.
How can you only eat to live? This is so alien to me. Eating is like the only middleground activity everyone can agree on. 😂 Literally I took up photography to have something to kill time in between eating when travelling to other countries.
Air fryers don’t need preheating like an oven and I find cooks things slightly faster. Something that takes a half hour in the oven takes maybe 20 in the air fryer.
it felt a bit attacky on nick for no reason, i get that its " I never liked you" but i feel like the structure and concept can be worked into something better than "one person antagonizes another for no reason for 15 minutes". nick could have said mind your business and it would have been done. The chemistry is here but it needs to be showcased better
You can tell Matteo is a serious cook because he immediately calls out the counter space they take up and his questions are a wee bit skeptical from the jumjp
I worked the big fast food places. They're all actually cooking except for Taco Bell. Taco Bell It comes pre-made in a bag. You put it into a vat of hot water and warm it up. But like Burger King McDonald's it's raw meat patty put on a grill or raw me patty put on a conveyor belt to go into the flame Broilers. Just like Wendy's but Wendy's are not frozen. There's only very specific things that go into the microwave like when you're warming up the apple pie at McDonald's or a impossible burger at Burger King, which is already a nuclear waste.
We were similarly disappointed in the (smallish) air fryer we received as a gift. it's clumsy to use and saves almost zero time. I'm told a larger one would be easier to use, but even the small one takes up all the extra counter space. The only plus so far is easy cleanup
Hey!!! Come on, now! Arby's jamocha shakes are the bomb, and they have mozzarella sticks, so there are a couple items on the menu that redeem Arby's (and those of us who like those items) just a little. Good luck with that air fryer, Nick!
Ok, thirty seconds in, and I'm fully engaged and laughing. Cereal? That cracks me up. Our air fryer made everything we cooked in it taste like burnt fucking plastic! We don't use that fiendish, death device anymore!
