I appreciate all the updates & guidelines in your newsletter! Will information change much in your itineraries (Maui) if visiting in October? Should I book 5 months out? Thanks again!
Thanks for subscribing to our newsletter! We send out updates on purchased itineraries as needed via email, like change in hours or booking tips. I would recommend booking 5 months out as we are in new territory here. The island is getting back to 2019 visitor levels but there are still capacity restrictions.
If you live here and respect the people and the aina, why are you trying to promote more people to come and destroy the place? For your profit?? We don’t want and need more visitors here. Mahalo
As a former local of Hāna please pull over for locals as we are not using the road for tourism, but commuting for work and we just want to get home. Thank you!
First time? Download Shaka guide from apple store or android play store. Small fee for the tours but BEST THING I EVER DISCOVERED!!!!! I paid almost 1000 dollars for a guided tour to Hana and then like....7 dollars for the app's tour. Had a better time on my own with the app. I don't leave reviews. But for this app, gotta recommend. Works flawlessly and will take you on the best day ever! The app along with Hawaii Vacation Guide Videos, you're all set. Enjoy Maui!
With each of your videos, my nerves about going on our first real vacation and not being prepared, decreases. Thank you for making these. Your genuineness is refreshing.
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide hey , i am in oahu, hawaii currently. Me and my wife did a last minute booking to maui in 2 days. We are landing at maui airport (ogg) at 8 am and returning the same night at 9pm. We want to go to black sand beach. Any tips on how to make the most of our day?
Been to Maui twice and after watching your video I feel like we missed so much. We only saw maybe 10% of what you showed us in this video. Time to plan another trip! Thanks a million.
i feel like I watched so many videos from u guys but a new video is alway feel so refreshing to me :) thank you for much for deciding to make this channel !!
We watched your videos and just came back from a 10 day trip to Oahu and Maui! Loved it so much we bought property there! Thank you for your videos!!! Love from Texas!
My friends and I are going to Maui in July for an entire week. This is going to be my first time leaving the lower 48 and first time going on vacation. Can’t wait to go to Maui :)
Thanks so much for the great videos! My wife and I finally booked our trip to Maui for this October, to celebrate our 30th Anniversary. It took a lot of research & patience, and your videos were incredibly helpful.
I rarely leave comments on RU-vid - but I just have to say thank you for all your educational and informational videos!! Traveling can be a lot of pressure for folks like me (who hasn’t been able to prioritize travel in life so when I do plan a big trip I feel immense pressure to make it the most worthwhile) - but your videos have provided a lot of helpful tips and insight while planning for my November trip :)
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment! We appreciate the feedback and glad to hear our videos have helped with your November trip. Have a wonderful time on Maui!
This is your best video yet great summary of everything you need to know about Maui! Can’t wait to our wedding in Maui in December counting down the minutes LOL!
Another fantastic video!! Brings back wonderful memories of my trip there. Haven't been to the Hawaii islands since 2000, so much has changed! Love the videos, keep them coming.
Another great video. Thanks, these videos are perfect for folks that are first timers or those of us that can only make it every 2-3 years. Like any place, things change every few years. So, great for an update. Your website is fantastic, glad I joined.
Haha, yes, keep my secret beach a secret, especially during December. After/before that, welcome to Polo Beach and the small, very secret beach behind Punahoa Beach Condos.
As a first time visitor to Maui in a few weeks, my boyfriend and I have been loving your channel recently! I think I’ve watched all of your videos at this point and I get so excited to reuploads or new videos :) The time and love put into your channel is obvious. Would love to support you guys more.. do you have a Patreon?
I’ll be going back to Maui along w/ my new bride ( her 1st time) hopefully in a couple of weeks or so. Last time I was there, 1988. Both are so helpful. Keep up the good work.
I had plans to propose during our last visit a few years ago, until my girlfriend beat me to it and we ended up getting engaged (and married) months before we got to the islands (a planned vacation turned into a belated honeymoon.) Anyway, my plan was to propose sometime on the Road to Hana, for a few reasons. One, it's pretty quiet. Even on a busy day, it's not hard to find a few minutes to be alone somewhere. Two, it's beautiful every step of the way. You'll be stopping every twenty minutes or so, and every stop involves gorgeous scenery that would make a great backdrop for a proposal. There are waterfalls, giant tropical plants and trees, black sand beaches, scenic overlooks, etc. Three, all those options mean you can make your plan very flexible! If one site isn't just right, you have countless other options. Let's say you're hoping to propose at a waterfall, but when you get there, it's really busy or it's raining, or it's just not the right atmosphere. No problem, just drive down the road a bit and try out plan B (or plan C, or D, or E, etc etc.) Best of luck!
I didn't know your dad, The Grumpy Plumber had a YT channel until I saw his video about an hour ago for the first time pop up on my list about water heaters !🙂
That's him, the family celebrity! We have fun with his channel and are looking forward to getting more videos out soon. That water heater video really took off.
I am going next week to Maui! Is my first time ever going! I am celebrating my 30th birthday. I am excited, nervous and over all happy. It has always been my dream to go. My husband made my dream come true!
Have a great time with the kids. Check out our favorite things to do on Maui with kids if you're looking for things to do: thehawaiivacationguide.com/things-to-do-in-maui-with-kids/
We’ve stayed at Lahaina Shores in January of 2020 and January of 2021 and loved it there. It’s small and sits on the beach. You either have a Mountain View or an ocean view. The ocean view is worth the extra money! We’ve watched lots of whales from a distance from our balcony there. There was a sea lion that slept on the beach in front of the condo for a day while we was there this year. Nothing like eating breakfast on that balcony and watching the sun come up. I’ve been surprised how there’s not many people that mention this place in their videos. We’ve found Maui to be so relaxing and fun that we’re probably headed back there in January of 2022.
thanks for sharing. Lahaina Shores is a wonderful location and one of the few places to stay right in Lahaina. Spanky's isn't for everyone but Feast of Lele is right next door too.
@@whitelotus2516 visitors generate income and jobs for the locals, not everyone comes Maui, only those who can afford to travel, etc. Viewing from London. We've visited very briefly on guided tour of all the islands few years back but thank you Erica and Jordan, will visit Maui again. All blessings to you and family.
Thanks guys, for another great video! My wife and I got married at Makena Cove 16 years ago and always stop by while we're in Maui. We're very excited about our upcoming trip this September with our daughter. Definitely going to check out Twin Falls this year (looks amazing!). Finally got tickets for The Old Lahaina Luau! Yes!! And just found out that they opened another Star Noodle in Lahaina (one of our favorite spots). Anyways, keep doing what you do! Mahalo from California!
thanks for watching! Makena Cove is the best and makes for a special wedding place. Congrats on getting tickets! Aloha Mixed Plate closed to make room for Star Noodle (same owners) outdoor dining. I miss the $4 pau hana mai tai at Aloha Mixed Plate but the new location for Star Noodle is very nice.
Aloha 🤙. We just returned from Maui. This video brought all our memories back. This video is awesome and well explained in detail. I would like to add or suggest one more thing that when anyone visits Maui, must visit Atlantis Submarine. It is in Lahaina. It is a Jaw dropping experience. We saw so many fishes. It is so beautiful. This ride is perfect for anyone who is not comfortable with swimming or snorkeling. It is also perfect ride for elderly people. Maui is really beautiful. Can't wait to go back. You will find all kind of fruits and flower trees specialy the Plumerias. We just love it.. I feel like retiring there. Good Luck and Enjoy the Paradise on Earth. Mahalo
Very nice tips! The only caveat would be Haleakala, always check the weather before going up! First of all, it can be cold to freezing up there, especially when you throw in wind chill factor and rain, it is 10,000 ft elevation after all, and after trekking all the way up there, there is a chance you might not even see the sunrise at all which is why there might be a better chance of seeing sunset instead and maybe less crowd for sunset watches. If you book a trip with a tour company to go up, they won’t refund your money if you don’t get to see the sunrise or sunset, but if you do see it, it is one of the best views you will have ever seen, the sunrise looks like heaven opened up!
fully agree, colder up there than most people can imagine. We all acclimate fast to the tropical temperatures at sea level. Haleakala is the only reason to pack warm clothes for Maui.
good observation! as we live on Maui, we get more options to film. When we visit the other islands, we film with what we got. We have had two rainy trips to Oahu and the Big Island in the past, getting more footage as we continue to travel!
Just wanted to say that my girlfriend and I are planning our first trip to Hawaii in the fall, and your videos have been immensely helpful in our planning process! You guys have a lovely family, and we appreciate all that you do. Can't wait to visit your beautiful islands and see what Oahu and Maui have to offer!! Thanks again!
Mahalo Brian! Thanks for watching and have a great trip in the fall. Check out our website for more details on planning your trip. thehawaiivacationguide.com/
Have you guys also thought of doing island tours? I've been to Maui already but even after watching this we missed a good chunk too. Give it some thought! I would love to have Paul Rudd do a tour!
haha, Paul would love to drive you around Maui. We sell itineraries with more details so people don't miss the good stuff! We recommend our buddy's company Hawaii Tours for guided tours as he has 20 yrs of experience: thehawaiivacationguide.com/HawaiiTours
I really appreciate your Maui videos. This one was the BEST for me. I've been to Maui and this time I'm bringing three friends (September 18th). Would love to meet you. Anyway thanks for sharing. Mahalo
Thanks for watching and the feedback. We tried to put our best stuff in this one. Have fun with your friends in September and maybe we will run into you, it is a small island.
Thanks for this awesome set of tips! Do you have any suggestions for things to do in the afternoon? Seems like most hiking and beach activities are best in the morning and we haven't found much to fill the afternoons
thanks for watching! Take a look at our Maui itineraries as we give excursion days that are full days (where to eat to what to do): thehawaiivacationguide.com/Maui/
My wife and I are coming to Maui in September. Been watching your great videos. Suggestion: When you put destinations, restaurant names, beach or park names, or activities to do on the screen, put them in the upper right corner of the screen, not the bottom left. We have been watching your videos on our TV and when we try to stop your videos to write down the information, RU-vid has the "progress bar" and other boxes of information that totally blocks your information. Watch one of your videos on your TV and see what I mean. Great material! Thanks!
thanks for the tip! TV watching is a different experience and I wasn't aware of that issue. Also, video card suggestions don't come up on TV so we point to nothing. FYI, our itineraries also have all the information in case you don't want to watch and make notes! Thanks for watching!
From a local. Not a bad video, all I gotta say is if you're gonna tell people to take the Hana Highway slowly, be sure to tell them about the 1,000 places you can pull over to get da fuck out of our way too. We have places to go, sometimes we are in an emergency and need to get to town ASAP and we will get out of our trucks and throw your phone of the fuckin cliff and make you move if we have to. Enjoy your stay🤙
Where do you recommend buying snorkeling gear? Here on the mainland or at a particular store on Maui? Also, do you recommend renting over buying? Thanks!
See our newest video for Get Wet Store snorkel sets. If you plan to go a lot then consider buying on the mainland. If a couple of days, then rent from a local store for $30-$50 a day. The Snorkel Store in Kaanapali is our favorite.
@@donkey2555 it’s been great. Easy getting here. Restaurants open. Snorkeling and diving open. Car rental, ugh. But otherwise it’s beautiful, as usual.
@Silvia Hoard just the cost. Initially I reserved with hertz. At the time it was the best price (smallest car) and it was about $1500.00 for a week. Then a friend said rent from local rental companies (they have a condo there). Now they are older cars but it was $600.00. It worked for us.
fab video as always. we are from flat Holland and are planning for a 3 week holiday in Hawaii. We want to do 10 days in Oahu and 10 days in Maui. Is this enough for a 1st time? We also want to do a stop in Tucson Arizona because we will traveling with a 4 year old and the flight from Holland to Hawaii is to far from a 4 year old without a 5 day stop on the mainland.
Thanks for watching, we have an updated Maui Travel Guide here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zFNYEgOt3TA.html 10 days on each island is more than enough. We have that questioned answered in articles too, start with this one: thehawaiivacationguide.com/how-many-days-should-you-spend-in-maui/
I loved it thanks for the video. We’re going there end of September this year. Hopefully, covid restrictions will ease up by then. I’ll keep tracking your channel to learn more on what places best to go. I play golf, any ideas that are affordable to play? Thanks.
Great videos, happy to have found you. Want to see Hawaii and it will be the only visit, so really want to see all (or most) of the highlights. Been to a travel agent…kinda $$$$, considering a tour group. 2 friends, 71 and 67. Love swimming, some hiking, etc. Your thoughts?
There are a lot of good local tour groups. We are more DIY people. Maui is easy to get around. Our itinerary is $27 and has easy hikes and safe swimming places included: thehawaiivacationguide.com/maui/ It is better than a travel agent in regards to what to do and where to eat.
Hi, love all your videos. Ive been binge watching for our upcoming vaca. Do you happen to know where we can rent a boat? We dont want a guided tour. Thanks so much for your help
You can do a private chartered sail. Power boat rentals are rare. Call GungHo Sailing about a private tour of West Maui. His boat holds 6. We did his 2 hour sail in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3CfXS0QQ85k.html
See our where to stay video but Lahaina will check those boxes for you. Kihei also but Lahaina has more of a town feel. Where to Stay on Maui: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IK8H7nZ-poU.html Lahaina doesn't have a lot of hotels but check vacation rentals
Love all the videos you're making! Very helpful in planning our trip later in October. Quick few questions for you - are most restaurants and locations accepting cash? or is it safer to just stick with a credit card? - What's the situation on vaccine passports for international visitors? having trouble finding any information about what would be considered valid for us
Thanks for watching! Most, almost all, take cash. Go to the FAQ section of hawaiicovid19.com/travel as they talk about international requirements. Hard part is a valid vaccine card has to be from someone vaccinated in the states. But check the official website.
good idea! we share some of that information in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wgg_4sRXV2Y.html and check out Erica's article on vaca rentals here: thehawaiivacationguide.com/where-to-stay-on-maui/. search vacation rentals on the website to find more articles on them.
In your Maui guide you recommend Mamas Fish House on the North Shore day. My question is - are we going to be too dirty/sweaty if we go to the beach beforehand? We will have 4 kids aged 4-10 with us. Would you bring clothes to change before lunch? Any recommendations?
Great question. We recommend you bring a change of clothes. No tank tops are allowed at Mama's but it is casual. You can shower off at Ho'okipa Beach if you need a rinse!
Hi, love your video's! My fiancé and I are staying in Kihei in July. Question about safety on the beaches. When you go snorkelling or walks along the beach, can you leave your stuff on the beach? Or do you keep your things in the car when you go snorkelling? We're avid travellers and have been to beaches around the world but never in Hawaii, so not sure what is safe to do. Thanks!
Thank you for all of your informative information. However my question is are all of the tips your giving to so, are good places to go during November also?
You must try Tin Roof. It’s close to the airport. In my opinion, that’s the best restaurant in Maui. Stay away from the restaurants close to tourist places.
Do you guys have like a package tour guide with you? I am planning a vacation trip from December 1 to 10 with my boyfriend and it would be amazing counting with a local couple that can show us around.
