Matthew Hayden was well known for being formidable on the pitch over his 20-year career playing cricket. As the opening batsman for Australia, Matt showed serious talent that saw him travel the world and play in multiple Ashes series. Nowadays, Matt can be found spending most of his time in the garden at his beautiful Queensland property, where Matt and his family are learning to be more self-sufficient as they grow their own food and keep a menagerie of animals.
In this video, we go behind the cricket bat to find out more about Matt 'Haydos' Hayden and discover how his life has transformed from cricket pitch to veggie patch. It turns out Matt had an inner farmer all along, so watch now to find out who and what helped him to release it.
We are proud to inspire people from all walks of life across Australia to care for the environment, to cultivate an outdoor sanctuary, to grow food, and to learn and inspire each other, our children, neighbours and friends. Through our Cultivating Connections series, we hope to bring some of these wonderful stories to life.
