Nice man. Sounds like you tried cinematic flight mode on H264. For that ultimate cinematic look try shooting with 24fps on your mavic 2 Pro. You have to be a bit more careful with motion but the result is awesome. Have you dabbled with H265 and DLOG-M? When did you get your mavic 2 Pro?
@shiwadaay07
@shiwadaay07 5 лет назад
@@Quadcopterguide Actually, I was on H265 all the time until last 2 weeks. 😅 Just wondering if a normal mouse has to stick with H264 all the time, isn't it true? It is so odd that some 4K TVs don't support the H264 which I don't get it. Kine Master Pro app on my phone doesn't support it, either.
@Quadcopterguide

Hm. H264 is easier to process than h265 so the opposite should be true. Are you sticking the memory card straight into the TV?

The entire video is a masterclass in editing. You held onto the exposure well on the sun/mountain and the lens flare was a nice addition. I need to rewatch this on a monitor as mobile screens cannot do justice. Is 265 still a resource hog when editing. The 264 container was a learning curve for me but there are a few very nice bits of freeware. Not sure if they have updated for 265. Beautiful dog.....I should lend you my two black labs.....now there is a imaging challenge....black dogs on white snow. Another fine video....thank you.

Hi ARD! Glad your here again. Trust me after consistently putting this much work into these videos the thought had crossed my mind to make them part of a paid training. Maybe down the road... you are correct about watching on a monitor. On iOS the RU-vid app will only max out at 1080p. To get the extra bandwidth and higher resolutions, using chrome or such on a computer I’d best. Then we have the option of 4K. Even if the monitor doesn’t display 4K the image looks better as it’s downsampled. H265 unless you have a recent Intel CPU which offers H265 quick sync is more resource intensive. Of course my Intel Skylake Chip from 2016 has H264 acceleration but not H265. For H265 it used my Graphics Card. It still works fine enough. I don’t expect everyone to have the same hardware though :). I enjoyed taking the dog along on that shoot, she didn’t think it was work at all! Exposing black labs on snow would be a challenge. I’m not sure if exposing for the highlights would work too well there. Haha. Thanks for tuning in. Give it a watch on a pc with decent speakers hooked up.

Hi Tundra! Thanks for tuning in again. Much appreciated. Don’t worry. I covered a ton of stuff in this video. Just start with those H264 settings and get comfortable with that. Practice your smooth flying and getting used to the gimbal settings. Then once you got that nailed down pretty good, you can make the jump to H265 DLOG-M for that extra step in cinematic videos. With H265 comes as you saw more post production, so just keep that in mind. Anything in this video that you need help with?

@@Quadcopterguide Im using/learning Davinci Resolve, I have FCPX on my macbook but prefer using my PC as it has 3 screens and powerful graphics cards, I tired to use a virtual mac which works great apart from no VM products allow for graphics card (they use a generic version) o FCPX won run! I still think the starting point though is the shot itself, short video takes make for an easy life too rather than trawling through 10gb of footage to find the bit you need! Eye for detail is important and some of your shots are the same type I capture, of course having somewhere to film is also handy! Thanks this is helpful for me using my M2P! I have 106 flights so far. My questions, if you will is: I know that for video the shutter speed needs to be double the frame rate, but if I decide to take a photo should I increase the shutter speed so as to prevent a blurry photo, then reset if I turn back to video? I have watched all your helpful videos, you are a good teacher!
@Quadcopterguide
@Quadcopterguide 5 лет назад
Hi Peter 👋🏼, thanks for tuning in again and taking the time to comment. You are spot on regarding video. For photos there is a general rule for hand-holding a camera. The rule states that you should your shutter speed should be 1/ your focal length. So in case of a 30mm lens 1/30th. In case of the mavic 2 Pro using its 24mm lens this would be 1/25th. However since we aren’t hand-holding I would recommend doubling to 1/50th of a second. If it’s super calm you can slow down the shutter speed quite a bit and still get a decently sharp image, just play around with it a bit and see what conditions require what settings. Thanks for the kinds words!

I have been shooting video with my Mavic two pro for the last four months. I have been using 4K Dlog h.265. I do my post video editing in da Vinci resolve 16 beta. The problem I have is that if I export my video in 1080 P it becomes cropped and zoomed in which ruins the framing I did for example when circling a home . This leads me to believe that I need to know which resolution my client wants the video in before I shoot the video . Do you agree? I hear people on RU-vid all the time talking about shooting in 4K and then exporting in lower resolutions and post. But I don’t see how this works since everything is extremely zoomed in and cropped for the lower resolution . Would love to know your thoughts. Thank you.
@Quadcopterguide
@Quadcopterguide 5 лет назад
Hi Chris, thanks for stopping by! Also congrats on the Mavic 2 Pro. Sweet drone. I’ve downloaded the free version of Resolve to mess with color grading a bit, haven’t edited a full video on it though. From my experience in Final Cut Pro X and how I perceive other editors to work, your result is not typical. The framing of your shots shouldn’t change as long as you keep the exported resolution a 16x9 factor (which HD, 4K) are. I would check out an export guide for your version of Resolve, there’s some setting or something in your workflow that doesn’t sound 100% correct yet. You definitely don’t need to know what resolution you export in before you start a project like that, just based on crop level. Hope that helps!

This may not be the best place to ask this because it's a general questions. Never owned a drone but have been a photographer for 20 years. I'm interested in a drone for mainly photography & the great shots you can get in the air as opposed to land. DJI is running what looks to me like a good sale this weekend. I'm interested in the Mavic 2 Pro w/smart controller. It's within reach, especially since B&H is offering an interest-free purchase for 24 months. Can anyone push me over the edge? Other than the Fly More package, what other accessories are a must. I imagine the ND filters but I'm not exactly sure which ones to get. Anything else?

Ok, so after more online research, I've concluded that as much as I would like to add stunning aerial shots of interesting subjects to my portfolio, there just seem to be more places you can't fly it than places you want to fly it. No national parks, protected air space. Commercial license to just be able to sell prints. You can fly at night as a hobbyist but you can't if you have a commercial license? Very odd. Well, at least I saved myself about $2400 this weekend.

Is your preferred monitor/controller the smart controller then? I need to get rid of my phone and upgrade the monitor, just can’t decide which is better, a CrystalSky, iPad mini, or maybe a smart controller. Heard that the android system built into the smart controller could be a pain for less experienced computer guy like myself. And that maybe I’d better stick with an iPad because ease of use and cost. Any thoughts? Thx
@Quadcopterguide
@Quadcopterguide 5 лет назад
That is a great question. Currently I’m using the Smart Controller. It’s what I used in all the footage you saw today and in my recent videos. The difference in the iOS and android based DJI Go 4 App is very small. Maybe iOS feels a bit smoother when working with menus etc. I have to try waypoints on iOS. I feel like that’s a bit clunky on Android. But I haven’t tested both so I can’t say. Maybe a good video idea! I still am itching to find a way to test an iPad Pro lol. Can you imagine that screen size. Definitely not as portable but man. Crystal sky is also an interesting idea. But I kinda feel unless your flying Inspire 2 etc it’s a bit of overkill? I don’t know. What do you think?
@tundrawhisperer4821
@tundrawhisperer4821 5 лет назад
Quadcopterguide I guess my quick answer for me would to go with the mini iPad. Just from a multi use standpoint. When I’m not flying I would have another iPad I can use for other things and its cost is about $200 less. If I do the mini iPad, everyone says the mavmount is the tablet holder to get. I have an iPad Air 2, and like you said, the picture size would just be awesome to watch as your flying the drone. I’d just be worried the extra weight and bulkiness would get me fatigued. The fact that the smart controller is compact, all in one unit, just grab and go is a nice feature though. Darn DJI, make an apple based dedicated all in one smart controller. LOL. I’ll look at VLC as well. Thx again!
@Quadcopterguide
@Quadcopterguide 5 лет назад
Haha that would be sweet I doubt apple will ever let something like that happen unless apple drone play is a large enough market like car play haha. I have an old iPad mini 2 and from the size it’s really good. Being a bit older it i can’t record the screen on it while using the DJI go 4 app and for my turorial style videos that’s important to me. The iPad pros I think have a special coating on the screen and extra thin sandwiched screens to reduce glare.
