absolutely love this. the fact that he seems to think just arresting all the pirates will stop piracy is so silly and so realistic a depiction of those more interested in battles than the causes of them. hes great
Arresting a small number isn't goign to be helpful. Arresting a significant number's going to drive them away, 'cause they're businessmen. They' have narrow margins, large expences and need to make profit. They may tollarate high risk, but THAT high? That said, the video didn't say he got rid of the pirates, just drove the numbers down.
The Excellent and Red Scream look amazing. Also I find it very ironic that the Cuirassier, a ship designed to hunt pirates is now one of the most common vessels used by pirates
From the design of the Excellent and Lapwing/Red Scream/Lapwing, it looks like the CDF had a good period where it embraced (semi) modular construction (and even back when their weapon mounts were in self contained modules they couldn't bother to slot some swivels onto their line ships), which is rather interesting given the near complete lack of modularity in their modern designs.
Maybe consider that the modular appearance is a result of trying to save on mass as much as possible, by taking off exterior panelling and the like that isn't structurally useful, considering that these are fairly early-generation drift drives (and therefore less capable) and the designers may have been adhering (to some extent) to the 'every gram matters' spacecraft design philosophy to improve acceleration and delta V.
Man, this guy is _awesome!_ I can see how he became so much of a legend, and I can see the design lineage of Brigantines that he inspired. I love a good madcap officer who brings forth a revolutionary new style of warfare. Looking forward to the rest of his story in Part 2!
The man sounds incredibly annoying and weird, but also exceptionally competent, and a asset that went overlooked far too long. Also I suppose the exception to the rule that nepotism breeds incompetence and stagnancy. As always, really cool and interesting worldbuilding! :)
Okay, that's amazing. Chased them down for nearly two days and then boarded them. Honestly, i would surrender too. That man is insane! The mad horseman of Roulaix, indeed!
If only the CDF had listened to this guy, then the CDF would’ve been actually good at its job, and we would have no pirates, no dirty Frontier Union, and no famine.
This guy is awesome no wonder why he became such a legend many of the people thought he was crazy or didn't think they would work but he would go on to design a new ship class to fit his role and requirements and his calvery warfare like tactics from historical events is just amazing. This guy is pretty good and cool for what he's done.
Sounds like a great alternate Max Pichardo. Dude, in his universe, personally saved humanity from the Hydra's invasion of the Solar System. Only before his final mission to "send the bomb back" did he finally attain fame. A fan of setting up destabilizing governments, he eventually became one of the premier heroes of humanity, such that he was granted a one of a kind ship to travel with the best humanity had to offer to Makemake in the Oort belt. Utilizing a ship engine only rarely seen since due to its excessive cost, he and his specialized corps utilized a ship with an anti-matter pion torch drive, burning over a years worth of the entire Mercury energy circuit's antimatter production capabilities to get him, his devices', and the best space marines humanity had to offer, well beyond pluto in less than half a year. Whilst the fleets of humanity circled Makemake and desperately kept the alien ships reinforcing from other Oort Cloud mining and fabricating facilities from interfering, he, his forces, and the combined main infantry and battle fleets of the Jovian, Martian, and Terran battlefleets and their own marines, assaulted the alien stronghold on Makemake to wrest control of the main alien base in one final hurrah. Advances in reproduction of advanced engines and advanced weapons saw many new tactics used, with many ships lost, yet even more using the unique alloys of the aliens against them. As a protective fleet was formed, the one of a kind, never to be seen again for over a hundred years (aside from a few terra-luna test hops by very well funded space orientated academies) Pion Torch drive was deployed to get the best of humanity to where it needed to go in its first interstellar war. They delivered their package. The aliens were dealt with. And the low matter transfer wormhole they used was closed, never to open again, unless humanity wanted to themselves.
leinixism huh? interesting I would like to understand more of that as a socialist gen z my self it's pretty interesting to hear different fictional ideo'logies as a big fan fo the sojourn myself and a patreoner I would love to understand more of it. and this man is just amazing I love this guy
I'm pretty sure that Lennixism (or however else that's written) has probably no similarities to Leninism aside from the similar sounding name. Sadly ideology always tends to be the most undercooked part of worldbuilding for most stories, which I think is a shame cause I'm also interested in that.
