What is really amazing is that all three of these songs were written and performed by the SAME group. You won’t see that kind of diversity in bands today.

See? Queen can still surprise you, can't they? And in more ways than one!💙 One minute they're oozing sex, the next minute all tender emotion, then making you want to tap dance to turn-of-the-century (the previous one!) ragtime. They did it all! And did it well! #justbestraightforward

"Get Down Make Love" was the song the got me into Queen in 1977 when my 11-year-old best friend played it over and over. Come Christmas, I bought my very first album, my own copy of "News Of The World"!

#Justbestraightforward. No games for me or from me. Get down, make love, then go home. I love Seaside Rendezvous. Every time that comes on when I am playing the CD in my car, I feel happy and tap my foot while singing and those vocals that sound like instruments are amazing. I love the times when Brian sings, so Sail Away Sweet Sister was a little treat of its own. Freddie is my guy but Brian has great vocal chops too, and Roger can rock it as well. What a great band!

Step 1. *Blush*, swoon, then **Blush** harder. Both Freddie's AND Roger's voice are almost more than a woman can stand. Almost. Step 2. Smile & feel a little misty at Brian's sweetness on SASS. Step 3. Laugh at the sheer fun of Queen doing ragtime, admire Freddie & Rog being virtuoso musicians even WITHOUT instruments. Just imagine how much fun they had doing that! Those two were known for having fun together! Step 4. Give L. a virtual hug for getting back to his Queen fan base. We LOVE watching you react to our guys.💙

Thank you for listening to 'Seaside Rendezvous', it was a song that I've requested for several weeks. I would recommend listening to 'Prophet Song', which shares the same album Seaside Rendezvous' and 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. It was written by Brian May, its Queen's longest song at 8 minutes, and its about Noah's Ark. Also, you should listen to 'Millionnaire Waltz' on the Day at the Races album, and Freddie's 'Love Me Like There's No Tomorrow' solo song.

As a sub i am so glad you did "Get Down..." i'm 53 and remember first time the NOTW (1977)album came out. Being12 and hearing "we will rock you" on the car car radio going to hockey practice. It changed my life. I got into all the Queen albums available from 73- 80 in the next 3 short years and never looked back. "Get Down..." was always one of the most instrumentally diverse/dynamic/soundscape type things ever (for a short song). also what intrigues me is the spacey echo type sound effects throughout. Queen did not use any type of synthesizer on any album till "The Game". Pretty impressive use of studio tricks and tape splicing etc. Cheers from the canadian Queen nut.

Saw them do 'Get Down Make Love' twice, in 1978 (on Halloween!) and 1980. Honestly, I have no idea what was going on in the audience. Both times, I couldn't take my eyes off of Freddie. His performance was as explicit as the words. I don't even remember what the next song was after that. 😅

L, anytime you're looking for Queen songs to do just look back through our comments on your earlier Queen reactions (or look at track listings for each album). There's still a lot of great music. I'm still hoping you'll do "Gimme the Prize", "Was It All Worth It", and "Tenement Funster" (Roger singing that one, remember you liked his "Fight From the Inside"). Btw, there was a 2hr Special on TV last night (on ABC) about Queen, called "The Show Must Go On". It looked back to their days with Freddie ("our dear Freddie" as they called him) and their current work with Adam Lambert & how they're keeping Freddie's legacy alive. If you didn't catch it, maybe it will be rerun or made available another way. It's definitely worth watching.

I’m pretty sure that “Get Down, Make Love”, is actually about, as Genius would put it, “GAY sex. It’s simply about gay sex.” But yeah, this song was so dirty that, when they played it live, they took out the middle verses and lengthened the “alien abduction meets unholy wails of the damned tripping on LSD” instrumental part to like 3 minutes. It was literally banned to play in Argentina when the record came out. In regards to Guns N Roses, Axl Rose idolized Freddie Mercury and Queen, calling them “the greatest band and greatest frontman of all time”, and sang part of “Bohemian Rhapsody” alongside Elton John during the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert in 1992 Ragtime is a upbeat subsection of jazz/blues music, designed for tap or swing dance And for their second through seventh albums, they always put “And nobody played synthesizer.” as a declaration that any sound effects in tracks from Queen II, Sheer Heart Attack, A Night at the Opera, A Day at the Races (this song’s on this one), News of the World, and Jazz used multitracking and different instruments instead of synthesizers. They began this after the reviews for their first album were all complimenting their use of synths when actually Brian May painstakingly created an orchestra out of harmonizing guitar pieces and layering them together when mixing the final track. For recommended Queen content, I think you’d like “Inside the Rhapsody”, the 20 minute version on the QueenOfficial channel, in which Brian May takes Bohemian Rhapsody’s original tape and goes through it and explains the reasoning and creation process in each layered track of the song. For an actual Queen song to check out of you need a laugh, the B-side version of “See What a Fool I’ve Been” is hilariously sung like Freddie’s a singer in a cocktail bar, mostly in falsetto and ridiculously flirtatious. Since most of the time it was sung as a jazz/blues piano ballad akin to “My Melancholy Blues” in concert, I nearly choked myself laughing when I first heard the B-side version. It includes him ad-libbing the phrase “coochie-coo”. You have been warned.
