Matthew is honestly one of the best mixing instructors on youtube especially if you have years of experience already, but wanna grow more into hearing details. His tutorials in slate’s bundle are also very on point. He has a really cool way to help you hear really subtle things and understand highly technical things as musical values. Great job slate. According to the manual you are correct, the tone control is a filter on the sidechain signal

Very intelligent presentation. I'd probably use this compressor on electric rock guitars as well. Opto being so naturally transparent. Also, it's just me, but that snare felt like it needed a tiny touch more body, and that guitar track felt really lonely to me, but you, obviously, didn't deal with that in this video. Of course, I'm not hearing it on your monitors in your room. So, there's that, FWIW. Great job, Matthew! Thanks for sharing.

Great work here. I'm curious about the snare pan position. I feel like it's about 20% for the right and it has some short delay to the hard left. But it could be EQ effect type of "stereo" trick, too.

Do you guys have in depth tutorials on other Slate Plugins?

Why is the snare panned to the right?

8:51 you say "as fast as it can go" but the speed of compression is supposed to be slower at 10 no ? or is it inverted ? very confusing

Great work! Question: on your vocal plugin chain, any reason why you had the trimmer in phase reverse? Something you were hearing against the rest of the instruments?
