“Dallas relies on their offense more than their defense” It’s like they haven’t watched a single minute of Mavs basketball since the deadline. The Mavs have actually had a pretty mediocre offense at times during these playoffs but the 1 constant has been their defense. Their defense was the reason they beat OKC in 6. Their defense was the reason they went from a struggling play-in team to the conference finals. And their defense is the reason they will at worst be competitive in this series.

Was rockin with it until yall said the Mavs moreso rely on their offense. They have the 2nd best defense in the entire playoffs besides the Wolves. They are holding teams to 7.7 points under their regular season avg, and the Wolves are holding teams to 7.1 less. They won their last 2 series because of defense.

Luka has historically struggled to score against Mcdaniels and he himself has praised his defense numerous times in post game interviews, so I’m excited to see the matchup

I don't think I've ever disagreed with you guys more. I think this is a Luka series through and through given he's healthy. He can literally punk anyone on there team. And God forbid he gets switches on Gobert and completely take him out of the game. The only person strong enough to guard Luka is Ant and he's about 3 inches to small. I think Minnesota can do a better job taking Kyrie out than Luka. But that's my opinion.

McDaniels is super important for Minnesota's offense he cant get into foul trouble. He can't go kamikaze like Dort.

Luka averages 26 a game against the wolves with Jaden McDaniels playing and Jaden has been the primary defender of Luka. Against everyone else since McDaniels has been in the league Luka averages 31 a game on better efficiency. I think they are 100% correct in saying Jaden can guard him. Mavs fans are way too cocky rn.

I really like these guys, but they really made it seem like this is an elite Minnesota offense when it when it is a really mediocre offense I hope their plan is to blitz and double Luka because he will torch them

Honestly Tim Hardaway would have to be the dominant offensive bench player in this series. When the whole Mavs team was hurt and the Wolves had to play G league and Benchers, they only won by 8 and Tim really carried. Dwight Powell did a lot against Rudy so it seems that Rudy struggles when someone is small than him which is funny to think. He’s a little slow.

I think this is going to be an instant classic series. I see 7 games. I have been fan of Mavs all season and want to see Luka and Kyrie in the Finals. I believe KAT will be the key to winning or losing this series. Which version of KAT will we see?

I think Dallas matches up well with Minnesota but something to consider is that the Clippers pushed them to 6 games, and those Clippers never would have pushed Minny to 6, Minny dumpstered a stronger opponent in Pheonix in 4. Then we turnaround and knock out Denver, but Dallas barely avoided going 7 games vs a team with something called Josh Giddy as a starter on it. So if you are thinking Dallas is going to just roll Minnesota, you need to strap in for 7 either way.

You just admitted that the Wolves are not as physical. McDaniels is long, but he’s not heavy like Dort to absorbed Luka’s hits. Luka isn’t affected by height. The Wolves have multiple players that he can attacked in Conley, Towns and even Gobert in space.

Murray got rattled because he’s their only point guard. The Mavs have both Luka and Kyrie on the floor. That’s the difference with having the two guard superstars vs guard/Center combo of Murray/Jokic.

These 2 teams are very similar imo. Both win because of team basketball, and both play defense. 50/50 series, way to early to predict a winner

The real question is can Ant lock up Kyrie? If Kyrie is cooking Ant I think it will shock him and will decrease his effectiveness on offense.

The wolves defense is better than the mavs but it isn’t that much better like people are acting and the wolves have never shut down Luka before and McDaniels is too tiny to guard Luka and ant is too short there really is no one to guard Luka

Really surprising you guys never mentioned Kyle Anderson to match up on Luka. Anderson has been a strong matchup against Luka in the past.

You can’t really compare how Denver played against Wolves Defense and how Kyrie and Luka will because they’re GENERATIONAL scorers

Shai is way more consistent than Ant. If Dallas was able to hold him enough where he couldn’t go too crazy they can contain Ant. Itll be up to KAT and Naz Reid to step up big offensively

Okay so I get Luka is the best player in this series. Ant is a budding superstar. He's likely the 2nd best. Then KAT and Kyrie are #3 and #4. They're interchangeable. Kyrie's offense is better, but KAT has been doing a little bit of everything for Minnesota in these playoffs. After those 4..... Minnesota's team is deeper man. Rudy is a 4 time DPOY. Naz Reid 6MOY. McDaniels is likely making an all nba defensive team. Conley has been so reliable being the floor general. And then NAW and Slo Mo aren't scrubs either. I think all the backcourt players offensive and defensive abilities kind of cancel each other out. But my question is, how do the Wolves bigs match up against the Mavs bigs? Lively and Gafford have been playing well. But they played Zubac round 1 who is mid af. And then Holmgren round 2 who clearly was out muscled having the Jack Skellington build. The Wolves have pretty much 3 all star bigs between KAT, Rudy, and Naz. How many people really think Lively and Gafford can play well against those 3?

KAT is the X-factor in this series. If he can get 20 ppg the Wolves will take the series. He was in foul trouble against the Suns and Nuggets because he had to guard KD and Jokic. KAT and Rudy will help off their defenders against Luka and Kyrie and the other will be the weak side help rotation off the help. The Mavs don’t have a 4/5 that can create their own shots. The Wolves have enough perimeter defenders with length to throw at Luka and Kyrie that it’ll keep ANT fresh to get at least 30 per game. The Wolves also have the length to contest and disrupt the Mavs 3pt shooting. That’s something that the Clippers and OKC did not have. I got the Wolves in 6.

Great analysis, but is simple i’ve been watching basketball since 02 and the team with the best player or 2 players win series’. Healthy Luka or 80% Luka the win . I personally think we get a motivated Luka and Kyrie im a Mavs Fan i think they win in 6/7.

Luka seems like a huge liability on the defensive end. I think whoever matches up on him can go right past him and break down the Dallas D. Every Wolves player, except Gobert, can straight line drive to the basket. Luka seems to play his own personal one-man zone, waiting to go back in offense. Kyrie driving into the lane is the one bothersome area for me, but Gobert will greet him there.

Kyle "Slow-Mo" Anderson is going to play a huge factor in this serious. His slow-motion playstyle will be really effective against Luka's slow pace and has the size to harass him.

I will also add that they will get 4 quarters of Kyrie and not just the second half!

Luka and Kyrie will get their numbers. PJ Washington ,DJJ and Lively will not replicate those production they had with OKC. Wolves in 6

Diehard Mavs fan here. Stop the Luka Injury BS. If he is on the court he is 100%. Everyone is feeling pain by this stretch of the season. If Dallas are going to win this series, it will be because of their defense. Wolves have very few weaknesses, offense is one of them. If somehow Dallas can slow down Ant and Naz, they have a shot. On the other hand, Dallas offense will face a real stonewall defense in Minny. Dallas can get cold if the roleplayers are not hitting open 3s and not dunking lobs. But Luka will make those passes, he always does. If Kyrie does not score 18+ ppg in this series Dallas will have a hard time finding gaps in this Wolves defense. Kyrie can do it. Talking about experience in the biggest stages.. Kidd and Kyrie have a champs backbone. Ant is amazing and i hope he wins multiple titles and Mvps, but he still only 22, experience and IQ makes a huge diference in these big playoffs series. Amazing WCF. Mavs in 7.

Luka got no issue with po physicality. Its a problem when refs allows murder 1 way and calls tickytac fouls the other because sga were espns new toy. Also, the 31 points luka put up on mcdaniels were in 12 min. Luka plays 44min / game in the po. Just a horrible luka defender, too weak

Everyone is underestimating the mavs. Mavs got way better perimeter defense and way better interior defense than the nuggets. Ant will see djj, pj, lively, gafford and Josh green. Luka and kyrie also present a different set of challenges for the wolves defense with how great they are on the perimeter. I think mavs win in 6. I think towns and Conley will get hunted by luka, and I think McDaniels is too scrawny to hold luka

I have a suspicion that Kyle Anderson will get more time this series. He actually guards Luka surprisingly well.

SGA is just as good if not better than Anthony Edward’s. That means nothing! I don’t thing Minnesota defense is any better than what OKC threw at us! They are not going to shut down both Luka and Kyrie every game if any game. It’s not going to happen ‘ someone will be single covered and open for a 3! We have guys that can play like Exum that haven’t even played much this playoffs and then we have Hardy, DJJ, etc. you can’t double team everyone!

I think Luka is more bothered by phisicality than lenght. He does not like to get bumped, and it can wear him down a bit. In the other hand, i dont think he cares about lenght, screen navigations and contests. Luka is huge, with great footwork, a high release and a thousand tricky passes and fake passes. He will be fine against McDaniels. To he honest, i think Ant has better physical tools to guard Luka. The problem for Minny is: foolish fouls. They have an unbelivable defense personel, but they gamble a lot in defense (as they should). Luka and Kyrie are not ball handling-easy targets. If Minny gambles too much with KAT, Ant and NAW trying to slow, Dallas will feast.

I have made a pick. After rewatching toooons of Mavericks and Wolves games, I have arrived in the conclusion that Mavericks is very likely gonna win this one. Each games gonna be close but will be decided in the final quarters, and Luka/Kyrie are unstoppable in the clutch. I think they gonna have more efficient scoring here compared to their first two series because McDaniels although taller is not as physical as Ludort (this guy is an NFL player), Terrance Mann, Russ, PG, and others. The betting odds are so much in favor of the Wolves but that Sun team has very bad overall defense and depth, that Nuggets team has bad interior D, slow to switches, and also has bad bench. The lanes won't be as open to the Wolves compared to their first two matchups. Assuming Luka is 100%, Mavericks should win in 4-5. If he is limping again, toss up. Expect Gobert to be targetted a lot in this series btw.
