Hey Fabricators, In this video I show you Mauler now that he's done, and I give the reason why I haven't posted in a couple months. Here is a link to the paint I used in case you are interested. amzn.to/3NyXTB8
Sorry to hear about your dad's health issues. He's lucky to have devoted family. Glad to see you back in the saddle, so to speak. Mauler looks GREAT!!! That paint is superb! I'm thinkin' anyone would be happy to own/drive him. You do such great work, and you explain it so well.
The orange looks AWESOME! Glad to hear things have settled down with your dad. That can really be a mental drain... We will be here, so take a YT leave whenever you need to do so. You're great at catching us up when you make progress off camera.
Sorry to hear about your Dad’s / family issues. Been there, done that. Glad you’ve reached a resolution to that phase of things quickly, as these things can span years, and provide a opportunity for family members to showcase their true nature. Painting in the shop is always a nightmare. Way nice job. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah, appreciate the moral support on the family issues. Overspray is my worst enemy, luckily I was able to contain it to the loft. And luckily I could do it panel by panel. Thanks for the comment.
Not just bugs were available in orange. Growing up the family Kombi was Riverina Orange. Since then many of my family have now passed away, so I can relate to your family situation. It's so amazing that you can build what you do. I would never get up to your stage. Good to have you back Mike. 🇦🇺
Sorry about your dad dude, I was in the same situation a few years back and it sucks bad. In reference to the doors, maybe you should have Dukes of Hazzarded those doors up :)
G'day, So glad to hear that your dad is doing much better. I know from experience it can be mentally exhausting looking after our parents in their latter years. And Mauler WOW. You've out done yourself. So thanks for sharing ✌️ Peace from Melbourne Australia.
Kevin, thank you, hopefully his situation is under control now. It happened quick and caught me off guard, now that I've had some time to work through it I hope it won't affect me so much. Good to hear from you, Peace. ✌
@DougBugBuilder Thank you for the update on your dad. Things won't be exactly the same as they once where so try and think of life as a new normal from now on. ✌️Peace to you and your family.
That is awesome! Congratulations !..would you be willing to share more information on the paint job?. I have always been a VW nut all my life. I have one VW vehicle aka El Chivo. The goat.its a multi year. Multi breed VW parts. 1959 vw buss Trans axle etc. Now I also have a 54 Chevy truck.AKA OL'BEATER. That paint job would be awesome. Yeah I'm 72 and still doing this. Thanks
Thanks, I'm glad you like the paint job. I typically don't consider myself a top notch painter. So I really only do videos on things I think I'm more of an expert on. Doing a video on painting I would feel I'm reaching outside of my comfort zone. That being said, it's inspiring to hear you are 72 and still working on projects. 👍
I have followed your video series on mauler since the first day. Excellent, excellent work on that awesome Baja. Do you have a link to where you might be posting Mauler for sale? Someone, I hope myself, will have a very well engineered Baja there. Glad that you are getting thru those trying family times, definitely not easy. From your New Mexico Neighbor, thank you for the Mauler series. 👍😀👍
Thanks for following along and for the kind words. I imagine if I end up posting it somewhere for sale I'll mention that on RU-vid. But if you message me in Instagram or email me direct I can let you know to be sure.
You mentioned that Mauler is a 73 VW and registered as a 73. I'm wondering about insurance? At this stage, Mauler has almost nothing 73 VW except for the basic body shape. Wondering if any of the classic car insurance companies would write a policy? Excellent build.
Mauler is a 67 bug, the VIN number is welded to the chassis. He's insured through State Farm as a 67 Bug, when I get the insurance I told them he was a Baja Bug and heavily modified. They were not to concerned, the only advice they did give me was to get him appraised. They said if he got into an accident I would only get the amount for a regular 67 bug, which would be basically nothing. He's also registered as an antique vehicle, this made insurance easier too as the antique registration means I can only drive a number of miles per year.
